trying to have a clearout!

Rachel - I will be trying it again tonight. We have been a bit dissorganised because we have been so busy. DD was in disposables yesterday! I hated seeing them everytime her pretty dress lifted up - she had a manky disposable showing instead of a pretty pocket. DH managed to convince me to just do it for the day as we were with his anti washable family and it is just easier than getting into the usual debate about it.

I am off out for the day with NO children! Think it is the first time since DD was born! So just making up a load of pockets for DH to use today.

I actually found I changed DD MORE yesterday in her disposables than I would in washables. And off course, she now has a sore bum.

Rachel, sorry to hear there is still no baby. Still, just make the most of it as once he/she arrives they will be here for life! We are going ot most days, trying to pass the time till baby arrives. I must be mad, as I am taking people out on days out in my car as I have a 7 seater so I drive. But somebody else could always drive it in an emergency. We are off to legoland on thursday, as my annual pass runs out this month and I don't have enough tesco clubcard points to renew it straight away.

oooh soon sounds exciting!
where did you go?

i am looking forward to all these iminant births, and to see what nappies fit babies and what dont.
i am going to get a bunch of newborn wraps and use muslins if my pocets really dont fit baby. mind you at my last scan on wednesday he weighs 2lb and im only 27 weeks! another 13 weeks of growth should result in a 7lb baby i reckon if not bigger

Oh I didn't go anywhere exciting, Had the dentist and then collected my Sister from uni for the easter hols. But it was my mums birthday so she came too and we went for lunch while we were there which was nice.

Have now been booked in for root canal treatment under sedation on 29th on the condition that this baby has been born by then! So need to do my best to get baby out on time! Think baby might have engaged today as bump seems to have shrunk a bit and I can feel a lot more pressure.

I am annoyed with DH. First time he looked after DD for more than a couple of hours (although still only from 11.30 till 5ish so not that long). She had Mcdonalds chips for lunch because he went out and forgot to bring her food, she has been wearing disposable nappies for the same reason and has been eating chocolate buscuits so now won't eat dinner. AND he let her sleep which means she will be awake all evening. Came home and she is sitting half naked watching tv. ARGH! I go out for 6 hours and he messes up everything! He is annoyed at me because I came home and moaned at him. AND we had washing in the washer that I put on last night and he was meant to hang up and didn't so hoping an extra rinse will be enough to stop it smelling? Do you think I am being unreasonable to be pissed off with him? She hasn' had anything to drink either (I don't think) so has had all those salty chips etc with no water. Bit worried now about what is going to happen when I go into labour. If I end up with a c section or something and in for a few days then he needs to be able to do things properly.

TheNatty · 06/04/2009 18:02

this is a common problem with ppl and their DH's.

i think maybe a conversation about why each thing is important would help, sometimes men really dont understand!

and going into hospital? well a few days of chips and disposables while not ideal, really wont kill her, and sometimes its not worth crushing you DH's confidence with the kids?

just a thought, ive been with my DH 6 years and its taken a long time to realise that they have learn themselves, that nagging just makes them think f**k you.

besides when he has her three days by the end of the third he will realise WHY no naps because he will be up all night with her.

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/04/2009 18:13

Think that also worries me though Natty - he doesn't wake up when she wakes in the night. So she would just be left if he doesn't wake up (which is because he stays up playing his playststion till he is so shattered ). And not sure if he would wake up in the morning either - so she could be left for ages before he even wakes up .

