Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ok - I will put it on radiator now. They are not on at the moment but will be on at some stage in the day.

It is possible my DD came into contact with chicken pox yesterday! MIL knew one of her mindees had it and didn't think to tell me when she was looking after DD!! I don't mind her having it as it gets it over and done with BUT if she gets it she might still be contagious when our knew baby is born and I don't want a newborn with chicken pox really! AND even if she has gone past contagious, I doubt she would be allowed to come and visit me in hospital! I really can't see them letting a spotty child into the birthing centre with lots of newborns! . Any other time I would be glad for her to get it as my BIL still hasn't had it at 19 and is nervous everytime anybody has it!

Deemented · 31/03/2009 10:00

Ohhhhhhh!!!!!!! I shall conver you with lovliness yet!!!

Hollow Oak gorgeousness

At the moment i can't find a link to Jimmy Riddles, but trust me... they are lush!!!

Of course that should have been familyof4andout...

I have been lusting after Hollow Oaks for a while though the plain squishy gorgeous ones. I have to say I find embroidery on nappies a wee bit naff .

swampster · 31/03/2009 10:28

AIBU to be allergic to my MIL? She is lovely, kind, generous, fantastic with the boys, but...

She insists on spraying herself all over with various noxious chemicals (aka 'perfume'?) which make me wheeze, struggle to breathe and bring on my asthma.

Deemented · 31/03/2009 10:36

See that's just why i love my MIL - she's been dead 30 years!!!

And i have tie-dyed nappies from HO

soon2befamilyof4 · 31/03/2009 10:38

Lol swampster - I wish I was allergic to my MIL! Mine is generous and gives/buys us loads of stuff, but she is still a nasty woman!

Those hollow oaks look nice. You can guess what I am going to ask? "Are they onesize?" I don't DO sized nappies! (well, except the newborn ones I have and DDs night nappies).

Deemented · 31/03/2009 12:28

they have two sizes - size 1, which my dd at ten months still fits into, and size 2, which is about 20lbs onwards. I'm raving about them cause i've justb this morning got a gorgeous purple lilac tie dyed nappy from there - tis ruddy gawjus!!!

soon2befamilyof4 · 31/03/2009 12:40

See I would then need size 2 for DD1 and size 2 for DD2 which would bug me. Otherwise I would be tempted to try one.

soon2befamilyof4 · 31/03/2009 15:01

I am so silly. I just sold my WNNN and promised to post tomorrow and then realised that is what I had planned to use tonight! To post tomorrow I need it packaged and ready to go tonight as I give to DH to take to work with him and he starts at 7am! lol. They haven't paid yet so if they don't pay today I will use it and just wash first thing tomorrow. Opps.

It is good it has sold though as although we get leak free nights with it I am not over keen and I have to really over stuff it so DD has a big bum! I don't have to do that with an UD so would rather put the money towards that. Have also sold my minki pocket so put those together and i have covered the UD I bought from rachel.

rusmum · 31/03/2009 16:28

Soon- bumbles good for night- i never had a leak! i am selling a few too!

soon2befamilyof4 · 31/03/2009 16:33

Its ok, I am going to stick with UDNN I think as I know they work for us. DD is a very heavy wetter and haven't found anything else that works without stupid amount of boosting. What size are you selling though and how much? Guess it never hurts to try something new! I have a BBH that I want to try out but it is still in the prewashing stage. Been done 2-3 times now so should be ready by the time I need it if I use my other night nappies first. Shame it isn't fleece lined though.
What is the bumble like? What fabrics etc? Good for heavy wetters?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/03/2009 16:53

soon: Bumbles are OK, but I found they can be hard to get the right fit. Elastic seems to easily go slack on them, and then with trying to nippa them together...also, once boosted enough to work for Benjamin, they just weren't snug around his legs at all and the gaps caused leaks even when the fleece wasn't a problem! They did work for several weeks for us - and I was pleased with a cheap, natural fibre (cotton) night nappy....but I got rid of all of mine recently.

Got my Holden's Landing Bed Bug in the post today!!!! It's really nice looking - hand dipped dyed bamboo velour, with pumpkin orange front and green back! Going to try Benjamin in that tonight, though I don't plan on investing in a stash of them for nights - toooo expensive! LOL Getting some Quick Flips and Baby Bufters, as well as fitted/one-size cotton velour Swaddlebees to add to night stash for trialing! So we'll see what works best!

