I like names like Elizabeth and Catherine because there are so many nicknames you can do. Baby names and grownup names and 'cool' teenager names and oldfashioned names and all sorts.

VinegarTits · 24/09/2010 10:41

its my Nan's name Smile i would have shortened it to Betty or something less posh though Grin

TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 10:45

By now ElizaFinn would probably have decided to shorten it differently anyway :)

actually i really like Eliza i would have shortened it to that (and still might if i ever have a girl)

ds1's name is still my favorite name ever

Lizzylou · 24/09/2010 10:52

I don't know, Shiney. I have an old school friend who was always Beth growing up, then changed it to Liz to be more grown up as a teen.
She can be Betty when she has a blue rinse.

LOve Patrick, there is a gorgeous boy in DS1's class called Paddy for short.

DH vetoed.

VinegarTits · 24/09/2010 10:57

i dont like it shorten to Paddy though

2 of my friends daughters have stolen my ds1's name and shortened it to Paddy, i think it cheapens it Grin

TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 10:59

I knew a Kate at PhD whose friends from university all called her Katy. maybe when she was 13 she went through a 'Kat' phase. Who knows?

Lizzylou · 24/09/2010 11:00

I know what you mean, but it really suits this boy.

Grin at stealing your DS1's name, bloody thieves!!!

That's very mean. I think most people would be aching the day after a minute of 'fast sit ups'.

sounds like the PE teacher has not taught then to do the situps properly, or not warmed them up first, crap PE teacher imo

Lizzylou · 24/09/2010 11:19

I'd complain to be honest, it can be dangerous to do sit ups incorrectly and doing them too quickly is stooopid.
You can damage your neck and back.

Sounds like PE Teacher is a right twerp.

VinegarTits · 24/09/2010 11:21

i would be inclined to have a word with the PE teacher and say that she has pulled a muscle and could the teacher possibly make sure they are doing the situps properly next time

Fine, it's good to be sporty.
But do things properly, not so that a young girl can't shower herself the next day.

I would say something, because if Taya just refuses to do the sit ups then she'll get in trouble.

VinegarTits · 24/09/2010 11:27

i think the teacher needs to know she was in pain the next day, thats not meddling
