OH my. Weekends just seem such a chore at the moment. I'm knackered, there is loads to do in the house. It's not very warm and needs hoovering and mopping, we need to unpack clothes and all sorts of things, but I've had to go to bloody toddler parties every weekend in December and January. Dd's is next Saturday....Dh seems to want to do other stuff like mow the lawn and stuff in the shed, while I'm juggling the dc. Early night for me tonight I can tell you.

Ds has his first pair of shoes. Size 4 1/2. Dd is only 5 1/2. She's been in them since August. I suppose it's a blessing I don't have to keep buying her new ones.

Hope everybody has a good weekend. My mum is 60 tomorrow so we're going to her birthday party.

worley · 10/01/2009 20:28

ds1 and ds2 have colds, both grumpy and tired. we watched pirates of the carribean this morning, then had long bath which was lush, made our way around tescos then home again. fingers crossed they are well for monday.
hugs to jenn, have you any time off soon to sort things out?
ds1 has a polar bed he has on his bed...along with 20 other teddy bears/cuddly toys. he has a things about them, they all have a special place on the bed and notices if i move them, he has hardly any room to sleep cause of all his toys. his buzz lightyear has been stitched up several times as he has been worn threadbear in parts.

worley · 10/01/2009 21:12

ds1 just asked me what condoms were!!!!!!!! after pmsl i told him they were what men used on their willies and daddy knows about them more than me, so best to ask him tomorrow when he's back from work is that a cop out!!!

worley · 10/01/2009 21:17

Jennster · 10/01/2009 22:25

Oh my goodness.. Just been reading on another thread about doctors out of hours service and doctors not doing home visits. Now I'm not going to go into the details of the thread, but the gist was very pg lady can't drive 2 dc. She has flu, so has one of children and the other has blood coming out of ear. Somebody has given the poster advice about what to do about sinusitis while you are pregnant............

pink dolly, you can do a steam inhalation which might help your sinuses a little. Also, do this - blow your nose by holding one finger over one nostril, blow like mad but just hold the tissue under your nose, its gross and horrible, and quite unbelievable what comes out - you could do this after inhaling steam. You Could add some vicks or carvol but again, check with a pharmacist. That and massage your temples - it all helps.

I kid you not she has just described to the OP how to blow her nose! Does she not think the op is blowing her nose, or do people just not blow their noses properly? I am absolutely truely flabergasted.

Macdog · 11/01/2009 09:18

You get some strange post on here....we're the only sane ones

We're off to IKEA today, really need some new bowls etc. At least we'll get out of the manky weather!

worley · 11/01/2009 09:54

oohh can you pick me up on the way, i want to come to ikea. our nearest one is over 100 miles away at lakeside shopping center at thurrock, near the bluewater shopping centre. last time i went to an ikea was the one at nottingham. it was the highlight of my weekend away!!

are you sure were the sane ones?? reading some of my posts im sure they could maybe take me away!

off to the park with the boys and the pup soon. ds2 has already informed me its cold and we have to wear coats, hats gloves and socks!!!!!!!! just like his father telling me things in case i dont know!!

ThePudding · 11/01/2009 14:18

oh poor dd well and truly ill with something...becoming bunged up and temperature etc. put her down for nap with calpol again.
ds got teething rashes on his cheeks and chin, but he seems fine. I gave him toast and butter yesterday, and bits of grated cheese. really enjoying weaning him, all the fun, none of the worrying I did with dd.

lol at whats a condom...lots of teenagers dont know that one...

jen your dd has tiny feet! mine is a 71/2 (or was, in September)

how old are all our kids now?

dd - - - 2 1/2
ds - - - 6 months

ThePudding · 11/01/2009 14:19

I love Ikea

dh absolutely LOATHES it.

ThePudding · 11/01/2009 14:20

did tesco online shop and when I checked it had paid for 12 fish pies!!
I only wanted 2, and used the arrow keys to plus it to 2 so god only knows how it became 12 ha ha

Macdog · 11/01/2009 16:03

back from Ikea fully laden!
Got dd some cutlery and beakers, as well as funky potties (one black and one red - her choice!) and a couple of the safety step things.
We got some new soup bowls, cheese grater, food bags and plasters!

