This conversation has clearly not gone the way she wanted at all!!

Are you sure about that? No one has asked her what her daughter likes or pm’d offers of gifts? I understand exactly what @cj’s is alluding to

Ide like this post deleted if possible , clearly not going anywhere good , I only wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or if they had closed down anywhere else as it seems that shops have closed further away from me first.

"your [sic] all making me feel like such a Bad mum for wanting the best for my child"
Maybe you being a bit calmer and being more positive rather than making an unnecessary drama would be better for your child?

Plus, remembering that many people posting here will have more serious problems than lack of a birthday cake or ingredients to make one.
If you simply want everybody to say "poor you" AIBU may not be the best place to post.

Hmm
ScarlettBlaize · 19/03/2020 20:56

Did you get all the PMs you wanted then, hun?

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 19/03/2020 21:03

It's a bit oer the top to say she will wake up with nothing, with plenty of other options to shop for presents around. Some stuff in your baskets may be gone, but you can replace them with others surely, no need to be dramatic :)

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 19/03/2020 21:05

Also, you still have a month to get things as well! So cheer up and have a look around, not every single shop will close down.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 19/03/2020 21:08

I guess more high street stores will close as staff illness affects them - like what happened in schools - sick teachers schools close sick retail staff shops close.

Can still order online

I will be doing lots of online shopping over coming weeks ( ssh don't tell dh)

Thanks for the reports on this thread.

Discussions like this often get heated but we'd like to remind you that Mumsnet is here to make parents' lives easier. While we encourage healthy and robust discussion, we hope that everyone can respect each other in their choices and express their views without resorting to personal attacks. We're sure you'd all agree that parents-to-be and new parents need all the support they can get. After all, parenting is hard enough without facing judgement and criticism for those choices.

And this is a difficult time for everybody - can we please have a bit of extra peace and love?
