Thank you Bucharest

Rosa, I know my friend gave her dds oscillococcinum in sept/october, she swears by it...

Mcnulty, what do you mean???

Bucharest · 29/01/2010 16:08

That code can be used more than once as well!

Francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2010 16:10

Sputnik · 29/01/2010 17:15

If you like stripey you should also check out here, some of the stuff is reuced too. I have some and quality is comparable to Boden.

Francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2010 17:25

ooooh super lovely!

Rosa · 30/01/2010 08:58

I can confirm that as well SPutnik gave me the link - I think it was possibly for a dress I can't remember I ordered some ls t shirts for dd 1 and they have held shape well- she has this horrible habbit of pulling sleeves up but sort of outwards as well..Mothercare ones are already dusters as they don't go back to shape.
We had snow last night !!!!!!!

Morning all, can I have some sympathy please? Have just had huuuuuuuuge row at school and have been in tears since 9.....

Long story short. Scuola elementare, bell rings at 8.10. We are always there for 8.10 and go in (along with 100s of other parents) Every class collects in its own little area and waits for the teacher who takes them to the classroom when the second bell rings. Dd's teacher always last to arrive. I (along with a nonno) are two parents/guardians who always wait until the maestra arrives.

This morning, (there must have been about 80 other parents still in the school) a bidella comes over to me (passing the nonno on the way) and says "Prego!" I say "eh?" "Prego, signora!" I think she has me confused with someone who is waiting to ask something, so I say "No, io non ho chiesto nulla, io sto aspettando che venga la maestra". She goes over to this hard looking teacher who seems to be a vice-preside or something and speaks to her, she is sent back to me. (passing 20 or so other loitering parents on the way) "lei si deve andare adesso". "WTF????" "Lei non puo' stare, deve andare, lascia la bambina e andare". I say "Oh, sta cacciando tutti o solo me?" (t'is clear it's just me, as she hasn't spoken to anyone else) She scuttles off again, back to hard woman, and comes back again. "Signora, non e' permesso rimanere, deve andare". I ignore her and wait (with the nonno, who has heard all of this and rolls his eyes sympathetically) and the maestra arrives. I go out, meet dp, burst into tears at humiliation and injustice and we go back in to cause a scene enquire why just me, of all the literally 100s of people in the entrance hall was picked on.
The bidella says she was telling everyone (liar) the hard teacher says I was trying to go upstairs to dd's classroom (molto verboten) I say I was bloody not (still weeping and wailing like a loon) (must be PMT) and bidella confirms that I wasnt. Everyone apologises (although damage is done and I now feel I can't set foot in there as they will have me down as madwoman) hardwoman says I must be very fragile to take on so. (fuck her) and I just keep weeping now!!!!! (dp v sympathetic at first but is now also losing patience with me and says I need to get a grip) The fvcking injustice is that it's really the teacher's fault for always arriving so late. Often we are the last class to have a teacher arrive, and a few parents will say to me "oh, you're staying, can you keep an eye on so-and-so for me".

Pah.

Rosa · 30/01/2010 12:41

Oh Buch how terrible - Well done you for standing your ground.
I would go to the preside and say if the teacher arrived early then I would bugger off quicker. I like all the other 'sensible' parents want to ensure my daughter is safely in the hands of her teacher .
If its any consolation I would have done exactly the same and created a mega scene and totally embarassed dd , dh and anybody else that knows me I would then eat a ton of chocolate.
If I was a clicky MN person I would send you huge hugs and xxxxxxxxxx I send you forza corragio and bugger the lot of them for being so down right annoying. ( You can have your pick of which one you want !)

Lol- thanks Rosa, have calmed down now, although have had to take contact lenses out as eyes are burning too much! I think I'll have the hugs, kisses and the chocolate!

Have taken it out on Amazon marketplace seller whose fecking fairy costume still hasn't arrived

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/01/2010 14:34

Oh Buch I sympathise. I would have felt and reacted the same. And understand the crying buckets bit - I feel the same today (prob PMS as well)!

Forza e craggio all the same!!!

LOL at taking it out on Amazon seller - I do that all the time.

(I want to strangle DH today if anybody is interested!)

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2010 14:53

Oooooh Bucharest. How are you feeling now?

Camomilla · 30/01/2010 14:59

Hello everyone!!! just skimmed over the last few pages... haven't seen SG, so guess babySG has arrived?

Buch, so sorry, good for you to go back though, I'd probably gone home and complained here!

haven't been around, would have been rude with mum here plus really haven't had time... curtains all done and we even managed to have a night out with friends without children after 18 months!!! always feeling weird after she left, glad to have the house back without all the criticisms, but missing her cooking and company... anyway, my turn to complain about the school, asked for tuesday (for London trip) and thursday (take mum to airport), explained all on the form and got turned down! I mean, surely a trip to the museum and time spent with his nonna who he adores and doesn't see often (poor ds, he was crying already a week before she went because she was going...) in Y1 is actually quite valuable, especially with the hard time he's been having! needless to say I ignored them and took him out anyway. got home on Tuesday night (really enjoyed the transport museum, pity it was soooooooooo cold and so came back home early) to find a msg from the school asking why ds wasn't in!! ah, well, BF getting married at beginning of sept in italy, so that'll be another battle I guess...

dd didn't have her sf jab in the end as she wasn't well and so changed our minds.

scary stuff all this chemical talk, don't have many cosmetics, though I should. I always wash DC's bums, but after using wipes. but after this, I'll start using the reusable wipes I bought ages ago and kind of forgot to use them, stupidly as they work better....

really impressed by the fitness regimes! been trying to go to zumba classes for the last 10 months, but i'm too lazy and no time... right, il caffe' e' venuto su'.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2010 15:07

Camo ciaoooooooo! Glad to hear you had a lovely time with your mum (and I used to feel the same when she visited us in the UK ).