We all had lunch there, then had a lovely(!) drive down the coast to get home.

dd will be 3 in Feb

OP posts:
Jennster · 11/01/2009 21:37

DS 18 months week on saturday
DD2 -17weeks (that is due in 17 weeks)

Jennster · 11/01/2009 21:40

Yup dd is truely tiny. She's getting taller and starting to grow into 2-3 clothes. I have size 8 feet, but then so has dh.

Ds is truely monsterous. He weighs 2 lbs less than her.

Jennster · 11/01/2009 21:41

But she is very very clever unlike poor ds

Macdog · 12/01/2009 11:50

downloaded dd a chart from here

So far carpet 1 - 0 potty

OP posts:
ThePudding · 12/01/2009 14:29

my dd still doenst poo in potty

she s had a dreadful couple of days bless her, all temperature and blocked up. it's becoming a cold now.

blimey Jenn and MD your dd's are very close in age!

my sister's boss has turned around and said there is no pert time job for her after her mat. leave,,after telling her there would be last year! and saying to my sister that she cant afford to have 5 months off! psycho boss. ive started a legal thread about it to see if anyone has been in a similar situ and what they did.

worley · 12/01/2009 15:06

ds1 is 10 going on 20
ds2 is 2 and a half (will be 3 in june)

i have started a thread about my boss also, she has decided that we can now only have 1 week of school holiday off a year, we can only have either 1 week at christmas or 1 week at easter, not both off and between june and sept we are only allowed to take 2 weeks holiday.
so if im only allowed to take 1 week of half term holidays a year i dont know what we will do to cover the holidays. and what do i need to take holiday without the children for??? for gods sake. she is the same boss who told me that she always managed to workfull time when i asked/needed time off for something with the ds2. she made me feel really bad then i find out that she had a live in au pair and her dh works from home so to her childcare was never an issue. some people live in a different world. she also told a collegue that she had to come into work after her mils funer, she couldnt have the whole day off !!!

ThePudding · 12/01/2009 15:14

christ she sounds like a piece.
i was just revising some employment law and sueing for constructive dismissal etc

keep a diary Worley, everything ridiculous she says to you/ others. and who witnessed it. you never know when you may need it!

Jennster · 12/01/2009 17:51

Worley, why not dump on her the 13 (?) weeks (albeit unpaid) parental leave you are entitled to then. That will piss her off.

Jennster · 12/01/2009 17:55

Having said that, we are only allowed 2 weeks max off at any one time, no holiday at all from 1st December to about 7 January, and are meant to spread the holiday over the 4 quaters of the year. Having said that it is down to manager's (mine) discretion.

I used to work in a shop where there was nobody with children that weren't adult and knowing how dead the summer holidays were I actively encouraged them to take holiday then.

Macdog · 12/01/2009 19:37
OP posts:
worley · 13/01/2009 14:32

i have looked up the parentla leave today, i thought we could only take 4 weeks but turns out it is 13 weeks!!! i have to give 3 months notice of when i want to take it and they can still turn me down for it. which no doubt she would try to.
she is a horror for a boss, she used to be okish but got promoted and turned hitlerish scince. shes the one who told me i wasnt going to be doing my i/v training now as i came back part time. who sent me to occupational health and then hasnt spoken to me scince as she got reported for not referring me when i told her i was under pressure after dps mum died and all the poop that came with that etc etc. it is scince sept she has not spoken to me.

sometimes i think i will go do my teacher training just to get out of the nhs!! and have school holidays off too

worley · 13/01/2009 14:34

oh, and dp's work will only let him have 1 week off during summer holiday!! so how we would go abroad for a holiday i dont know! at least we only want to go to wales, but i wish they would hurry up and say yay or nay so i can book it.

worley · 13/01/2009 14:56

off to make some chicken soup for tea, not made from scratch before so wish me luck .............
