No point cleaning til the end, definitely. I like the choosing bit of decorating, it's not dull at all, not when you get to pick things. It's like shopping, only practical and not frivolous!

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 15:33

I might take some snaps and put them on my profile for the day then, if you will indulge my tile porn habit Grin

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 15:38

Shiney, African snails are very easy to look after, justa trifle dull, we had the nursery ones over the holidays, feed every 2-3 days and clean out once a week, compost for bedding, take them out and wash occasionally and freeze the eggs before you throw them away.

Vinny, glad Fin had a good start to school, Edie is in the same position, 14 went to preschool together and the other 6 didn't, luckily she knew one from swimming.

Shiney, glad the day went well for you.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 15:39

Oh and BoF absoluteky no point in doing any cleaning until all the plastering is finished.

TrillianAstra · 04/09/2010 15:40

Fanny! Hello! I nearly called you Fanny on a different thread the other day, but then I thought people wouldn't know who I was agreeing with!

Once we move I will be buying homewares and things. No DIY, but still fun.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 15:42

Hello Trills, how are you?

TrillianAstra · 04/09/2010 15:44

I'm ok Fanny - 2 weeks til we move!

Going for a drive to the posh posh farm shop to get some olives or something in a minute, mostly as a 'let's just go somewhere out of the house' rather than because we actually need anything.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 15:47

Ok I have missed a lot, good luck with the move and I love going to posh posh food shops just to buy something.

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 15:57

Right- have made a flickr account to show you all my dull DIY projects.

The pictures are bizarrely rotated though, so apols if you have to crane your neck.

The shiny tiles are for the floor. The mosaic ones for between the worktops and wall cupboards. I've put a picture of the kitchen on too, so you can see the cupboards and worktops, which are old, but will be jazzed up hopefully by the work on the walls and floor.

The thirty quid fireplace I bought yesterday is there too.

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 16:04

Fixed the rotation, I think.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 16:11

Looks good BoF, love your fireplace.

TrillianAstra · 04/09/2010 17:44

I like the mosaic tiles - does it come as big tiles made of little tiles, or do you actually have to stick then all down individually?

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 17:48

It comes in big sheets- I've just been back out and bought them. I got all-in-one adhesive and grout too, so that when the adhesive squidges through you can just wipe it over and they are grouted instantly. Should be snimps to do tomorrow. The plastering is nearly finished now- and that's £250 saved on getting someone in to do it.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 17:56

Well done on saving money and good luck with the tiling tomorrow.

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 17:58

Thanks Fanny- I'm ridiculously excited Grin

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/09/2010 17:59

Not at all, I was jumping up and down with excitement when we did our kitchen.

mittz · 04/09/2010 18:46

Hello Smile

I like the tile porn BoF Smile If I had time I would enjoy renovaying the house but it is just a case of averting my eyes and mentally going aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhh at the stuff that wants doing.

Glad you stood firm with Ex Jet... that is fab lovey.Smile x

I have been to get rest of school stuff for DC's. I SO do not like shopping. I had to wait while they tested DS's bloody phone so was stuck there for an hour. I bought a new eye liner sharpener for myself.

Move will be fab Trills.. you have wanted it for so long.

I have a headache like nothing else so am going to mooch for a bit.

OP posts:
Slugbrains · 04/09/2010 19:24

moasic are good for awkward shapes as less cutting but can be fiddly to cut. the glass ones shatter. Good luck with the tiling.

I put the window sil tiles up on profile ages again, are you treating the grout with mould and mildrew resister or have you got special stuff in the grout?

Hope the plastering went well. have good day tomo bof.

VinegarTits · 04/09/2010 19:55

Have just been over to put my Nan to bed, had to strip her and give her a good wash because she got in a bit of a mess when she went the loo Blush she is so frail and confused and covered in sores from the cancer, it is just awful to see her like that Sad

mittz · 04/09/2010 20:13

Hi Fanny Smile How are things?

Viny that is sad. It just doesn't seem fair. I hate it that the elderly suffer after all they have done.Sad

wastingaway · 04/09/2010 20:14

Evening all.

It looks great Bof.

Well done Jet! Grin

We are attempting to fire up the old PC that's been stashed at MILs for a year to get stuff off it.
Hope there's nothing important as it's not looking good.

Any of you guys watch Twin Peaks? I got season 2 for my birthday and re-watching it after nearly 20 years it is even weirder and funnier than I remember. Grin

BitOfFun · 04/09/2010 20:33

"are you treating the grout with mould and mildrew resister or have you got special stuff in the grout?"

La la la not listening Grin

VinegarTits · 04/09/2010 20:38

Apart from my mum, my Nan has been the biggest female influence in my life, and i just want to cry seeing her like this, this is the woman who taught me to fight! she was a battle axe who would back down to no man, feisty and passionate, her mum was a single parent and also deaf so she learned to defend herself very young. My dad is an only child so i am her only grand daughter and proud to be so

sorry im getting drunk and emotional tonight, ignore me Blush

wastingaway · 04/09/2010 20:41

Oh Vinny, don't be sorry. She sounds like an amazing lady. Good on you looking after her. Smile
