my mum used to throw a tantrum if anyone talked during Crossroads.

Carla · 24/03/2005 10:48

anorak I'd completely forgotton about that one! My mum's had a belt clip attached to the thing that inflated the hair thing, IYSWIM. Honestly, just how far can you wander from an electrical socket?

And supermarkets that didn't sell sandwiches.

blueteddy · 24/03/2005 10:48

The original orange space hoppers, pogo sticks, BMX bikes, mini pops (yuk), rats tail hair cuts, satin trousers, horrid pastel coloured crinkly tracksuit things, ski pants, huggy bear, walking dolls, little professor calculators, speak & spell, which was soon joined by speak & maths!
Fame sweat shirts, neon socks, rainbow & pipkins on at lunch time!
I could go on & on!

Carla · 24/03/2005 10:50

Having to buy a plug when you bought anything electrical.

John Lewis in Oxford Street closing at noon on Saturday.

Carla · 24/03/2005 10:52

Being at school, having a uniform but having to own at least one item of Fiourucci clothing.

northerner · 24/03/2005 10:54

Half day closing on a Wednesday, no shops open on a Sunday, flintstone jeans, really long songs that you rolled down for school, white musk or dewberry from the body shop.

Carla · 24/03/2005 10:54

John Collier, John Collier, the window to watch!

Clackers - two hard balls on a piece of string that you swirled round above your head and almost knocked yourself out - I think they had a comeback a few years ago and were promptly banned on the grounds of health and safety!!

Going supermarket shopping with my mum and the tills were push button affairs - it must have taken ages!!

blueteddy · 24/03/2005 12:07

Oh yes I had a cheekaboo & loved it!
They were monkey type things that sucked their thumbs wern't they?

Hellsy · 24/03/2005 12:10

Oh no Fimbo - totally bought back the Saturday trip to Asda, the new supermarket that was meant to be the bees knees - vivid, horrifying memories of the car journey fighting with my brothers and what felt like hours in the shop - ahhhhhh

northerner · 24/03/2005 12:11

Oh Yes Fimbo - those tills must have taken forever!

Those monkeys that clipped onto things - you squeezed their arms and they opened.

blueteddy · 24/03/2005 12:16
