Ah, it's snowing seriously here now.

Bucharest · 05/02/2010 14:19

At least the Germans have hair. Even if it's unstylish, it's there.
Not like the poor old baldy brits walking round with their burnt noggins.

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 14:27

mmmm do you find the Brits are balder than continental men? I've never noticed that
I've got lots of bald friends here in Italy..... mmmmmmm

Bucharest · 05/02/2010 15:34

Yes, but I bet they've got hairy chests!
Dp was first hairy chest I ever saw. Almost shrieked in shock at furry thing rubbing against me.
I think it's the fat, bald, football Tshirt thing about British men, god love em.

Sputnik · 05/02/2010 15:49

Never considered that re baldness but I think you may have a point based on my very representative sample of my Dad, balding as long as I can remember, and my FIL who still had a fine head of hair at 73.

Although come to think of it I have an Italian friend virtually bald since his 20s. He took the very sensible aproach of shaving the lot, I quite like that actually.

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 15:55

Yes, most of my balding friends have been shaving for yrs.
I am told that many Italian "gggiovani" now wax their chest. I don't think I like the fact that these young generations are so into their looks.

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 15:56

Ds is obsessing with the snow. "secondo te quanti gradi ci sono?" "secondo me zero gradi" "ti chiedo una cosa e tu non mi rispondi" "papi, la nostra macchina sara' tutta bianca" etc etc etc etc.... heeeeeeeelp

Camomilla · 05/02/2010 16:08

forgot the white socks & sandals combo (germans)

soooooooooooooo need a holiday, we were thinking self catering village, but not in italy so wouldn't have guilt feeling/chance of going to my area... but, yet again, another wedding to go to that spoils our plans

Buch, I remember my nonna saying that when they had babies they had to stay in bed with baby for 40 days whilst all the family took care of the rest - but then they all lived together in big colonial houses...

Camomilla · 05/02/2010 16:11

franca

DB waxes his chest, but then he's bald too, poor thing starting losing it big time by the time he was 20.... I actually dont mind that too much, but it's the young men's expectations that women must be bald there too that I find a bit

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 16:20

Do they really expect that Camo? ... oh dear...

Where is your wedding?

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/02/2010 16:27

I am endlessly fascinated by the socio-antropology of hair removal... and yes i too have heard you are supposed to be completely hair free these days. To which i can only say, thank god i have already shacked up with DH [brrr]

As an aside, should we petition for our own micro site here???

Camomilla · 05/02/2010 16:28

apparently that's why the big rise in brazilian waxes...

venue not booked yet, BF going soon to check options. will try and see if we can do DD's christening following day, which will also be her 2nd b-day...

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 16:34

Thank goodness I belong to a different generation then . Our boyfriends were so grateful to have some sex that they wouldn't have dared comment on our hairiness.

MM are you going all political on mn ? I'm backing you btw

Bucharest · 05/02/2010 16:40

Bald where????? there??????? Us?????
Fvck that.
Just about manage to do bikini line in summer.

Have many "aesthetician" friends here (seems to be default job for thick girls who would once have been "sarta" ) and am just too embarassed about getting fanjo out to a friend for a going over.....

Also have far too many hairs on chin.

Camomilla · 05/02/2010 16:50

buch, my DSis has everything off (she's part of the young bald generation) and always goes to her ex's mum salon (she gets free tratments), think I'd rather have friend than MIL doing it!!

TheMysticMasseuse · 05/02/2010 16:50

have just posted on a foreign languages thread in AIBU saying that i really don't see the point of teaching french to 8 year olds when they can't spell to save their lives. Am awaiting the obligatory flaming...

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 16:51

I've just emailed you mm

Camomilla · 05/02/2010 16:53

wow, 5pm and still light!!

Francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2010 16:59

Camo lol at your friend going to her ex's mum for waxing

Yes, days are getting longer... hurrah!

BananaGio · 05/02/2010 19:14

at hairless expectations. I can hardly be arsed to shave my legs!

tommycarcetti · 05/02/2010 19:41

www.lavecchiatorre.it/attivita.php

Gallipoli is meant to be great. I personally llike villaggi who also have spaces for campers and tents, you always end up meeting nice german families, and also italian who care about nature, just a thought. There are mmeant to be some parts of puglia that are very windy, great for surfing, but not for the kids.

Now let me check the N. Walters webchat..

BananaGio · 05/02/2010 19:51

All the beaches around Lecce are stunning Pippi. I spent a year down there and its wonderful. Gallipoli lovely, so many places though. Loads of villagi down there as well if you want the entertainment.

tommycarcetti · 05/02/2010 20:17

The entertainment normally starts when the Italian kids start their summer holiday.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 06/02/2010 09:35

yes the good entartainment does start then but in june they warm up and try things. yes they are useless but the dds won't know that and for the grown up the useless the better. Like I said the thought of them coming to bother me with "vieni a ballare la conga" while readingfeels me with dread.

thanks for all your suggestions, will look them all up.

tcarcetti yes the idea of place with camping on site is very good. will look at that too.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 06/02/2010 09:37

same here about laziness in shaving.

bikini wax done regularly once a year before aforementioned holiday. rest of the year is a bit riccio di mare look!
