just got my birthday crock pot off tesco direct, a 6.5l one for £34.27. I had an ecoupon for free delivery so have bought dd s birthday present too...deep breath to steady self... a swing set with a glider!! £48. she will LOVE it. cant wait to secretly build it the weekend she is 3!
think we're going to have a teddy bears picnic party for her.
exciting!!! just hope the weather is nice in mid-june
dh just had a slight turn when I told him Id spent over £80 on birthday presents! but mum is giving me crock pot money tomorrow so not too bad...

VoodooApocalypse · 25/05/2009 11:56

dh gardening out the front and the sweat is dripping off his nose!! feel so lazy in here..but I have done washing and hung it on the line... and shortly will have to do luncheon! ds fell asleep on me on the sofa earlier and I fell asleep too, till dd got her bloody recorder out.

had tough night at work last night so chilling out today.

anyone else read anything by John Connelly?
Nocturnes is a wonderful collection of short stories, and I'm reading his Charlie Parker detective stories at the moment. kind of spiritual/ghost-hunter-y, legal murder mysteries, beautifully written.

worley · 25/05/2009 15:46

i dont tell dp how much i spend on things anymore!! he saw my wageslip a few weeks ago, i left it in my bag and i forgot (i left my bag in car at cub camp and had a letter in for the leader so he went back to get it out and saw my wage slip) he couldnt believe how much i got paid and i dont tell him!! lol, otherwise he would spend it all, he did apologise for reading it but saw it and was curious. it was a good month for overtime so i did tell him i dont always get that much, but it will pay for ds2's birthday party and his present. plus we are gpoing to somerset in august so if he wants spending money i have to save it up and dnot tell him i have it. or it would be takeaway every night, or new computer games.

i get some of my back pay this week which i am very excited about, been looking at woodburners already, need to get a builder to come and knock down the horrible brick surround we have a put a nice wood beam across and make the fireplace opening biggehr would love this!! [[

Jennster · 25/05/2009 16:13

Well what a gorgeous day it was 'til about half an hour ago. We went to Asda this morning and bought a paddling pool for the dc. They splashed around in it for ages. It's cloudy and overcast now. I made a gorgeous pesto with almonds and tomatoes.

Going to buy dd1 a bed from mothercare. Where would you buy a mattress from though? Sure Mothercare ones aren't great. DS can then go in dd1s cotbed. That will be fun. Trying to keep a nearly 2yo in a bed. DD1 does but not sure how they will fare in the same room.

Ds did a wee on the potty yesterday morning. [proud] Think it was a fluke, but a good start. He was very proud too.

Jennster · 25/05/2009 16:13

Haaaaa Wow one baby nappies would be fantastic......

Jennster · 25/05/2009 16:30

Jennster · 25/05/2009 22:51

Ds has a cold. No temperature just snottastically snotalicious.

Macdog - Makes a change, us getting some sun. I have strap marks from today.

Voodoo - Don't have a crock pot, but use a massive Le Creuset casserole with a lid on a very low oven.

7 Hour Lamb, Chuck all the veg you fancy into the pot, (Sweet potatoes, potatoes, courgette, aubergine, peppers) thyme, leg of lamb, garlic, a tbsp sherry, tbsp treacle on the lamb, make sure lamb doesn't touch the sides of the pot. Serve with fresh herbs and rice.

Macdog · 26/05/2009 11:09

dodging showers today. Just finished pegging out a whole load of washing when the heavens opened

we have rain rain rain this morning
it started last night with big thunder and lightening storms and hasnt stopped. our electric beens off 3 times this morning.

So, last night we were all sitting up the table for tea when i looked out of the front window to see 2 men fighting outside out house, so we all got up to have a look, !! ds1 was amazed, hes never seen a fight before!! they were all over the road and path stopping traffic, so i called the police when one was pinned down on the floor getting a pasting, but by the time the police arrived they had move up a little road a few doors up from us, then at 10pm the polce rang me to ask if they could come round there and then and get me to give a statement as it turned out they started fighting again and the police arrested them in another part of the village.

so i missed the last episode of 24, gutted!!

ds2 woke up and saw the policelady and was scared of her, as we tell him that the policeman will get him and tell him off, when he keeps trying to take his arms out of his car seatbelt. so i told her this and as she left and said to him, are you going to be a good boy for mummy and keep your arms in your seatbelt or do i have to come and see you again!! he wouldnt talk to her just nodded and went shy!! hopefully he will listen to her though!

worley · 26/05/2009 12:01

back to work tonight 5-10 then off weds and thursday. we have ds1's best friend coming to sleep tomorrow night. they had arranged it between themselves they were going to camp out in our garden but 1, we dont have a tent at the moment and 2, i wouldnt dare leave them out all night in the garden by themselves. so we have an inflateable bed he can sleep on, but i doubt there will be much sleeping! ds2 thinks the world of ds1's friend as well so he will be pleased.

Jennster · 26/05/2009 12:53

It's not warm but very windy here so have 2 loads of washing on the line. 3rd lot is waiting for space on the line. Rain is threatening but then so is bright sunshine.

Just made some disasterous hollandaise sauce to go with the asparagus. Had some left over egg yolks from the pavlova I made on Sunday. Oh well. still tastes ok. Need to stop eating so much butter though.

Jennster · 26/05/2009 12:58

And that woman on the maltezers advert doing naughty things before and after loose women adverts is just f*ing irritating. Not naughty.

Jennster · 26/05/2009 16:03

Just made some flapjacks. Can't wait for them to cool. Need to make a curry for tomorrow night with chicken that needs cooking, and we're having risotto with pesto tonight. Dh and I are going to the Trafford Centre tomorrow for a relaxing day of shopping and eating, and my sister is coming tonight too. She has training nearby tomorrow so is staying over here.

worley · 26/05/2009 23:29

Macdog · 27/05/2009 08:07

dd was really upset when I picked her up at nursery yesterday.
Wasn't till we got home that I realised her pants were in a poly bag in her backpack. She'd obviously had a soiling when she was at the loo. Am a bit that the nursery staff didn't tell me.
She was so upset about it too
First accident in ages, and first one at nursery

worley - pmsl at the policewoman. what a funny idea.

got dd new sandals from clarks yesterday size 8 one foot, 8.5 the other [hmm[ I have odd feet too! she's an E fitting, lucky one pair of sandals went narrow enough with the straps.

been on amazon spending birthday gift voucher off SIL, got justified and sasha fierce, and lots of bits for dd birthday, a tigger, pooh dvd, richard scarry's busy day book, and looked at mercy by jodi picoult but it had bad reviews so left it. think that and the whale one are the only ones I havent read. Its hard as they're all so similar to keep track of what Ive read!!

Macdog · 27/05/2009 14:35

Had quiet word with Depute manager this morning, she apologised and said she will speak to the member of staff involved and keep an eye on dd at toilet in future.

Got dd's feet measured at weekend - she's still a 6 . she has TEENY feet, surprising she doesn't tip over more often
