Argh I detest my laptop - just typed a reply to everyone and the stupid mousepad thing backbrowsed me so I lost it all ARGH!

anyway

Lacks - Look out for cheap Lollipop fleece pocket nappies - you see them around on ebay etc from time to time. They are quite good (£11new though ). I occassionally use one at night for DD with a pad folded bamboo square.

Annvan - What bamboo nappies are you using? They aren't all the same you see. DS soaked through a bamboozle in under an hour when he was a week old. He can wear a bamboo sandy for 3-4 hours at 19wks. The Sandy is a very absorbant nappy (the absorbancyfigure for the small is 12oz regardless of material). The sandy was designed by the woman who made the Motherease Onesize for her heavy wetting DC 'Sandy' hence the name. I like the organic cotton and the bamboo options (although the bamboo does take a while to dry - the organic cotton seems to be softer). Bumhuggers are good night nappies (fully fleece lined) for heavy wetters - you may need to boost with a microfibre cloth though (buy second hand or be prepared for much prewashing!). Alternatively try a pad folded bamboo terry inside a fleece pocket nappy if you can find a cheap one somewhere....

rusmum - check out the prices on ebay. Really not what you want to hear but the market is flooded with them atm. Tommee tippee stopped making them and people bought them up when they were being sold off very cheaply to clear now they are trying to sell them on ebay (more often than not at a profit for them) - they should have done their nappy homework first because, as you now know, they aren;t all that popular.

lollipop bamboo

bbm - you have mail....

BigBadMousey · 09/10/2008 15:22

ILMD - So I do! (although I don't think you were referring to the viagra, sex orgy ones - what kind of person do they think I am? Apparently I have problems pleasing my women - note plural- in bed )

Did you get my note about the toddlerease? I found two non organic cheap if you wanted them.

Will reply tonight as my raptor has just dettached himself - yay, now I can hang the washing out

This has nothing to do with nappies whatsoever but thought I might ask anyway.

Elizabeth has come out in loads of pimples on her face, she's 24 days old. I have been washing her face after every feed as she tends to get milk all over her face. I have to hold my hands up and say that I've been wiping with a wet wipe. Do you think I could've made her skin bad?? I've been using them on her bottom as well but she hasn't had any sort of reaction there. For the last couple of days i've been using cotton wool and water instead but her skin is still bad. Any ideas??

ilovemydog · 09/10/2008 17:56

It's baby acne....

It's the shot of hormones they get right before leaving the mother ship!

You've done nothing wrong....

lollipopmother · 09/10/2008 18:22

Ilovemydog Oh God, I hope it's that! Is there something I should be putting on her face to make them go, or will they just go of their own accord?

ilovemydog · 09/10/2008 18:25

I wouldn't put anything on it

(confession: I didn put a bit of breastmilk on DD's acne, and seemed to help )

wastingmyeducation · 09/10/2008 18:40

Yeah, don't wash her face after every feed, the milk will help the spots!

xx

Ceolas · 09/10/2008 19:02

2 of mine had those spots. They're called milia and very common. They can last a while although they're nothing to worry about

sunflower78 · 09/10/2008 19:14

lollipop - Maia's covered in spots too... it started aout a wk ago, and gradually spread, though the first ones are getting a bit better - DS on only had a couple, so was a bit shocked at the amount she has...

Ceolas · 09/10/2008 19:35

Just remembered, DD3 had them on her chest too...

BigBadMousey · 09/10/2008 20:17

lollipop all of my DCs have had that mummy hormone induced baby acne too - it lasts about 2 weeks I think - usually all gone by 6-8 weeks. BUT if you're worried get it checked out.

4andnotout · 09/10/2008 20:26

Hi everyone, my flexitots and new wraps arrived today and have already been washed and are hanging on the airer ready to go out if it's sunny tommmorow. We were at my parents this evening so dd3 has gone to bed in a bumgenius v2 and a wrap over the top so fingers crossed we dont get any leaks. I just knew she would fall asleep on the way home so wanted to put her straight up to bed when we got in.

rusmum · 09/10/2008 21:19

can i dye any nappy?? will it not affect absorption?

Ceolas · 09/10/2008 21:54

Essie can I ask when you bought the ebay pop-ins, how long did it take for delivery? I want to order some but we're going away next week.

rusmum · 09/10/2008 22:13

BBM want to sell 2 bamboozles?? How much???

Essie3 · 09/10/2008 23:01

Ceolas well it took 5 days but only because the lady has moved house. Are you buying from the same person? Called "I'm moving" or something? If it is the BabiPur woman, give her a call, see if she'll sell through BabiPur, and get the discount with that code - was it F200? It's on the previous page.

rusmum · 09/10/2008 23:37

babyjj would you advise little ewes for pm?????

babyjjbaby · 10/10/2008 07:58

well the little ewes are luvly very absorbent but just to bulky for me

rusmum · 10/10/2008 08:20

baby have dyed tots and kushies PINK. They look good, i think!! LOL

Also managed to get a pre fold in there by accident, lol

rusmum · 10/10/2008 08:21

may get some ewes then as need a good night time nappy.

4andnotout · 10/10/2008 09:11

Im still waiting for some bamboo nappies from a bounty seller which i quite fancy dying, thats if you can dye bamboo and if they ever turn up

Ceolas · 10/10/2008 14:05

How's everyone coping with drying at the moment? It's tipping down here on a regular basis. Trying to dry nappies indoors and not tumble dry every time is driving me insane!

I have a crappy concertina airer and it seems to be up permanently. The kitchen isn't massive and we have no specific laundry area/room.

Trying to line dry is futile. Even when it stays dry it's so flipping cold that they come in still wet.

Am I destined to spend the winter tumble drying nappies? I'm sure that's what bumped my bills up last year
