Slightly trivial but do you put a clean babygro and vest on your baby each night...

even if they are clean ? My ds of 6 months has a bath each night. If he hasn't wee'd or worse I put him in them again the next night ....same with his day clothes (only change if he's spilt food or dribbled/sicked down them).....
Is this awful? No doubt as he starts crawling, eating more himself then I'll need to wash his day clothes more often.
My mum is obsessed with washing his clothes all the time.....
What do others think?

I change his clothes whenever they get sick/milk/poo on, so ends up being nearly a babygro a night, but don't just do it for the sake of it. I worry a bit about washing powder residues on his skin all the time etc..

DetentionGrrrl · 29/01/2007 11:15

DS has a fresh nappy, vest and grow every night before bed. He does spend half the day covered in food and dribble though

pucca · 29/01/2007 11:18

I always change ds, clean vest, baby grow every night, as i think as often as his nappy is changed they still pong a bit, and i dunno i just change him.

Infact i still put clean pj's on my 3 yr old dd every night too, just habit i guess...strange lol.

I do!

DD2 is a bum shuffler, so she gets dirty.

I know how good it feels to go to sleep w/clean jimjams and sheets, so why not my girls?

pucca · 29/01/2007 11:20

They also have clean clothes on every day, clean socks for bed (dd) infact i think i am a little obseessive too after reading this!

LadyTophamHatt · 29/01/2007 11:23

Good God!

NO!!!

sauce · 29/01/2007 11:23

I used to change the babygro after each bath (every 2 days as both babies had exzema & v. dry skin) & the vest every day. Would you believe I used to iron vests & babygrows? Talk about making a rod for your own back! But I loved to have them all nicely folded in the drawers...

sauce · 29/01/2007 11:25

But I remember changing the babygrows as often as 3 times a day once the babies grew and moved a bit more. That's when I stopped the ironing. It all became a bit much.

Flower3554 · 29/01/2007 11:32

Oh God I'm going to hell. I have day baygro's and night babygro's
Change vests everyday as well

expatinscotland · 29/01/2007 11:34

they wear sox in the house, so yes, a fresh pair every day.

dd1 goes and gets them out the door and puts them on, saying, 'i need fresh sockies.'

Mumpbump · 29/01/2007 11:40

Ds wears his vest/babygro's until they get dirty. They normally last a couple of nights, not often more than 3!!

Lullabyloo · 29/01/2007 11:53

absolutely
bathed in lavender bath
into clean vest and gro bag suit every night
smelling scrumptious

leahsmum · 29/01/2007 11:56

DEf need changed every night! Vests especially - I dont think that they hold the heat if they have had a vest on all day and wear it the same night. I know I wouldnt wear underwear all daya nd then wear it to bed that night. On the babygro thing - when dd was younger I wouldnt have dreamed of wearing a babygro 2 nights in a row (mayb i'm obsessive!) but now she is almost 3 I have been know on the very rare occasion to let her put same jammies on 2 nights in a row (but only if i cant be bothered arguing with her that her Dora/Peppa pig jammies are dirty - easier to just let her wear them again). Clothes - very occasionally I can manage to get 2 days out of trousers or cardi's/jumpers but never a t shirt (well would you wear a t-shirt for 2 days? I certainly wouldn't0

God - reading over this post I really am obsessive - need to think again as dc2 is due in few weeks and I really am going to spend all my time washing at this rate!!

sauce · 29/01/2007 12:23

Have to share this - I used to iron baby clothing to make sure it was sterilised! How obsessed is that?

SoupDragon · 29/01/2007 12:28

I can't believe the amount of washing you lot are doing unnecessarily!!

PinkTulips · 29/01/2007 12:30

ds and dd get clean pyjamas every second night after their bath... unless there was a pee or poo incident the night before.

when dd was younger she needed new ones every night though as she had reflux and her clothes were always covered in puke... lurvely!

Lullabyloo · 29/01/2007 12:30

doesn't everyone iron their baby's things?

Lullabyloo · 29/01/2007 12:32

clean grobag every day too....
and runs away before insults thrown at her

princessmel · 29/01/2007 12:35

No, I only change them when they are dirty. If they still look clean but have been on a few days then I'll change them.

I change dd out of her sleepsuit when she gets up so she doesn't get breakfast on it . So really she's only lying in a clean bed in it, not walking around on the floor etc.

My washing is out of control as it is without making any more. And I don't think my machine is going to work for much longer. It makes a terrible clunky noise on spins.

princessmel · 29/01/2007 12:37

I don't iron anything

Unless its for a wedding or something and looks AWFUL. Usually it smooths out after its been on a while. I dry it on airers so its not too bad.

sauce · 29/01/2007 12:50

The amount of washing I do is really quite scary. I worry about the energy (not mine!)it takes to wash, dry and then iron... Apart from the ecological aspect, we had a massive electricity bill last month.

Ceebee74 · 29/01/2007 13:25

Lullabyloo - I feel less obsessive reading your posts - at least I only change DS's grobag/bed sheet once a week!!

As for ironing, never ironed any of DS clothes yet!!

Plus, to make me sound better, I rarely change DS into a new outfit during the day if he pukes on it (which happens regularly) unless it is a vast amount of puke! However at nursery they seem to change him at the slightest puke - therefore they are tripling my washing!!!

leahsmum · 30/01/2007 15:44

Cant believe so many of you dont even iron your childrens clothes. I iron all dd's clothes always. mind you my mum is worse than that - she irons dd's vests, socks and pj's when she stays over at theirs. She even ironed all her bibs when she was a baby and I'm sure she'l prob do the same when new Lo arrives in the next couple of weeks.
She used to get me to send all dd's ironing round when she was younger cos she didnt want me taking her out wiht bibs/socks/vests/sheets etc unironed - how obsessive is that!!

fifiandtheflowertots · 30/01/2007 17:21

Another one who doesnt iron ds's clothes unless i really have to
He gets a clean vest every day but if his sleepsuits are still clean they go back on but for no more than 2 or 3 nights

ProfYaffle · 30/01/2007 17:28

Dd stays in the same pj's til she spills breakfast on them, then she gets clean ones. Day clothes are never clean by the end of the day so have to be washed. I never used to iron her clothes when she was a baby either, well, except a top with a sticky up coller that needed to be flattened down. That must be why she only wore it twice!
