Sorry, I am sure I am misunderstanding but are you saying that your next wage package is only half the amount you plan to spend on her present. Again, I do think I am misreading.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2020 18:48

Also, if part of the problem is not getting anything for the 21st - a 3yo won't know what the date is. She will never know if you defer her 'birthday' by a few days.

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:48

@purplecorkheart yes I don't get slot of money so I have to spend half one week half the next can't do it all in one

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:49

@ErrolTheDragon aw thankyou!!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2020 18:50

I would assume the OP means the part of her wage which isn't needed for essentials. Not the whole thing.

Nursetrixie · 19/03/2020 18:50

Sorry I’ve just read your earlier comments and see what you mean now

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:51

@Hiphopopotamus so what? Don't give her a birthday basically ? Give over , She's very smart she's had every other Christmas and other birthdays she knows that her and her brothers get presants for a birthday.

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:52

@ErrolTheDragon thank you , I didn't think someone would think ide spend my full money on a birthday at and not get food pay bills etc but clearly people don't think.

21st April? Things will be back in stock by then I am sure.

viques · 19/03/2020 18:52

BLuebell, you are clearly upset, it is an upsetting time. But I seriously doubt that your three year old is getting in a tizzy about her birthday.

You still have time to get hold of a few presents, wrap them up, make or buy a card, buy or make a cake, find some candles and give her a great day.

That is all a three year old really wants.Small children don't make comparisons, they get excited anyway. She will take her cues from you so be strong and give out positive vibes.

Make yourself a promise that' you will make it up to her later in the year and that her next birthday wil be extra special.

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:53

@m00rfarm I'm just scared of closer really most stores saying here closing until 27th

Nekoness · 19/03/2020 18:53

Honestly? You will most likely see retailers offering huge discounts online by then. Don’t panic.

bloodywhitecat · 19/03/2020 18:54

She's going to be three, she won't overly care about presents and in years to come she will barely remember her third birthday. I reckon you'll be able to find her a couple of presents between now and her birthday, you will be able to make her day special even through this crisis.

purplecorkheart · 19/03/2020 18:54

Honestly, with all that is going on do not spend that amount of money on gifts for a three year. Not many jobs will be secure with the current situation. Put some of that money aside for a rainy day. No matter what you buy her she is going to outgrown very fast, honestly you do not need to spend half your wages twice. Get her a few books/colouring books etc. Make buns with her and let her decorate them, sing songs &dance. A three year old does not put a value on procession. She will have as much fun with a toy from an discount store as the most expensive one from Smyths.

m00rfarm · 19/03/2020 18:55

But they are not closing to on line - they are closing to shopping customers (or at least most of them are). THere will be loads of places able to deliver things to you. Out of all the things to panic about, this is definitely not one of them!!

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:55

@viques I know it's more upsetting because I had to cancel her party.. first party she's had and she was so excited , she's upset that I said it couldn't happen she's very smart she understands a lot I just hope I can get some stuff I haven't been out in 2 weeks and don't want to go out incase anyone has this virus but I'm going to have to arnt i😭

The works are still taking orders but warn of delays.

Nixen · 19/03/2020 18:57

.. just go on amazon? I really don’t understand the issue

DivGirl · 19/03/2020 18:57

OP - what did you get for your third birthday? Can you even remember it? I can't remember mine (or my fourth, or fifth).

You're over thinking this. Some balloons, some books, a toy from Amazon. She'll be fine.

Wineislifex · 19/03/2020 18:57

River island are still doing online orders so I’m sure other retailers will be, they have to try keep the economy going. Also supermarkets won’t shut so you’d be able to pick up toys from there as and when you have money available

It may seem a major issue to you, but in the grand scheme of thing it’s really not

Bluebell121 · 19/03/2020 18:59

@purplecorkheart I don't understand what you mean by " that amount of money" how much money do you think I'm spending ? I don't work I'm on sick atm , I could mean I'm using £50 one week and £50 the next for all anyone noes without jumping that I'm spending loads

OP posts:
thelittlefox · 19/03/2020 18:59

I've just had "An Important Message" from River Island (junk email) telling me their online till community is open for wasteful fast fashion spends support so whatever you saw on FB is bollocks.

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/03/2020 19:03

It’s my son’s birthday soon, I’ve also cancelled his party. I’ve ordered toys on amazon. They might take a bit longer than usual but deliveries are happening. Don’t go to the shops. Stay home.

WYP2018 · 19/03/2020 19:03

You’ll be fine. My dd is 3 on the 28th March and I’ve ordered toys from Smyths and Amazon today, no problem at all.
