Hi ya! Been out at FILs for the day and took washables with no leaks. Used BG all day I think.

Ilove - I would be interested in the lollipop bamboo - what are they like? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Picked up some nappies from freecycle and have got 5 brand new small sandys and 5 brand new MEOS as well as 2 brand new ME wraps! And got some preloved size 1 tots and a huge bag of prefolds and a big wet bag! Well worth the trip.

Has everybody else tried freecycle for preloved nappies? Would really recommend it! Obviously you can't be choosy on there but it is a good way to build up your stash or try out new nappies.

How many MEOS do you all think I would need IF I were to have 2 babies full time in them?

ilovemydogandMrObama · 22/03/2009 22:09

Soon - Lollipop Bamboo are a reasonable nappy. Good workhorse rather than show horse. Can't remember ever having a leak from them. Some of the velcro isn't in the best condition, but have a look first.

Email me on: [email protected] give me your address and I'll send them to you. It would be great if you could make a small donation to the Wallace and Gromit Appeal for Bristol Children's Hospital, but I'll leave it with you...

Hi guys, long time no see . DS1 (now nearly 4yo fgs) is back in nappies again, having given up totally on going to the toilet. He is too big for his washables - which DS2 is now wearing, so I am looking for alternatives.

I have replied to your ad Soontobe re training pants - if you still have them, and am considering a purchase of Pocket bots training pants too (I knew I should have ordered them months ago)

Does anyone have any other ideas? I have also looked at Minki Yoyos which I think could be good for night times but they are pricey - am liking the idea of their extenders so I could have both boys wearing the same nappies though......

Washersaurus · 22/03/2009 22:33

Re. the 2 in cloth full-time question btw.

I think my nappy stash was around 30-40 nappies for both boys; including tots bots, MEO's and Diddy Diapers.

MEO's were my change bag standby and nursery nappies. I find them (and Sandys) no good for long periods or overnight (or for my heavy wetting DS1).

I have 3 bucket system and a large capacity washer so only wash every 2-3 days, so I suppose that you could really halve that number - depending on how often you want to wash!

I'd go for as many as you can a) afford, b) have room to store

soon2befamilyof4 · 22/03/2009 22:46

ilove. Thanks, I will email you now.. I am more than happy to make a donation, I think thats a lovely idea.

washer - Sorry, training pants all long gone, forgot to update the add. They all went within hours!

I already have lots of MEOS, its just that I seem to be getting more and more and was thinking about getting rid of some of the older, tatty ones but wanted to make sure I have enough for if I decide not to continue with the pocket nappies. I find that as long as I use a snap in booster (I like the staydry ones) then I can get a decent time during the day. No way for night time but I am yet to find a nappy to last through the night on DD.

Last night we tried 3 EP Hemp inserts and an 8 layer bamboo insert and we still had leaks! Praying the upsey daisy works as otherwise I am about to give up trying out washables at night. Although she still wets though disposables on a wet night so still not winning!

soon2befamilyof4 · 22/03/2009 22:49

OMG! My bambino mio wrap just sold for £7.50 PLUS postage on ebay! I started it at 99p!

Washersaurus · 22/03/2009 23:00

Oh well, thanks anyway!

The only nappy that ever saw DS1 through the night was an unbleached nippa tots bots with 2 microfibre boosters and a fleece wrap. We kept him in these until fairly recently when the wraps stopped fitting him. We did sometimes have a problem with wicking from the fleece but generally that was a leakproof arrangement.

If you can find the organic pop in boosters for the MEO's they are SO much nicer and thicker than the stay-dry ones (which are less absorbant than the other types because of the stay dry layer).

I have a couple of organic MEO's and several of the organic boosters - they are definitely more absorbant. They are the first ones I reach for in the nappy drawer anyway.

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/03/2009 23:04

Did everyone I sent Fluffy post to receive ok?

ilovemydogandMrObama · 22/03/2009 23:07

Have you tried Motherease Toddlerease?

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 22/03/2009 23:15

I have 1 Toddlerease (I have found 2nd hand ones to be quite rare indeed). They are OK, but at the moment we would still have to use the PUL wrap over the top (as DS1 is totally unreliable) and that isn't quite as easy for him to pull up and down.

It is really maddening as he has been totally clean and dry and wearing proper pants since last summer! I don't mind investing in new stuff as DS2 will get to use them too (unless by some miracle he potty trains much much quicker than DS1)

TheLadyEvenstar · 22/03/2009 23:48

washer what about a pair of wool shorties? they can be pulled up or down easily just ask ds2 18m he is an expert grrrrrrrrrr

thebluefoxategreensocks · 23/03/2009 08:58

soon: wow, surprised people are prepared to pay so much for a bambino mio wrap!! Good for you though! And I think we're in the same boat with night nappies, huh?! I was hoping my UDs would come in the post today, but no fluffy post! I had a very soaked little boy last night at 2am - don't always know where exactly the nappy/wool cover is going wrong as I'm half asleep! But it seemed to just pour out onto the bed - the nappy only being about half wet! Guess it's just the fit of it? I ended up putting him in a disposable after trying in vain to get both a Bumble and a Fluffle on him!! He's got nasty eczema and was scratching like mad, so I just couldn't possibly get the nappy to nippa on correctly where it wouldn't leak, when his feet were kicking/scratching like crazy!
