My DS id 14 weeks and sleeping so well that I am thinking about putting him to sleep in his own room. DH thinks its too soon.
Didn't put his sister in her own room till 8 months but she was still wanting fed very early in the morning.
What did/would you do?

He was about 6 weeks. My husband insisted and I was heartbroken. But we all got a much better sleep and felt much better in the morning. As long as you have a baby monitor that you trust, you won't look back. Good luck....[smil]

ds was 10 months - would have been sooner but we had to wait whilst repairing the ceiling in his room.
dd was 6 months old.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 12/08/2006 16:23

Jess was 8 weeks and Becky was 10 days old - both of mine mutter in their sleep so although they were out cold - we were awake! It was easier ot have the baby monitor on!

4 months

sweetkitty · 12/08/2006 16:32

DD1 - 15 months (would have been 12 months but was delayed due to house moving upheavel)

DD2 - still with us at 6 1/2 months, don't plan to kick her out until she's 12 months.

Question to all those who put their babies in their own rooms from day 1, how do you manage nightfeeds, do you get up and feed them in their own room. Just wondering as DD2 is in a bedside cot and ends up in with us for feeds, she still feeds 1-2 times in the night and it's so easy to get her across and get her on a boob?

sfxmum · 12/08/2006 16:36

am clearly a freak dd 14.5m still in our bedroom no plans to move her to her own room

FrannyandZooey · 12/08/2006 18:19

Sfxmum I avoided answering the question earlier - ds slept in our bed till he was 3

Surfermum · 12/08/2006 18:56

DD moved into her own room at around 10 weeks when she grew out of her moses basket and we didn't have room for a cot in our room.

Sweetkitty I used to feed her in her own room. I found it easier to do it there as it didn't disturb dh and I could put a sidelight on and read a magazine while I was doing it.

littlerach · 12/08/2006 18:58

DD1 was about 4 monhs old.

DD2 was 8 months. We tried when she was about 6 months, but she screamed all night (or so it seemed) for 3 nights, so se vame vacbh in with us.

compo · 12/08/2006 19:01

From birth here as well - as soon as we got out of hospital. We didn't have room in our room for a moses basket and we could hear ds cry straightaway (well one of us could!!).
This time round new baby will be in a room with a single bed so I will sleep in there at the beginning and see how it goes. Dh will get double bed to himself

QueenEagle · 12/08/2006 19:05

dd was 5 weeks.

ds1 about the same.

ds2 about 9 months but that was due to lack of space.

ds3 was about 3 weeks.

ds4 was a couple of months old when I was sure he would sleep and not disturb ds3.

dc6 will have to sleep in the shed I reckon!

drosophila · 12/08/2006 19:09

DS was 2.5 years. DD is 18mths old. DS cos we lived in 1 bed flat. Not sure why DD is still sleeping in our room.

newmum10 · 12/08/2006 19:23

Poppy was 9 weeks - she had started sleeping through and we got a decent monitor - she was fine. You need to do what you're comfortable with.

Medulla · 12/08/2006 19:31

DD - 4 days old DS - about 6 weeks old

DollyP · 12/08/2006 20:40

12 months - meant to do it around 6 months earlier but didn't get round to it for various reasons. Next one will be out earlier!

goshme · 12/08/2006 21:09

DD1 10 weeks, dd2 6 months & dd3 5 months, no special reasons, just seemed right at the time!!

CarlyP · 12/08/2006 21:10

Xena · 12/08/2006 21:11

fatfox · 12/08/2006 21:12

Errrrm, DS was 3 when he moved out. DD has just turned 3 and will be evicted by Christmas, as we have another due in March. We just want an easy life....

sweetkitty · 12/08/2006 21:20

I am honestly really shocked by how young some babies went into their own rooms I'm not meaning that to get at anyone, it's just that when DD1 came home from the hospital I was far too scared not to have her right next to me, I never planned on cosleeping but it just felt right. I used to wake loads of times in the night to just check on her to see if she was breathing. Even with DD2 I slept with a small light on for the first 4 months so if I woke I could check she was alright.

With DD2 I don't think I even wake up half the time when she is feeding she latches on and I fall back asleep. I still think she is to little to be in a big scary room on her own, maybe I worry too much I don't know.

sfxmum · 12/08/2006 21:46

sweetkitty i am the same would not sleep at all if she were in another room did co sleep and now bedside cot, we kinda like family room anyway

guess whatever suits you

tegan · 12/08/2006 22:05

My dd was in our room in a moses basket for 12 weeks, then in a crib in our room til 20 weeks. Moved into her cotbed at that time as DH wanted to have her settled before she started going to the CM when I went back to work - one adjustment at a time he said!
Worked well TBH. I wake whenever she needs me - DH sleeps through it all!!
