I’ve done something really stupid

I’m sure everyone has done something really stupid before as a parent, but I think this has to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. My DS came skipping out of school yesterday telling me how he wanted to make some tickets for the show was doing with his friend at playtime.

He said it was going to be a pretend wrestling show (alarm bell did not ring at wrestling show) and him and his friend had done a script and they.
He had his first drama lesson the other day so I thought he must be wanting to put a show on. He started making some tickets after school yesterday but said he’d not made enough.
So I offered to help him and we made some tickets and printed them off to hand out. He said he wanted to call it the (name) & (name) fight show.

Why oh why did that not ring a bell in my head I’ll never know. So I have proceeded to print off “fight show” tickets for my 8yr old to take to school to hand out to his little friends because he couldn’t wait to do his “show”.

I get a call at 11am from the School safeguarding officer telling me we cannot promote violence in school and she has personally had to go round the whole school collecting the tickets back from the pupils.

Like I completely get it and I genuinely cannot believe that my stupid brain allowed me to send my son into school with tickets saying that. I feel like the worst mum ever 😩 I nearly started a royal rumble in my son’s playground. Anyway. Just thought I’d share my stupidity on this Friday afternoon. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. From the stupidest mum of the day x

these were the tickets if you really want a good laugh. Like what on gods earth was I thinking sending him in with them 🙈🙈

😂 you’re the best, OP!

You have created a funny and fond memory. Laminate one of those tickets, OP. You clearly have a lovely sense of humour and a little boy with a big imagination- great combination.

Love you OP!
Mine have had a few moments of note, one was when my 7 year old was asked to put a drink from the fridge into his lunch bag. School rang me after he opened a can of Stella in the dining hall.
Then there was the time that their father sent several packs of energy sweets to be shared out on a school coach trip to Austria. What was he thinking? 50 hyper kids.

Woah @PadstowGirl that's brilliant(ly mortifying)!!
What did school say??

Thats hilarious, aw you are a lovely mum!

GinandGingerBeer · 14/10/2024 10:19

That's hilarious 🤣
Imagine the staff room had a few laughs too.
It's the kinda thing that you'll colour up for in the middle of the night when it pops into your head for years to come.
I have a few of those myself!

pictoosh · 14/10/2024 10:23

This is brilliant and has really made me laugh. Very much the sort of gaff I would unknowingly make.
You meant well and had no malice. You are a lovely mum.

pictoosh · 14/10/2024 10:25

Yes to laminating a couple of the tickets as keepsakes. How funny.

Op that’s hilarious!!!

I think it’s quite a shame as there’s nothing wrong with a fair, well organised fight between two consenting parties 😂

Please keep and frame the email from the safeguarding officer. It’s so much better than the pathetic “please cut grapes in half” messages I usually get.

I wish you were my mum.

Yeah! I kept the (son's name) "had detention today at lunchtime for shouting "fuck off" across the classroom".
Hand written by head of year. He got a telling off from me but I had it on the fridge for 10 years. He had finished uni and moved in with his now dear wife by the time I took it down He had a further 3 fairly unblemished years at that school.

My brother was called into school to ask why when my nephew was asked to write 3 things beginning the letter V he wrote VODKA as one of them 🤣😋😉. Apparently it was my fault he knew the word at 6yrs old?!?! I was livid as I don't drink vodka usually wine only ha

DD doing her bronze Duke of Edinburgh. Cooking her skill. Drew my attention to the 'classic' easy recipes I had taught her.
Chicken & cheese in white wine sauce, smoked salmon in vodka, Nigella's risotto with white wine. Had to have a bit of a rethink!
