Slightly trivial but do you put a clean babygro and vest on your baby each night...

even if they are clean ? My ds of 6 months has a bath each night. If he hasn't wee'd or worse I put him in them again the next night ....same with his day clothes (only change if he's spilt food or dribbled/sicked down them).....
Is this awful? No doubt as he starts crawling, eating more himself then I'll need to wash his day clothes more often.
My mum is obsessed with washing his clothes all the time.....
What do others think?

MAN ALIVE- I haven't read the whole thread but some of you are real clean freaks!
My two wear same vests and sleepsuit/pyjamas for at least 3-4days unless ds (22mths) has got too much weetabix on his pj's, then he has to have clean ones. They have a bath everynight and ds has clean clothes most days cos he usually gets smeared in chocolate, banana, juice, pens, tangerine, yogurt etc. DD (6mths) can usually wear same clothes again cos she hasn't started eating yet !

I only iron ds's shirts and a few of dd's dresses - no way would I EVER iron a grobag or muslin

They always have different day and night clothes as I heard it helps them to develop better day and night routines.

UniSarah - we've only got one grobag at the moment which is logistically challenging (couldn't manage without the tumble drier), but I've ordered two of the next size up. We got two 1 tog ones in summer and didn't seem worth getting two 2.5 tog ones when he's close to going up a size. I decided I'd rather have one or two proper Grobags than several cheaper ones that don't fit or wash as well.

I get my baby sleeping bags 2nd hand, less than half price of new, so could afford 2. It does make it easier with only line drying. 3 baby grows is mimimum I can manage with. vests we have several.

Blimey - we need about 8 baby grows as DS is sick so much!

Yes. Lovely and white and smelling of aerial.
Cherish it cos they aint gonna be like that much longer no matter how much washing you do!!

My DH takes care of 7 month old DD all day. From the very beginning, when she was 2 months old, I would come home from work and find her in her pajamas with mysteriously dirty hands. However, she is the happiest baby I've ever known. No colic, doesn't cry at night, laughs most of the time.
BTW, Daddy is an artist.

DS (11 months) has a new vest on after his shared bath with DD (4) who has a clean pair of pjs every 3 days unless they've got Ready brek on them. We tend to get through sleepsuits at a rate of one every couple of days for DS. Trying to keep the washing to a minimum since we've got our house on the market and viewings are a real pain w.r.t. laundry in particular.

Baby clean but house a shit tip!

clemsterdarcy · 02/02/2007 12:39

I change DD into clean babygro every night ... while whispering 'sleepytime' so she gets the message that it is time for bed. Part of routine of bath, change, feed, sleep.

Works a treat -- most night she is actually asleep on the walk from the nursing chair to the crib.

If she hasn't sicked in the night I tend to keep same babygro on under day clothes to save laundry. Ha ... she's such a aplatterer that she often needs several further changes through the day tho. One day she went through 5 white babygros in a row cos she was just taking the mickey .

Multi-coloured ..70s spiral patterns ... that's the secret ...!

My DSs (2 and 3.5) get bathed twice a week and wear the same clothes for 2 days (apart from underwear)and PJs for 3 days unless they are dirty. I also dont own an iron

My MIL is my neighbour and has one if I desperately need it which is not often.

Lysettes · 02/02/2007 17:28

we change grobags every other day though - he doesn't get a new one of those each night!

pookey · 02/02/2007 21:26

DS 17 mo
Grobag when dirty/smelly prob once a week.
Bed sheet 2-3 times a week at mo cos of bleeding eczema on his face.
Babygro usually clean each night but he eats porridge wearing his babygro or pyjamas - very messy.
Clean vest at night which he wears the next day.
His day clothes are not washed unless they look dirty.
He has a bath (in a baby bath) every day which I think helps keep nappy rash away and is good for his night time routine and his eczema moisturising routine.

But heres the I only change his nappy when he poos and before bed so he has on occasion only had two nappy changes in a day - bet that makes the ironers among you gag!
