Hello, can I join this thread .
I haven't read it all - it's huge!

My nappy life : I've got two dds - nearly 2yo and 6 weeks. DD1 in bumgenius and fluffles at night, dd2 in diddy diapers and fluffles at night. I love fluffles and can't believe they don't make them any more, dd1 loves having her fluffy on before bed and often starts saying 'fluffy' in a pitiful voice when she is tired.

The diddy diapers are starting to get a bit harder on the cotton lining - any advice? Could I be using to much washing liquid? DH nearly fainted when I suggested using the tumble drier for a few minutes! atm I dry them on an airer.

mumface · 06/02/2010 10:09

Hi bambipie,welcome!
You could try Bold 2-in-1 it's the only one with conditioner you can use on cloth as it's a clay based softener and won't clog the fibres. Are you only using half to a quarter of normal amount of detergent? A 5 min tumble at the end of drying process will also fluff them up a bit.
Some find it hard to follow this thread-it moves fast as we are all very chatty and fluffenthusiastic (new word)

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 12:19

he bambipie ; I'm going all mushy and broody at the thought of a 6 week old diddy diapered bottom

have you tried giving them a 60 wash without any detergent and then lots of rinses till water runs clear? they may just need a bit of a strip.

I switched to bold on the advice here, and it has been the best nappy decision I have made; they always smell gorgeous now (well maybe not when full of poo!!)

bambinex do one similar to the fluffles called a teddy, and lollipop do the softee, if you were after more fluffy nappies.

hello bambiepie - welcome - I have just toilet trained my last ds. I would also recommend lollipop softees.

having house tidy up - big sort out - reloading the loft with the christmas stuff that has been in garage for 5 weeks! May even venture towards teh ironing pile. Boys outside although ernie now watching peppa pig.

am a bit fed up of following them around tidying up the mess - feeling like a bit of a banshee mummy!!! The mud on the carpet is the worst when they just run straight in with thri muddy trainers on. Also ernie has coloured in 3 carpets and several walls with felt tip .... (((groans under strain of cleaning lol lol ))))

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 22:32

octo, I have had a shit day as well re clearing up mess and clutter and shouting all the time. DD said to DH that she "doesn't like mummy" earlier . But, I have gutted DS1's room and thrown out two bin bags full of old broken toys and rubbish that was just lying around in there. Have also promised him hard cash if he keeps the floor clean....and made him a wee den underneath his loft bed which has redeemed me a bit I think. I also dug out an old rainbow bed canopy thing that DS1 had when he was little and out it over DD's bed so she is happy now too.

Quick question....bumgenius econobum and flip. I have been looking at them on baba me, who are extending their BOGOF offer, and want to get some just to try (I love my BG v3 and people have been asking me about these), but am very confused by all the inserts and covers. Is the econobum just the same thing, but in white and with only one insert option? and is the stay dry "prefold" for the flip the same insert that goes in a pocket BG? Also, has anyone got the organic cotton and what's it like? I'm just not seeing the hype really, as they look to me to be essentially a fancy (and expensive) prefold? or am I missing something?

oops, that was several questions, not one . ta muchly x

Have just been discussing flips on other thread. Not sure about Econobum but from what I gather it looks the same outer, just white and without the flaps to hold in place.
The insert for the flip is the same size as larger pocket insert but with a stay dry suede cloth layer and seams to fold down in size. Not tried the organic cotton one, but I imagine you would need a liner if you wanted a dry bum. The benefits over a prefold are that you can pre-prepare the nappy to pop on in one piece like a pocket and it will sit in place ready. I would say flips are an AI2 and Econobum are a prefold.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 22:52

Pop-ins are just another sort of fancy prefold aren't they? like itti bittis?

mumface · 06/02/2010 23:02

To be technical I would say if the absorbent bit is held in place by poppers (or flaps!) it's an AI2. If it's loose in the wrap it's a prefold.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 23:50

...I was just being flippant

octothechildherder · 07/02/2010 08:46

LOL daisy

I have also been through their rooms with bin bags and through all our stuff and collected up loads for a jumble sale coming up at the school.

I have moved all their shoes from under stairs into the garage onto rack so they have no need to walk down hall carpet with their muddt shoes on.

Planning quiet morning then taking ted into Bath for some time out together.

I am going to sell off all my nappies now as ernie def dry. He took off his night nappy the other night aswell - in the night and was dry in the morning

LackaDAISYcal · 07/02/2010 15:25

Oooh, Octo, we will get first dibs, won't we?

poor bumble has been in the wars. He has a pretty solid lip tie on his top lip which caused me no end of grief BFing in the early days, and he has a big gap between his front top teeth. Well this morning, he face planted against the leg of the kitchen table and has ripped it clean away . I had read that this can happen and although there was LOADS of blood, it stopped pretty quickly and other than a bit swollen and him being a bit drooly, he seems fine. He won't let me in to see if he has knocked the teeth themselves though and I only got to see inside his mouth by hanging him upside down and tickling him. Now, hopefully it'll have taken away the worry of gappy teeth and braces later on in life!

treedelivery · 07/02/2010 16:49

Hello all!

Have a sort of computer set up. Can't saty long as it is painfully slow and dd1 is wanting me.

I have only great things to say about the Poncho2Go - my mum zoomed off up the road in it the other day, with H stuck out. She loved it.

Bet I've missed loads of news haven't I?

What is up with your mouth mumface? Sounds horrid!

Daisy - poor poor Bumble. Maybe you can have a nosey when he is asleep.

Jenny, sorry to hear you have closed the site. What will you do with the nappies? Sell them on to another site or something?

Shocking news of the dry last baby Octo Mumbled congratulations, think of the laundry reduction

Other new fluff news - the Bambooty I tested, it's good. We likey. I go back to work real real soon and may.....shock....are you ready.....buy a new new nappy. I think I only got some BG's off Octo, the rest have need preloved really. Plus the new ones I get to test 'cos I am a lucky bugger

JennyPenny22 · 07/02/2010 16:53

Oh no, poor bumble Hopefully his teeth will be OK. Elouise has a chip in her front tooth and it doesn't bother her. When I was a toddler - I fell off a climbing frame and knocked ALL of my teeth back into my gums! And I turned out OK But did give my parents a fright!

mumface · 07/02/2010 19:09

Tree- have had a tooth pulled out.
Had a lovely afternoon child free shopping and lunch at subway. The boys dad had them. Bought a new red linen top to celebrate my 11lb weight loss since xmas.
