soon: I assumed 60 degrees was fine for the soy fabrics - I think most nappies are supposed to be able to survive that. That's what I washed them at anyway and didn't notice any problems. I had Benjamin wearing them today and they seemed much better after drying and being washed again, so just might try one for tonight!

TheNatty: What are you using to get dry nights? Still have the Bumhugger looking for a new home!

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 17:41

its old style isnt it rachel? i need the pocket im afraid.

we have one new bum hugger, only washed twice when i put it on her last night, with two thick hemp boosters and a bamboo insert in the pocket alongside all the hemp in the nappy already.

the outside of the nappy was only damp, so after an extra wash and dry today she is going in it with one thick hemp booster, a bamboo one, plus the hemp in the nappy. (in theory the nappy should be more absorbant on the third wash anyway)

she wasnt hugely comfy, but she was dry, so it took her a while to get off but then she slept all night.

well see how well we do tonight

Debs75 · 26/03/2009 18:44

soon2be we use the bamboo ones and i have started to notice that some of them do stay dry longer so they must of been washed more.
It isn't a leak as in a huge wet patch it is just damp aeround the leg cuff so her vest gets damp. I think it could be her thin thighs which are helping them leak but not too sure..

debs try giong up a size in vests. might be that they are too tight squeezing out some of the moisture when she sits?

Debs75 · 26/03/2009 18:53

Have tried that, can't go up any bigger, they will fall off her shoulders

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/03/2009 19:02

Yes I second natty on the vest sizes which is what we have just done!

And if you want to use cloth at night you might be better off with a proper night nappy. Maybe a bumhugger or WNNN or something if you are looking at second hand, or an Upsey daisy NN if you are looking for brand new - depending on how me and Rachel get on with our new ones!

Me, Natty and Rachel are all having night issues and trying out lots of different nappies on our very heavy wetters so we can let you know what works!

Have you looked into pockets at all? I think most people on here now use them at least some of the time. I like onesize things so I don't need different ones for each baby so pockets work well for me, but I don't have my second yet - she is due in the next few weeks so haven't tried them on a newborn. A few of the girls on here have got little ones though and get on very well with onesize pockets.

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 20:27

yes pockets are useful DEF at night, cos u can put masses of boosting in and it all stays put. problem i always had with MEOS was putting in an extra booster that didnt snap in would make doing it up tricky and it would move about.

i am def converted, tho i do still us my MEOS in emergancies, and still use a two part system at night as they are so thirsty. i can tell you know ellas house (new pocket style) are great for nights, cos they are huge and can be boosted right up.
ive got three more coming, tho according to the offical wesbsite it could be up to 28days before the XL come for my son, so he will be in his drynights pyjama pants boosted with a bamboo insert until then!
lucky ellens extra one is coming from ebay so will poss be here by the weekend.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 26/03/2009 20:57

TheNatty: Yes, it's old style I'm afraid.

Well, Benjamin has gone down in his UD NN tonight, after it seeming quite absorbant during use today (tumble dried it for ages so it would be ready again today! lol) But I still boosted it with a partial bamboo terry square and cotton flannel just in case! Can't have a soaked little boy again, so thought I'd put a bit of extra stuff in which I know will soak up, just till I know how it's going to work. So I'll have to report back again!

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/03/2009 22:32

Rachel - Hope it works! Will be looking for your report in the morning! Did you put the bamboo in the inside or outside of the UD?

My friend who was told she is having a girl has just found out its actually a boy! I am scared now! I dyed all my newborn nappies pink and purple!!!

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 23:00

lol soon that happened to my mum, was told she was having a boy and it turned out to be a girl.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/03/2009 11:18

soon: I put the bamboo & flannel inside the pocket (since there's plenty of space, not having the extra booster).

Well, he didn't have an overly wet night (again) but first thing this morning he was sitting on my bed and did a wee - and lo and behold, wet sleeping bag and wet bed! What's going wrong I wonder? Only half the nappy and extra bits that I put in were wet! The back half of the nappy was completely dry! Soooo, just wondering if it's very slow to absorb and Benjamin puts enough out in one go to be a fire hydrant?! LOL Confused! Seems I've done better buying secondhand nappies, as my first ever new purchases aren't going very well (my new nappy from Finland arrived today and the leg holes are too big for Benjamin's ever skinny thighs! argggg!)