Gosh what a pita your school is ! I can't believe they make such a big deal about missing a day or 2.

Buch, I've been thinking. I'm shocked that the other parents didn't stick up for you. E che cavolo???

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2010 15:09

Me and dd have just made a cake, which looked very promising on the recipe book, but we might have screwed it up as I didn't have enough white sugar, so added some demerara and it's now sickly sweet

Camomilla · 30/01/2010 15:21

i thought so, as they are so similar . btw, wanna come to get some storage boxes etc from ikea? finally got my hensvik chest, so need storage thingys to sort my undies in (at the moment thrown in a bag as dd keeps on opening the drawers we have atm and putting pairs of (my) knickers around her neck and feet at every opportunity!!) so, shall I go to ikea now (dp working so won't get discount) or wait til monday... might even get a blue frying pan as ours is soo scratched now, the rest we have are a set of circulon pans, so they're safe I think?

yes, very disappointed by the headteacher... ds's teacher said it didn't matter though, so happy with that

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/01/2010 15:22

Buch, a big hug to you. How awful. Don't feel embarrassed for having cried, they should feel embarrassed for being awful and stupid. Cammina a testa alta my dear, because you were right and they were not and they know it.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2010 15:29

I'd love a trip to ikea actually... no way I'd brave it on a saturday though, I'd wait for monday ...

Masseuse, I'm still coming to terms with season 3's finale...

BananaGio · 30/01/2010 18:29

Buch what a bunch of twats!!! If the teacher was there on bloody time there wouldn't be an issue!! Idiots. You were totally right. I always wait as well with DS if the maestra isn't there. Am the only one who does. Amazes me that it is seen to be totally acceptable to leave 3 and 4 year olds in a classroom by themselves with no supervision because the adult is unable to get to work on time.
Glad you had a nice time with your Mum Camo. WOnder when SG will pop back to update. Pippi why do you want to kill DH and also-did you ask me to tell you about Follonica about 10 pages ago which I rudely didn't do? Do you still want info?

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/01/2010 18:54

yes on the info please Gio and not sure why I want to kill him. Possibly because he is unable to tell me what his plans are for the weekend and therefore I am unable to plan accordingly. But more realistically, as he never does anything that doesn't involve us - except sleep on the sofa for half an hour - I think I am pms and hangover and tired because dd2 woke up loads in the night and so whatever he does today its not good . You know when you know you should but you just cannot shift your mood? oh well and we are going out tonight....

ps took dd1 to first riding lessons, she asked and place is close to us, and she loved it. she wants to go every weekend . Don't think finances are going to stretch that far...

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/01/2010 18:54

it's not good, sorry

SuiGeneris · 30/01/2010 20:06

Hi everyone. As you have probably guessed from the long absence, babySG, a boy, was finally delivered last Sunday, weighing in at just under 3.5 kgs. We are absolutely delighted with him but life over the past week has been less than straightforward- breastfeeding is a particular challenge: toe-curlingly painful is the best description at the moment, despite two sessions with a breastfeeding specialist, pumping, etc. But it is worth it.

I cannot catch up with the thread or stay longer (sitting time strictly limited) but hope all is well and look forward to catching up once things are a bit easier at this end.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2010 22:09

Oh SG how utterly fabolous!!! Congratulations on the birth of master SG .
I hope breast feeding gets better for you, and do post if you need support .
So delighted for you

BananaGio, I can't believe teachers aren't on time at scuola materna ... Also, isn't the drop up time from 8 to 9 like here? I'm stunned... teacher is always there and already drawing or reading to the kids... boh!

BananaGio · 31/01/2010 08:45

hurrah SG congratulations!!!!!!How lovely. Second what Franca says, post for support if things are tough.
Pippi- Follonica- don't know if you know it at all so apologies if am telling you what you already know. We liked it so much as it is so family orientated. Plus is one of the few beaches I have been to here which actually stick to the one private beach, 1 spiaggia libera pattern instead of all but the scummiest areas being private. So we used the spiaggia libera which mean every pm we decamped with our loungers to the Pineta for our crodini and scopa games . There are swings etc in the pineta for kids plus some entertainment for kids in the evening for all ages- mini golf, racing cars, arcade and a very small luna park. There was a sit on Thomas ride which DS literally spent every evening on. The owners of the apartment we go to only rent out in August though which we have booked. I noticed when we were there that there were so many apartments with holiday let signs on, much more than i found online so I reckon approaching the estate agents would be worth a shot. There is a stretch of free beach by the pineta which has a row of houses literally on the beach. No chance of getting them in August but if you were thinking about at a different time they would be so lovely!!We walked back from the town at night along the beach and all the people from the beach houses were sitting on the beach eating, kids playing etc at 11 at night, was lovely! Only down point was the free beach wasn't cleaned that frequently so by end of August it was a case of dodge the fag butts! It seemed a very local resort. Not many non-Tuscan accents about and think I was the only straniera I noticed! Which means prices were very reasonable for Tuscan mare. What else-sea was lovely and clean apart from the few days around ferragosto when it got a bit scummy due to volume of people.
Right after that essay am off to get sorted. Taking DS out to parade around in his Zorro hat with sword today if rain holds off! He keeps threatening to open the coriandoli in the house so better give him opportunity to let off steam!

BananaGio · 31/01/2010 08:46

oh the only other thing Pippi is the sea is so shallow- it stays really really shallow for a long way out so perfect for DCs charging in and out

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 31/01/2010 09:43

Welcome BabySG! Congratilation to you SG!

Yes very painful at first but does get easy believe me. And if it doesn;t don;t beat yourself over it.

Gio, I have got lots to ask you. we don;t go in august but june. can I email you? or you me?
