Which of these places do you let your children run around naked?

  1. Public paddling pool
  2. Outdoor swimming pool
  3. Whilst using the play equipment at the park
  4. Beer garden
  5. Your street

ChippingIn, thank you

I do know where you are coming from, it is a lovely time and a very large part of me is saddened that I don't see just see innocence I also see something that someone could take advantage of

ChippingIn · 02/06/2009 17:28

KCIA - I do too (see something that someone could take advantage of), however, (not having been in your terrible position) I just try not to think about it as much as possible. I do cover them up more than I would if this wasn't even a passing thought (iyswim), I so my best not to let it stop the children doing what I think they should be able to do, but I don't always succeed and I totally understand/respect your decision to go the other way with this.

I hate that we even have something to discuss...

I know...

I feel somewhat reluctant to post here, partly because it a thread that has been dormant for so long. But I was going to post when I first came across mums net but I forgot about it until I found it bookmarked

Not read all the posts, sorry to many, so if this has been covered already apologies

I won't answer the question as it seems inappropriate for my first post

however today we went to the beach, lovely weather, beach fairly crowded. I understand parents who are reluctant to allow their children to go nude on the beaches and why

But go abroad, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Cyprus among others and there are no such concerns, children go around naked on the beach, by the pool and so on with nothing on, many british. Yet in the UK everyone seems sure there is a perv just waiting to take photos and photoshop them.

Sweden seems to have a similar attitude to the UK

So why the difference in attitude I wonder

Maybe in our garden if there is no direct sunlight, but this is because I have a sun safety obsession which is probably way past healthy and into bizarre.

Naked toddlers are just cute, they are so free and unconcerned about their bodies. A friend in Oz has a huge (UV blocking) sail arrangement over her pool/BBQ area and he has been naked there.

Oh dear, sorry didn't realise it was an old thread.

Only in our garden. Inappropriate anywhere else, even for toddlers.

Depending on age of child and if ok without a nappy, possibly yes to 1 and 2. But could only see this happening if we didn't know they would be swimming and so didn't have their swimming things with us.

No to 3, 4 and 5 - just can't see how being naked in those sorts of places is a better option than having clothes on Confused