TheNatty · 06/04/2009 18:54

of course it will, your a good mum and you dont want you child to feel neglected.
try not to worry, wishing you a speedy delivery and home that day (secretly praying for that myself)

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/04/2009 21:51

Rachel - Have put DD to bed in the UDNN you had tonight. I noticed while putting the nappies together though that your one and my original one are different. The fabric is slightly different colour and one is more bobbly than the other. SO it shows it must be from a different batch of fabric? If it leaks again tonight i might try emailing one of the girls at UD. They seem very nice and hopefully they will be happy to help. If it works and we don't have any problems with it, I will order at least one more and also want to try the inserts they sell for daytime pockets but a bit wary now that we have had a leak! In the meantime I am TRYING to save my paypal funds from the sales I am doing but I am not doing very well with it!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 06/04/2009 22:00

Yes, let me know how it works tonight. And if there are any further problems, then we definantly need to contact UD about it - as it seems very odd! Especially as I used it so little! He wore them only like once during the day and each of them once in the night...or possibly twice! But they just had a normal 60 degree wash with Surcare non-bio - nothing else added! And not had any problems with other normal nappies. I just get leaks when I use fleece lined nappies on Benjamin at night - but not like I have a problem with nappies in general. But hoping it was a one-off the other night and you'll have a nice dry night tonight!

soon2befamilyof4 · 06/04/2009 23:15

I will keep you updated! Any signs of labour? I can't read all the posts on the antinatal threads - moves ways too fast I have given up trying unless I am home all day.

TheNatty · 07/04/2009 10:29

got wrap cheers soon
my new motherease airflow finally came this morning, 3 weeks ago i ordered them on ebay, isnt that terrible delivery time?

soon2befamilyof4 · 07/04/2009 11:35

Thats good Natty - is it ok for you?
3 weeks ago is awful for ebay time. I do find they often take longer than if I buy from somebody on here but not 3 weeks.

DD was up all night and I got a total of 2 hours sleep .

Rachel - I tested the UDNN out last nihgt but don't really have an answer which is annoying. She pooed in it by about 2 am (didn't go to bed till 9.30pm anyway) so it didn't get a full test. It did last that stretch though. DD has just fallen asleep on the sofa so I am going to put nappy wash on now and will take a look at the insert when I take it apart. The nappy seemed pretty wet when I took it off her - but it does seem to look wet on the outside from the first wee, but carry on absorbing so not sure. I might find I need to order the night booster for it if using long term, which isn't a problem.

TheNatty · 07/04/2009 11:42

wrap looks good, a little suprised its a XL looks more like large to me, but it will certainly fit ellen, and will do new baby too so worth the money.

ebay i am not impressed with, esp as its a shop with good feedback. i reckon they forgot me and ignored me till i sent a really shitty email

also getting annoyed with how long the bumhuggers are taking to get to me, ordered them three weeks ago too, and i have run out of disposables for tom, and i wont buy another packet incase it turns up!!

grrrrr

anyone got any night nappies they want to sell me?

soon2befamilyof4 · 07/04/2009 11:51

Natty - you can alwasyy sell it on if it is too small so you shouldn't loose money anyway.

Still haven't moved my bum to do the washing

soon2befamilyof4 · 07/04/2009 12:06

Oh and my cowprint BBOS came today - looks lovely. I am going to start getting double of the ones I have already if I see them at a good price - so in the summer when the kids are out in their nappies they can be matching!! Lol. I love matching babies!

TheNatty · 07/04/2009 12:23

aww soon that sounds good lol

wrap is fine soon, i only use them for nights so long as they fit they are fine, (even if they dont they go in the baby box!!)

plenty of wraps here now, which is good saves me washing them so often, just need more night nappies now, as three between 2 children is NOT good!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 07/04/2009 12:26

soon: aww sorry you had such a bad night! Benjamin woke up at midnight and I was up with him till about half past 1. He was all tense and miserable with scratching his feet - but often that's because of wind in his tummy and needing to do a huge bladder emptying! Eventually he asked for a bottle of milk, which calmed him down a bit and then he wet his nappy. I ended up changing him just so he'd feel dry (since I can't use fleece lined nappies anymore) and eventually he went to sleep next to me. However, I was so shattered that I didn't wake up till 4:30 am to find out I was 1/4 hanging off the bed (husband was downstairs on the couch too - so not as if the bed was full...just too tired to realise where I was lying!). Then I had several quite painful contractions which kept me from falling back asleep (once I'd moved Benjamin back to his bed). Hoping this baby will come soon - not had as many pains today as I did yesterday, but I've got bloody show today...so I think something will happen sooner or later!