So, I'll be very keen to hear how you get on! It might just be my little boy, as other people find these nappies/fabric wonderful!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/03/2009 11:20

Though I did wonder if adding too much bulk makes it harder for the wetness to go over the whole nappy??? I just don't know anything anymore! LOL Wish he could just potty train! But severe eczema means he's got to have secure clothes covering him up (to prevent the scratching & damage done to skin) so not sure how it will ever be possible to potty train him!

soon2befamilyof4 · 27/03/2009 11:41

So was the stuff you added on top of the french soy or under it? I assume you have a french soy insert that came with the nappy? The booster isn't much bulkier at all, just one extra layer poppped into the original insert.

I have washed mine this morning for the first time - didn't get round to doing any washing yesterday. I don't know if I should try it or not tonight. From reading about it on cloth nappy tree, I would just use it tonight. But reading what you have written - it sounds like I shouldn't!

Are you on CNT? Shall I ask on there about your problem? I think quite a few people on there use UD?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/03/2009 11:57

Yes, I'm on CNT too - might post in your thread!

Yes, I have the tri-fold soy insert that came with the nappy. I put the flannel on top of the soy insert and the bamboo under it. All three bits of inserts were wet, though all 3 of them had parts that were dry - which was confusing. Though I think it's quite possible that the flannel bunched up and wasn't in the right place when he did the wee this morning, so it probably went directly on the soy insert. Which is why I'm wondering if it's slow to absorb, and can't keep up with him!

cyteen · 27/03/2009 12:16

Calling treedelivery - did the Fuzzi Bunz get there okay?

I put DS in his Stacinator over a BBH the other night, he had the biggest bum ever He looked like a Tombliboo! No leaks though

soon2befamilyof4 · 27/03/2009 12:21

I have fluffypost!

I have a purple BBOS lovely and soft with insert which was £8 I think, A new babybeehinds - if it stays as soft as it is I can see me loving it! But I know our hard water spoils the softness most of the time. That was £7 and a Tots AIO which looks FAB! Going to prewash now and try them all out tomorrow..

TheNatty · 27/03/2009 12:29

very jealous of the fluffy post lol!
ive only got inserts coming this week, and ive been banned from buying nappies till end of the month, but then i plan on getting some furry ones, can i have a list of all the BTP furry nappies please? i always get confused

mumoftoby · 27/03/2009 12:30

ilmd thanks for the BBH is arrived and is fab!

soon2befamilyof4 · 27/03/2009 12:58

Natty - the onesize furry nappies I know of are BBOS and Minkytimes and lil stinkies. I haven't tried minkytimes yet but have 3 brand new lil stinkies on their way but have been delayed due to a fabric being out of stock.

I definatly prefer buying preloved nappies to brand new. None of all this prewashing lark! I like being able to open the parcel and use at the next nappy change! As long as they smell clean I don't bother doing anything to them! And I can buy twice as much as its half the price!

I am selling some nappy nation size 2s and large little rippers if anybody is interested?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/03/2009 16:23

What are the little rippers like? Very thick? or fleece lined?

swampster · 27/03/2009 18:17

Evening all. I had fluff waiting for me when I got home - a brand new Tots Bots Easyfit - It is a lovely manly lilac colour, can't wait to try it out. I think I need to do a nappy roll call and scare myself.

Rachel, how about sticking in a microfibre insert too? It absorbs quickly.

I love my Minkytimes - I don't use their inserts yet as they are mega and DS3 is so tiny still.

TheNatty · 27/03/2009 18:40

swampster i LOVE my easy fit, the material is really heavy wearing as well, they still look brand new and my BGs are begining to look worn already

got shoes in the post today, they were lovely some make called chipmunks brand new on ebay 8 quid! im very impressed

4andnotout · 27/03/2009 20:00

Evening all

Have just got home from holidays

ilovemydogandMrObama · 27/03/2009 20:08

4 welcome back to the fluffy thread

Think I need more diapers.

So, I called company x. They said I could get a discount as I had a flier. So, they did the calculations. I'd call back when I could find credit card (or rather DP's credit card)

I called back, and they said I should email. So, I emailed. The email address got a 'delivery failed'. I emailed the Managing Director. She emailed me back saying that she had passed it onto one of her colleagues. The colleague emailed to say she was out of the office until week after next

I can't even buy diapers!

Ridiculous....
