I’ve done something really stupid

I’m sure everyone has done something really stupid before as a parent, but I think this has to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. My DS came skipping out of school yesterday telling me how he wanted to make some tickets for the show was doing with his friend at playtime.

He said it was going to be a pretend wrestling show (alarm bell did not ring at wrestling show) and him and his friend had done a script and they.
He had his first drama lesson the other day so I thought he must be wanting to put a show on. He started making some tickets after school yesterday but said he’d not made enough.
So I offered to help him and we made some tickets and printed them off to hand out. He said he wanted to call it the (name) & (name) fight show.

Why oh why did that not ring a bell in my head I’ll never know. So I have proceeded to print off “fight show” tickets for my 8yr old to take to school to hand out to his little friends because he couldn’t wait to do his “show”.

I get a call at 11am from the School safeguarding officer telling me we cannot promote violence in school and she has personally had to go round the whole school collecting the tickets back from the pupils.

Like I completely get it and I genuinely cannot believe that my stupid brain allowed me to send my son into school with tickets saying that. I feel like the worst mum ever 😩 I nearly started a royal rumble in my son’s playground. Anyway. Just thought I’d share my stupidity on this Friday afternoon. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. From the stupidest mum of the day x

Awwww that's lovely you did that, he will remember you did it. And to be honest I'd have assumed it was to do with drama too.
Don't let it worry you.

MyUmberSeal · 04/10/2024 12:37

I mean silly (by modern day standards), but also,..a little bit funny too!!! Little
boys and their imaginations, are the coolest. Don’t fret about it, a brilliant story to share with your son when he is a grown up 🤣.

KindOf · 04/10/2024 12:38

I think that’s funny and kind of sweet. I wouldn’t give it another thought.

The royal rumble 🤣🤣🤣

hiddeneverythin · 04/10/2024 12:59

That's so funny!!! Have a wine and a chuckle to yourself 😂

ClementineSatsuma · 04/10/2024 13:03

I think you sound like the loveliest mum! I bet he was all excited last night. What a fab story for when he's older :D

Alifemoreordinary123 · 04/10/2024 13:20

🤣🤣 royal rumble - love this OP but sorry you got a call. Really sweet and supportive of you, albeit for a slightly dodgy cause. Don’t worry unduly about it.

whiskeyarmadillo · 04/10/2024 13:23

The teachers will all know you now!

Pashpash24 · 04/10/2024 13:27

thank you so much for all making me feel better about it. It’s been a long week and the brain wasn’t braining this morning 🙈 I’m absolutely dreading pick up time. I’m so embarrassed 🫠

A lot of this wrestling is about drama! It’s all scripted and a massive thing in America I can see how you thought it was a drama thing 😅 so sweet you’d take the time to help your little lad with his show, brains sometimes let us down, don’t beat yourself up 💐

anxioussister · 04/10/2024 13:41

Laughing so hard - can totally imagine myself doing this! Promise this will be a hilarious story in a weeks time when the initial sting has faded!

Alwaystired23 · 04/10/2024 13:43

That's so funny 😁. It was creative of him (and you). He was only having a bit of fun. Bless him.

Imicola · 04/10/2024 13:45

This is so cute, and it made me laugh! My DD (5) has been talking all week about how she is going to have a pretend wedding to a boy in her class - they are going to make invitations for it, and have the wedding at lunch time. It's hard not getting involved in the planning, even though it is (a) ridiculous and (b) pretty weird/inappropriate for a 5 year old to talk about getting married. I'd much rather she focus on something else, but she is very caught up in thinking about her pretend wedding.

Based on your experience, I will avoid helping with the invitations ;-)

Oh OP this has made me howl 😂 it's amazing! The teachers will have also likely had the best giggle of the term too.

My 7yr old would've had the best day ever if he'd been given one of the tickets.

Kbroughton · 04/10/2024 13:48

I'm so sorry but this made me laugh. Reminds me of the time my now 10 year old told her teacher we had been pole dancing the night before. She meant we had been dancing around the kitchen with mops. :D You'll live it down and when he is older you will have a laugh and it will go down in family folk law.

Pashpash24 · 04/10/2024 13:59

these were the tickets if you really want a good laugh. Like what on gods earth was I thinking sending him in with them 🙈🙈

I’ve done something really stupid

The tickets look awesome. You could always go ahead in the park after school?

teenmaw · 04/10/2024 14:02

Thanks op I needed a laugh 🤣🤣🤣 Seeing the actual tickets finished me off, I'm buckled 🤣🤣

Hoogieflip · 04/10/2024 14:03

My face is sore with laughing!

HotelCustody · 04/10/2024 14:04

🤣🤣

Kitkat1523 · 04/10/2024 14:05

Don’t worry OP ….the teachers will have thought it was hilarious….no harm was intended and your boy is 8 …so will remember how supportive his mum was helping him with his tickets……something to laugh about when he’s all grown up……keep a couple of those tickets for the memories 😁
ps…this doesn’t make you a ‘bad Mum’ ….I think you’re a great mum for supporting and encouraging him ……… no harm done and was never intended.

FoxtrotOscarKindaDay · 04/10/2024 14:06

Valuable teaching moment.... first rule of Fight Club. Second rule, don't make tickets for it 😂

Genuis they scripted their performance. Hope you've got a junior drama club he can join and foster his writing skills.

MissPeachyKeen · 04/10/2024 14:16

Oh dear, @Pashpash24 everyone knows you don't talk about fight club!

CC222 · 04/10/2024 14:18

Brilliant 🤣🤣

DiscoinFrisco · 04/10/2024 14:23

This has made me laugh. Id have laughed if s parent had done this. The tickets are so good. In many ways this is such a sweet parenting thing to do.

Surely the first rule of Fight Show is no one talks (or makes tickets )about Fight Show