Hope the nappy works properly when you get to test it for a full night!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/04/2009 12:33

Go Baby!!

Just got a Blueberry Minky

Think I'm in love...

OP posts:
soon2befamilyof4 · 07/04/2009 12:45

Rachel - I had pians last night too and was hoping it was the start of something. I do have an ache in my tummy today but that is it. Me and DD have both been sick and have the runs so I think that is all it is. Annoying though - this time would be perfect as although I am not due yet - I have plenty of babysitters this week! Lol. It would also mean I have people around next week too to help out and see baby. But after that, everybody is back at work.

DD pooed in both her UDNNs last night and I put her in a disposable in the end (only nappy she didn't poo in - typical!) I did have the WNNN clean but would have been a job to find enough inseerts at that time of night that were clean and dry and not already stuffed in todays pockets!

I can't decide if I should order another 10 or even 20 EP hemp inserts so I have plenty. The thing that is putting me off is that I MIGHT order some french soy inserts instead as they are so absorbant, soft and slim fitting. The thing that puts me off the UD ones though is that they are sized. I can't really justify buying small inserts for baby when she won't really need the absorbancy but they are so slim. I actually thought DH Had changed DD into a disposable last night when I picked her up and that was in a NN!

Don't know what to do about DD. She is still asleep on the sofa. I don't want to wake her and then her fall asleep in the afternoon but then don't want to let her sleep too long encase she won't sleep tonight. I am exhausted and want to go to bed at the first chance I get tonight! Preferably about 8pm!!! DH is working till 11pm though so if she doesn't sleep then there is nothing I can do!

TheNatty · 07/04/2009 17:17

i got my BBOS today, and much as its lovely i dont think i could justify spending out on a new one lol!
got a great pic of her in it, if i can work out how to upload off my phone i will put it up for you to see

twoclimbingboys · 07/04/2009 20:16

rachel on the positive side your baby must be lovely and comfy in your bump

natty 3 weeks is crap for delivery

I got home from work tonight (I don't see the boys before bed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesdays as I work 30 hours over 3 days) to find that my DH has ignored the clean BBH and put both boys to bed in unboosted fluffles with fleece/or wool over. Saying that bless him for trying and he has done 3 loads of washing today and dinner every night recently!

twoclimbingboys · 07/04/2009 20:30

rachel/soon you both have heavy wetters could you help here at all. Mine aren't heavy wetters so i'm not sure how useful i've been!

TheNatty · 07/04/2009 21:24

TCB - my DH is rubbish at nights too, this evening he put the XL BH on DD (2) and the L BH on DS (3) and couldnt work out why the wraps wouldnt fit over them
he was trying to cover a XL nappy in a large wrap and vice versa lmao! (wraps are pink and blue so he doesnt confuse them!!)

men dont get on too well with cloth, my DC have to go into disposables when im in hospital as there is no way DH would cope with stuffing them correctly or putting them in the machine lmao!!

soon2befamilyof4 · 07/04/2009 21:52

Have just done that for you TCB.

Natty - what BBOS did you get? I have quite a few now and I do choose them first over any other nappy. Have never bought a new one though. I don't use the inserts either unless I have run out of PD inserts. I thought the idea of them was great but they just don't last long enough for us.

I am desperate to get some more PD bamboo inserts - but they are quite expensive to buy new and I can't find any preloved!

I have spoken to one of the lovely ladies at UD and they might be able to make me some onesize french soy inserts for my daytime pockets! I really hope so!

4andnotout · 07/04/2009 21:54

I have seperate drawers on the unit for the dd's nappies and make everything up with the correct inserts and boosters etc so that dp can easily put the correct nappy on! However he managed to get a size 1 totsbots on 18 month old dd3 the other day
On a lovely fluffy positive note i have loads of fluffy post to arive in the next few days, 2 bbh's, i udos, 1bbos and i think that is it for now
