...... do you realise we've been chatting now for almost 18months .

Berrie, thankyou for the very kind offer to mug your children. It's much appreciated .
Tbh the car only cost £150 last year so it's reached the end of it's days I'm afraid - we need to get another one.

I know the feeling though - I think I've done really well at the shops sometimes, but try as I might I can't get it below £100 a week. Must Try Harder.

Pva..folded the paper so didn't take long.
Thanks

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 27/01/2009 17:35

I'm picturing you lying on the sofa.....

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 27/01/2009 17:36

Munching lots of bickies and downing gin whilst having a Blue Peter moment on the windows!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2009 22:34

I want a pic too. If money is the reason for your odd curtains, get thee down to Ikea. I got two packets of voiles for the bedroom (2 curtains per pack) for under £6. They look lovely too.
I have just eaten 8 rashers of smoky streaky bacon (delicious) and had two glasses of wine. Oops

Berrie · 28/01/2009 07:54

Nah it's not really the money I thought they would be nice and I'm disappointed. I thought about using cheap shower curtain but they might be a bit floppy and the glue stronger meaning I'd get in a mess.

I have a blanket too Zeb

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/01/2009 08:51

The cheapest option would be to stick up old pages from the newspaper. Obviously you could make your own choice of publication!

Lyra - how's the new house coming along? Are you still in love with it?

Oggsdog · 28/01/2009 09:01

The flowers do look nice Berrie.

I wish we had an Ikea nearer. It's a 2hr journey away .

What you all up to today? Blue skies and cold here.

I spent all day yesterday battling with a sock so need to do some housework/paperwork today. Boo. Hiss.

Oggsdog · 28/01/2009 09:09

Picture from The Times - Lauren Child with the flower curtains

Berrie · 28/01/2009 09:25

Now they are laarvley!(Berrie reconsiders causing mayhem with a shower curtain, a craft knife and a tube of superglue)

Actually Zeb, I did consider newspaper!

Oggs, it's probably best not to have an Ikea nearby. I buy lots of cheap bargin things and end up spending a fortune.

Yesterday I hacked down half a sprawling tangle of shrubs/trees at the top of our drive. I have an idea to weave a willow hedge. We've always left it because it provides privacy from road (there is a theme here) but it looks awful. Anyway, today my elbow is acutely painful so it looks like it's going to be half done for a while longer. Is my body just crap or is it old age? I stopped because I suddenly remebered it was back going time of year. (previous triggers including stone carving and salsa classes)

Berrie · 28/01/2009 09:26

Raining here Oggs

Berrie · 28/01/2009 09:27

Treat yourself Oggs

LyraSilvertongue · 28/01/2009 14:28

I love ~Lauren Child's curtain but could never make anything like that.
Zeb, the house is coming along slowly but surely. I cleaned the dirty brown ceilings and cornicing yesterday so they're ready for painting (which I should be doing now, actually ). I've also be spening rather too much time trying to choose paint from the fired Earth and Farrow and Ball colour charts. I've spent a fortune on tester pots.
Hopefully the new bathroom should be going in next month. It will look a bit like this but with pale blue on the tongue and groove.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/01/2009 14:29

It's the third picture down on that link.

Berrie · 28/01/2009 14:35

Tee hee lyra, good job you said, I was horrified looking at the first two!

Looks lovely, I'd love a bath like that.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/01/2009 16:05

I think that's the exact same bath we've ordered, £299 from Bathstore.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/01/2009 16:56

I don't see what's wrong with the first two personally. Avocado's due a revival.

Lovely colours though - good choice. [Zebs nods approvingly] Blimey, it must be home-time soon!

Oggsdog · 28/01/2009 19:06

Lovely bath Lyra. I've never seen Farrow and Ball's colours. The one in the picture is nice.

Here is the curtain LC has got. Only £85 [sock]

Oggsdog · 28/01/2009 19:10

Bugger. I've got bloody scks on the brain , and I forgot the link .

Here is the curtain LC has got. It's only £85 at Pedlars [sock]

I do like it though. I like a lot of the stuff done by the designer Tord Boontje.

Berrie · 28/01/2009 22:04

Hark at you! 'I like a lot of the things by designer blah de balh!'...

Where on earth did you find it? I googled combinations of plastic laser cut curtains and found nothing!

Just been to see Slumdog Millionaire with Dh...

Berrie · 28/01/2009 22:06

Damn that curtain is nice. I think I am going to have to copy it somehow...

Berrie · 28/01/2009 22:10

Slumdog Millionaire was not a feelgood film...and I am uncomfortable with the feeling that it is being raved about because of all the horrid poor people who are actually quite human but there were some good shots...or am I supposed to say fine cinematography and dh thought it was great.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/01/2009 22:56

I wanna see Slumdog. I may go on my own midweek.
Berrie, there's no way you're going to be able to copy that curtain. it would take years. Saving up the cash to buy it would be easier.

Berrie · 29/01/2009 07:24

I can draw, that's not a problem...it would be the cutting out with a scalpel that would take time and probably go wrong.

Berrie · 29/01/2009 07:30

...and what about my 40th birthday camper van fund?

LyraSilvertongue · 29/01/2009 09:48

Breaking news: Lee and DVO are getting married. Page 3 of the Mirror has loved-up pictures of them smooching on a Caribbean beach. He ain't looking that great tbh.