Last night we had a leak-free night using a fitted Upsy Daisy (something I bought pre-loved, in a well-used state), it was bamboo velour I think, tho going a bit threadbare! But stuffed it with extra bits and thanks to no fleece inside, we had no wet bed!!!

soon2befamilyof4 · 31/03/2009 17:32

Oh if they are cotton I doubt they would be enough for DD and there is no way I would get a nipper on her! It is hard enough getting an applix pocket on her! She just doesn't stay still!

Have had quite a lot of people say they want to buy my nappies today but nobody has paid yet. Hope they all do! If anybody sees a preloved UDNN PLEASE tell me about it! lol. I would like a few but it is getting a bit expensive. Although hoping when I have 2 in nappies, I will be washing everyday, so could get away with 3? What do you think? They take quite a while to dry though, but will soon be summer hopefully! y insert and booster dried very quicly today on the airer - no where near a radiator or anything.

Anybody got any tips for getting stains out of some white cotton nappies ready to sell? Sun is our usual method but we don't have any of that! I need to do it now really too!
Wash thinking about a wash at 95 with some nappy san? Not very environmentally friendly but it is only a one off. Just want them to look nicer to sell.

TheNatty · 31/03/2009 20:18

i dont know soon ive never washed mine that high, might the elastic shrink with the heat?

TheNatty · 31/03/2009 20:19

oh and who was it who was selling me the WNNN? ive read they are mostly bamboo? dont know if they will do me i seem to need hemp.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/03/2009 20:53

TheNatty: It's me - did you see the 2 messages or so I left you on the thread last night? photos too and was asking you to confirm that you wanted them etc, since someone else on here was asking about them too. Anyway, if you find the message and see the pics, the aqua blue one is I think a cotton outer with hemp inserts - and the white rainbow one is bamboo outer and bamboo inserts.

mumoftoby · 31/03/2009 21:10

rachel - I would definitely love both if natty decides against them.

more to the point any sign of movement/arrival of dc3 yet? i'm quite excited for both you and soon!

I have bought DS2 a boots swim nappy on ebay (DS1 has one and they are much better than the hydrokids ones I have). It is on its way to me in a bundle with a small boots nappy. Does anyone want the small one - to fit 6-11 kgs? It isn't in packaging but is new - £1.50 posted if by gifted paypal? It has blue with fish on, aplix and ties.

TheNatty · 31/03/2009 21:13

rachel can i have just the bamboo one? would you mind? the cotton wont do at all she wees to much.
do you mind splitting them? may be able to pay for it tonight if so i think i have enough in pp

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/03/2009 21:16

mumoftoby: Yes, won't forget you! Just waiting to hear back from TheNatty - guess it's always possible she might want the one with hemp inserts - so if she doesn't want the bamboo one, then guess you could each have one!

No, no sign of baby coming yet! LOL And tomorrow is my due date...I can't go late! Already feeling annoyed with people asking if the baby has been born yet...I'm not even due yet...and I will tell people when baby is here! BTW, I DON'T mean you or other online people asking - that's perfectly OK with me! I mean ppl like MIL and other family! As if the baby would have been born and MIL won't have been told!

TheNatty · 31/03/2009 21:18

my logic is a bamboo one with inserts plus hemp boosters would work better then a cotton one with inserts plus a booster? cotton is one of the worst absorbers isnt it?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/03/2009 21:23

TheNatty: Yes, certainly - you can have just the 1. You know that the one with cotton outer does have the hemp inserts, right? But totally up to you which one you want to try - so £8.50 for the one sent on its own. And I can hopefully get it posted to you in the morning!

mumoftoby: So if you want the remaining WNNN (after TheNatty has decided which she wants), will be £8.50 inc postage and can hopefully get it sent to you in the morning! Paypal to [email protected]

mumoftoby · 31/03/2009 21:24

rachel - my mil phoned every single day I went over with DS2. It really pissed me off as she has only seen DS1 about 8 times in total (he is 28 months old) and only bothered to come and see DS2 when he was a few weeks old. She didn't even phone to see if he was ok in those few weeks before she saw him. weird.

Do you know what flavour you are having?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/03/2009 21:25

saying you'll add your own hemp along with the bamboo ones? Guess that should be quite good. Cotton isn't bad (I found the Bumbles I had quite absorbant, just not the right fit) but guess hemp/bamboo do hold more liquids in - just cotton absorbs faster perhaps?

4andnotout · 31/03/2009 21:26
