4andnotout · 03/04/2009 13:55

£7.50 posted In Lime which i havent got!

mumoftoby · 03/04/2009 13:55

I only paid £3.50 for a gratefulbuns wrap posted a couple of weeks ago. I only got round to lanolising it at the weekend and put it on Toby last night only to realise it has 3 holes in it. One on the waistband and one on each of the leg cuffs. You can't tell off, but on him they are each about the size of a 20p. Do you think it is worth contacting the seller? I'm a touch miffed really.

mumoftoby · 03/04/2009 14:15

I know Natty. I bought 1 fleece wrap off ebay 'used a handful of times'. She either had a hundred fingers or did a sandpaper rinse - lol!

rusmum · 03/04/2009 14:22

TheNatty · 03/04/2009 15:13

ooh i am very

ive never even seen one in the flesh, but if the were OS i would buy them!

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 17:57

same here natty, sized jsut doesn't work out financially good enough for us.

Can I ask how long you get in a bamboo tots AIO? I tried it today for the first time and we had leaks very quickly? It has been washed at least 3 times.

I have generally had good experiences of buying preloved. BUT I am not fussy at all and stains etc don't bother me. Wholes obviously would though! I would def contact seller if there are wholes as that isn't fair. Although she might ot have realised if you can't see it when it isn't on.

I keep seeing Muslins recommended for stuffing for a newborn pocket - is this really absorbant enough? Seems like nothing! But then I am usd to DDs super wee so not sure really. We have plenty of muslins though and would be nice and slim fitting in a BG.

treedelivery · 03/04/2009 18:00

Hi all.

No nappy post - but entire stash used, washed and dried in sun. Yay!

Mus;ins worked brill for us Soon, the wee is no problem, and the big black poo a disaster so muslin just went in bin. Also used a fluffy without a wrap, those were the days!

TheNatty · 03/04/2009 18:16

soon have you got one of these?

www.babykind.co.uk/econappiorder.htm
look same as BG but patterns

also i have just sorted out my nappy stash and found a load of these
www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Smart-Nappy-reusable-nappy/dp/B000TUW3H4/sr=1-6/qid=1238778712/ref=sr_ 1_6/280-8813377-9927047?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=61630031&mcb=core
the newborn size is tiny, and its cotton one side and microfibre the other. i put one in a BG and it its perfect.
have a look at one when you are next in mothercare, at 2 for a fiver thats a cheap soultion to what to put in a BG, and as they are more then just microfibre i reckon would do a while absorbancy wise.

the tots bots will take quite a few washes to get to full absorbancy, mine must have been about 5, just booster them up for now.

mind you even now i put one easy peasy hemp insert in mine, but i find that does me 4 hours easy.
dont forget they are only bamboo.. so dont expect miracles lol

rusmum · 03/04/2009 19:52

cloth and smells rash???

DD is 8 months oten they REALLY smell esp night nappies- odeas??
Also she got blistering rash at mo! This because of cloth?? teething?? Or would get anyway???

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 20:40

Natty - I don't have any of those pockets! I want one now though! Very expensive though so I won't. Although I have been thinking about becoming a nappy advisor for babykind so would be able to get them a bit cheaper.

I am going to try and sell off a load of books over the next few weeks as I am an Usborne organiser but not likley to be doing much with the newborn and would rather have the funds for nappies! I am truely addicted to buying preloved nappies!

rusmum - what do you mean about the smells? You mean her wee smells? Or the poo? The dirty nappy bucket? Or clean nappies?

With the rash - my DD gets it when we are using disposable wipes? Not sure what you are using? If you think it is the nappies I would give them an extra rinse at the end of the wash to make sure it isn't the washing powder. What nappies are you using? If they are not fleece lined I would use fleece liners to keep them soft against the skin.

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 21:48

Natty, me again. I need your addy for the wrap if you would still like it? No hurry for funds. If you don't wnat it though, don't worry as I haven't had any other enquires anyway about that one. Just let me know as I will be going to the PO tomorrow.

rusmum · 03/04/2009 22:01

nappies ok then as soon as wees in them they reek!!

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 22:13

Is she drinking much? Could it be a urine infection? Wee shouldn't smell like that. Night nappies you might expect it with, but not daytime.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 03/04/2009 22:30

rusmum: if nappies give an awful smell once she wees in them...I'd say you have a problem with detergent build up! What detergent/how much are you using? Do you do a pre-rinse before washing? I had this problem last year (after using cloth nappies for nearly 3 years!) and it was awful...the smell was horrible as soon as the nappy got wet! However, I started giving them several cold water rinses and also washing them without any detergent (once they'd been washed to get "clean" first) and soon they were sorted. I'd never previously done pre-rinses (never occurred to me until someone mentioned it!), but it made a world of difference. Also I started measuring the detergent - like 2 tablespoons of non-bio powder for a full load....and also giving them an extra rinse when finished. Have you noticed if there are any bubbles left when they have their final rinse?

TheNatty · 03/04/2009 22:31

u still about soon?

i need you details to pay and to send you my address.
u may have already given them to me, but i think i mislaid them!

swampster · 03/04/2009 22:34

GK Funtimes, anyone?

TheNatty · 03/04/2009 22:34

yes i had this with my MEOS, i think because they were preloved and the previous owner didnt wash them right.

anyway i put them on a 60 degree wash with no detergent, then a 40 with detergent, then an extra rinse.

i did this every wash for a fortnight, just to be sure. and it seemed to fix the problem.

oh and also try changing your washing powder?

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 22:43

Yup I am here. My email was on the for sale thread but will put it here anyway
jennifer _ webb @ hotmail . co . uk

Without spaces obviously.

I am still packaging things up. I have a huge parcel to post - I had to put in 2 carrier bags and then inside a black bag and use loads of tape! Its the only thing I could find big enough. Only 14 nappies too! Just all bulky ones! Praying it doesn't cost more to post than would make it worth while! Oh well, I need the space anyway.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 03/04/2009 22:44

yes, I've had it more than a couple of times with pre-loved nappies! Speaking of which, my "fancy" HL BedBug nappy seems to have problems in that regard - and haven't got it sorted yet. However, someone told me that out of 5 used Bed Bugs they'd bought, 4 had a problem with detergent build up - so seems it's a problem with them. Maybe they've got too many layers of dense fabric close together? In any case, it's annoying! All my other nappies are OK, but when he's worn this twice at night so far, both times he wakes up and the smell is soooooooo strong!
