Does anyone know a 'yummy-mummy'? Are you one?

I don't think I know any. I know some young mums who are pretty and slim (but not hugely conscious of it or flaunting it). I know some older mummies who are not really yummy (inc myself in that group!) but have all the gadgets (don't include myself in that group). Maybe it's my postcode...

But what exactly IS a yummy mummy and where do they come from?

I'M a yummy mummy

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 02/04/2007 17:24

Only joking

There are a few at my ds school that seem to be the type. Pretty, well off, sahm, nice clothes, happy, popular etc but they could be full of troubles/worries that they don't show.

I don't fit the bill. Not pretty or rich enough!!

MerryMarigold · 02/04/2007 17:27

oh, you have to be rich. that's why there aren't any round here I suppose! is it just film stars and the like? Or can you be (fairly) normal?

i think a yummy mummy is just a hot mum,

a MILF if you will

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 02/04/2007 17:38

I think it describes the whole 'perfect' package. Not just looks.

AnAngelWithin · 02/04/2007 17:40

i wouldn't like to be a 'yummy mummy' but i would like to actually be able to get out the house looking somwhat half decent instead of looking like ive just run a marathon and fallen into a hedge covered in baby sick!!

DimpledThighs · 02/04/2007 17:46

LOL AnAngel - would rather be friends with you than a yummy mummy any day!

pinkchampagne · 02/04/2007 17:53

I think of a yummymummy as one of those hands on mothers, who bake wonderful cakes with their children, stimulate them all the time, manage to always have lovely home cooked meals, immaculate homes & are just pretty damn perfect!
I am as far from a yummymummy as it gets!

HoraceWimp · 02/04/2007 17:53

I only ever see them in starbucks

actually I saw one today in bhs toilets with her two children.....it took her far long to take them both to the toilet than it took me to take mine and take myself

OrvilleRedenbacher · 02/04/2007 17:55

no not in bhs
sorry

MerryMarigold · 02/04/2007 19:33

are you sure it wasn't selfridges?

Know one but, I reckon she must be exhausted. Always has hair and make up perfectly in place, unflustered, beautiful children. And, of course, I'm not at all envious. I'm more of a slummy mummy

PeachesMcLean · 02/04/2007 19:38

I know one - a friend of mine who's got a good part time job, lovely husband, beautiful kids - that constant smug "got it all" kind of thing. And one of those sleeveless gillets I associate with YMs. Thankfully she's lovely rather than annoying (just to add to the yumminess.)

I'm certainly not one.

MerryMarigold · 02/04/2007 19:41

do they all live in west london? or surreh? or wiltshah?

Loads of yummy mummies in Chelsea/ South Ken/ Knightsbridge but of course they all have full time Nannies & Housekeepers!

seasonsreasons · 02/04/2007 21:14

I got chocolate custard on my arms when i was wiping ds mouth. Then I was a yummy mummy.

Harryjake · 02/04/2007 21:22

I know one who always looks immaculate, fashionable clothes, whips out the straightening irons in the changing rooms after taking her girls swimming (I'm lucky if I get my clothes on the right way round). She's got 3 DC. Where does she find the time??

chocolateface · 02/04/2007 21:24

Not many around here. Although I do see some at the gym I've never talked to them. Do you have to drive an X5 to be one?

TwirlyN · 02/04/2007 21:29

My Ds tells me i'm beautiful, my hair is nice, i am wearing nice clothes. We make cornflake cakes. I'm happy after a bottle of wine and the DC have gone to bed. MNers reply to my threads, and I always kiss my DP goodbye and tell him I love him every morning. Am I one?

MrsBadger · 02/04/2007 21:33

they are are the ones at the school gates who you think are better groomed than you.

that's all

macneil · 02/04/2007 23:05

No, I'm a fat f*ck and all my clothes are covered in vomit and I haven't plucked my moustache in months. I will be, though, as soon as the baby gets to that stage where she doesn't need looking after all the time. You know, that stage.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 02/04/2007 23:07

I'm one!! I have a "I'm a YummyMummy" tshirt which I wear to keep fit sometimes! (It's a clicSargent children's cancer charity one; my friend bought one for me and one for her.)

I'm not really yummy. My legs are hairy, my roots need doing and I need to lose a stone.
