4andnotout · 26/04/2009 22:23

I can fit both size inserts in either larges or mediums mine are alway getting mixed up in the wash!

soon2befamilyof4 · 27/04/2009 00:31

Right, officially testing newborn cloth tomorrow after being in sposies since birth.

hmmm....what to try first!?!? Think the XS sandies as they are the smallest.

Baby was 7lb 6oz so a good weight but is swamped, even in disposables? She has been wearin premmie nappies as even size 1 - which are meant to be from 4lb are really big on her?!

TheNatty · 27/04/2009 10:23

Glad the stuff arrived Natty.

Good luck in washables tomorrow Soon!

Someone wanted a 'what are you using' update - here I'm loving thirsties, nappies and wraps. The nappies meet the needs of my hard hard water, and also dry quite quickly. Still like fleece and fluff, but can be a bit smelly and HUGE of course! Thirsties are so so soft and cosy. Love em.

DD2 has finally grown into pockets, so have to say fuzzi bunz are working a treat. Old style but really effective.

BG great but I dunno -she seems to sweat in them. I feel they may trigger rash. ANyone feel the same?
Also itti - only got 2 and small is going to have t go soon. But not leaking anymore as she has fattened up. What about hemp though - I know it takes ages to dry, but it really really does doesn't it! Find ittis work way better with fleece liner - I think wee runs straight off their inserts.

Love love love fleece liners. Used them in dispo's this weekend when was away. Was about her bum all weekend - wished I'd put her in proper nappies to spread the word!

Night time nappies are fleece with airflow - as the wee seems to condense off so she is never sopping, and I don't change her overnight so very happy with that. Will move to wool or fleece wrap when she is mobile.

Sigh love nappies. Only 3 months in so ages ahead of us, yipee!

soon2befamilyof4 · 27/04/2009 21:06

Right, put BG on newborn. They seem HUGE! Does the job, but comes right up her body. Not too sure about them on her TBH. Will give it a chance though. I am waiting for her to wake up so I can change her into an XS sandys with a tots size 0 wrap.

I have heard that you can actually use the sandys with no wrap for newborns? I guess it makes sence as there is hardly any wee but I just feel a bit nervous about it! I guess I should try it with a wrap for a bit and see if the outside of the nappy actually gets wet.

DD2 has moved onto BF poo explosions so we didn't actually test out the cloth with the sticky first poo.

TBH I have been very suprised to not actually be that bothered about putting cloth on ATM. Even DD1 has been in sposies . I don't really know why. I guess it is because we have the sposies here that if they don't get used now, they will be too small and just end up being given away.

I have just realised that I must talk far too much on this thread - it seems to have slowed right down since I went into labour . LOL. I am sure once we have stopped using the sposies I will be back on here more.

Going to visit FIL tomorrow, about an hour or so away. Not sure what to do nappy wise. Might just end up with sposies but then make sure that is the last day of using them.

4andnotout · 27/04/2009 22:04

twoclimbingboys · 27/04/2009 22:23

4 - sorry should have given you all first offer on the fluffles but didn't really think the whole thing through. I sold them yesterday.

Actually, I am feeling really and a little about it as someone e-mailed me to say that I was bad mannered! Is this naughty of me? 3 people asked for photos so I took them and sent them to all 3. Another lady then e-mailed (without asking for photos) to say that she definitely wanted them so I said fine and sold them (I still decided to send photos so that she could see the stains). How am I supposed to organise it? I feel really awkward now.

soon and tree - young babies and girly fluff I am most !

4andnotout · 27/04/2009 22:26

rusmum yes i still have the purple one i actually have 3 can you send me your address and i'll get it posted out asap, might be thursday now depending on dp.

twoclimbin... No worries, i didn't need them i just love a bargain

rusmum · 27/04/2009 22:29

4 what you like- will try the purple 1 and if i like may buy another as am REALLY short on wraps!!! Will send you addy on FB and you do same!!!! cheers!

4andnotout · 27/04/2009 22:32

I have hundreds of wraps, im selling all my small airflows and medium and large blueberries.

soon2befamilyof4 · 28/04/2009 00:04

ohh maybe my cloth obsession is coming back after a few days off. LOL. Have been trying out my sandys tonight and love them. DD hasn't had one on for more than an hour because she keeps pooing but I really like them. She doesn't appear to have a "big cloth bum" in them at all, they fit her nicely, still a bit baggy on the smallest setting, but we have even had that problem with size 1 sposies which are apparently from 4lb! So must be her shape. I have used a tots bots size 0 wrap over the top, but TBH I think the wrap is a bit irrelevant ATM as she isn't likely to leak. Does need a wrap though as even after a very short time in the sandys, it was wet to touch on the outside. They are very soft and fluffy, although I think I might of tumble dried them after I dyed them (They are pinks and purples ). So not sure if they will be soft line dried.

Off to see if I can find some preloved XS sandies as I only have a few. I saw somebody had some a few weeks ago but when I was told I was having a big baby, I decided to leave it till she was born and I had tried them out. Not that we have any money but still.

TheNatty · 28/04/2009 08:14

soon have you thought of folding a muslin and using it as a nappy?? thats what im doing to bridge the gap, ive got size tots wraps and muslins as i can get that combo on my dd doll lol!

OP posts:
4andnotout · 28/04/2009 08:18

Morning all

Sun is shining so nappies are out on the line, soon i have followed your recommendation and switched to bold 2 in 1 and the nappies smell lush, i dont think i was putting enough powder in really as i live in a hard water area and was only using 40ml so have upped it to 70ml and they smell fresh as a daisy!

Should have a bbos on the way, but i think that is it for fluffy post, i need to try and save some cash to buy a lightweight double buggy or 2 zapps for when we go camping.

soon did you get your bargain nappy bundle?

soon2befamilyof4 · 28/04/2009 10:48

No, my nappy bindle still isn't hear! The lady went on holiday and then I went into labour etc. She said she would sent it mon/tues but hasn't emailed back yet. I will send her a message tonight if I don't hear from her. I was over £160 with fees etc so really it should be sent soon. I still havent told hubby though! No chance of hiding it when he is on paternity leave though!

You are lucky to have sun. Its been horrible the last few days here. Quite good though as I don't feel so bad that I have done no washing what so ever.

I have got to wash the few washables that Talia has worn, but they have been dyed so should be washed seperatly for a couple of washes. I have pink and purple ones. Do you think the pink and purple would be ok together? I don't really want to do several washes of just about 2 nappies - obviously very wasteful, especially when they were only worn for a very short time so arn't that dirty.

Natty - I did think about using Muslins, but TBH I am very lazy and DD2 screams the place down when changing. I am not very good at things that you have to fold! Lol. I haven't even used a nipper before. I used prefolds on DD when she was this age but they were rubbish. Poo on wrap every time, still had leaks on clothes etc.

The XS sandys are very good though. Would definatly recomend them so far. As we are off to FILs for today we are going to use sposies for the day. But will be trying out the washables again when we get back. Think I am going to try the nipper nappies I have, some were from 4 .

2CB - For what its worth, I dont think you were rude to sell. I always sell to the first person who says they definatly want them. You could get hundreds of enquiries and only a couple actually get back to you with what they want and you would be there forever. I wouldn't worry about it. .
