sorry franca, DD woke up, she was thirsty and then DP brought her downstairs, then DS cried as he was too excited to sleep (he's better sleep tomorrow night as I have to finish wrapping the presents!) so the 3 of us and "lattesquick", dd had just milk, and biscuits on the sofa bed, whilst watching jacko in concert... 2nd night this happens, 2 more night to xmas, are we ever going to sleep , what's it going to be when even dd understands and is excited cos of babbo natale !!??

Today mine seem more laid back than yesterday, ds went to play at his friend's house (and cleaned every car from the snow on the way, it took us ages to get there) and dd's little friend is coming in a bit. They are now watching charlie brown.
Still need to sort out present for my db, and buy leeks for the sformato di porri I'll make for christmas lunch.

Well, we made it to Wales, eventually, having been diverted to Birmingham and bussed back to Bristol. My poor Dad had to wait all night in his car at the airport, we finally arrived about 5 then got to my parents at 7am, we had to walk through the snow the last few hundred metres as the car couldn-t make it.

Anyway the DCs were absolutely brilliant, no moaning or tantrumming, funny how they come good when you really need them to! Didn-t get any sleep so been recovering up til now really.

It is now snowing again really hard, huge flakes, which would be ok except my sister is supposed to be travelling up tonight....

Glad Rosa made it too.

the snow is melting here, just had a bit of rain too... can't believe i'm still being asked questions about work, the office was empty enough yesterday anyway and doubt there'll be anyone in tomorrow (am one of the few in during this period but not in tom, busy getting turkey/lasagne/bread and butter pud ready!! on top of the normal washing and cleaning and getting the kitchen in a decent and possibly festive state!! HELP
to top it all, i'm considering taking evil antib that made me sick, just 2 doses to see if my throat gets a bit better and gets me through to xmas...

Pippi how are you feeling? if you still have pins and needles you ought to get it checked although am sure is something and nothing. DS not impressed by snow or cold. Moans when we go out, if we come out of a shop and I havent put his gloves on he screams for them because it's cold. Wimpy Italian , when are his northern genes going to show!

just seen in the news that the electric heaters that were provided to the gas-less houses have now caused a surge in the board so no electricity!

gio, I've just looked at it as you mentioned it... there's no good in talking to someone who thinks they're suddenly expertson italian legal system, and obviously know more than judge/jury present at the trials... such hypocrits too with all the faces as really, their life hasn't changed one bit, soon there'll be something else (sorry, feeling ranty as DD's just tantruming as I won't give her a whole corn cake as now she doesn't doo half-things , and has thrown ALL HER FOOD on the floor - having suddenly gone from eating anything that's edible (or not in some cases) to just wanting biscuits and cake - can't say she's tired as she had over 4 hrs sleep this pm, so only got her up just after 5!!)

and DS's keeps on pointing out that DD's crying - thanks DS, hadn't noticed, even though she can be heard in the west end!!

And poor you camo. They do go through a stage of being a bit picky, don't they? But 4 hrs of sleep is actually quite a record

yes, a real miracle, as she hardly has 1/2 hr naps normally, just tried to see what she'd do if she missed the am nap as I had loads to do today (washing to fold, washing to dry, washing to wash) but I had suddenly a lot coming through work wise, so done nothing. and there was me thinking that I had it all nicely planned this year... soooooo much to do tomorrow!!! meant to cut ds' hair too... aaaaaaaaaargh, now is ds's turn to make me mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spoke to Pinco this am and she was in good mood, but with no electricity....have texted her...

And she got back, they still have electricity.

Thanks for your concerns but no we are fine here thank god!! If we get to that stage we will be checking into a hotel till they've repaired it, no way one can survive without any form of heating I am afraid. Even the Ingalls had some and, as DH said, they at least had bear skins and such likes. hmm that reminds me of my grandma furcoat hid somewhere... maybe it should be fished out.

Gio bigpippi hated the snow the first year she saw it, aged 1.5. minipippi loved it!

Hi. Apologies for butting in, I thought I'd ask on here if anyone knows of something very good to do with DCs in Rome next week. They are 10, 4 and 2. We have the travel books etc, but thought I'd ask of any special "insider" knowledge of what's good to do there now (27 Dec-1 Jan). Thanks.

Hi Christina, you need Gio71 and Sputnik who both live in Rome. They are on holiday in the UK at the moment, and aren't posting as often as usual.

The first time I visited Rome I was 9 and I loved the Colosseum, the foro imperiale and everything roman, really (more than the churches etc, which appeal more to adults, imho).
