think we've been deleted,so shall we put ourselves here in other subjects ?
Sleepless night fretting about T and loos and lunches at big school - how neurotic am I ?!

OP posts:
hippipotami · 22/12/2008 18:16

ah.... em.... shuffles feet....

It is a group of long standing mn oldies who have set up a secret forum run along similar lines to mn. Except is it not googlable and membership is by invitation and vote only.
So a group of longstanding mumsnetters not invited to be moldies are (understandably) hurt at being excluded....

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 22/12/2008 18:18

oh, well should I be put out ? I go back to 2002

hippipotami · 22/12/2008 19:41

Only if those who set it up are what you would consider friends and they did not invite you...
I did wonder actually if you were a mouldie because of how long you have been here...

I am personally not too bothered, being a newbie etc, but some mners like twinset, emkana, flight to name a few are quite upset at being 'left out'...

It made horrific reading to be honest, with arguments being slung left right and centre. It was a bit like car crash tv, I could not tear myself away

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 22/12/2008 20:58

oh, sounds rather sad really - am not bothered myself !

hippipotami · 23/12/2008 10:20

It was an ugly thread, and after I initially mentioned it to you I then got worried in case you either were a mouldie or were not a mouldie but felt upset at not being asked...

I personally am not fussed. And the threads did not make nice reading, it was basically a massive bunfight.....

Argh, we are still not well in the house of flu. E feels worse today. She has spent all nigth coughing and now has a sore throat adn is exhausted. She is on the sofa with cbeebies.
I feel very head-coldy and my limbs ache. I still have sooo much to do before Christmas and am just not in the mood to do any of it...
Bah humbug!

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 23/12/2008 11:11

well,in that case am very happy not to be part of it ! Am so sorry you are feeling poorly and E isn't better - it's rotten. T didn't eat all his breakfast so really hope he is ok- he is now drinking some green tea and managing a mini mince pie (which we really bought for Rudolph) - I can take or leave a m pie but actually these are very nice and wee - M&S.
Please feel better soon
Hope hotcross doglet is ok too

hippipotami · 23/12/2008 11:26

oh, poor Rudolf, having his mince pies eaten!! . Hope T manages to avoid this flu bug.
I quite like a warm mince pie, with some cream....yum!

I too hope hotcross's doglet is okay, they are a worry these pets! Are you still hoping to get a dog one day?

I had hoped to get out into the woods with O and E and dillydog to go foraging for holly etc to make a centerpiece. I had even bought a block of oasis! But we are just feeling too weak (simpering emoticon)
E has not yet managed to make it off the sofa and I simple feel worn out....

Never mind. I have some chores in the house I need to be getting on with.

Back later

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 23/12/2008 12:06

oh yes, would love a dog still, though health worries are something thatI'd fret about, pet wise - we went through quite a lot with our last cat and it was very distressing. Also, if I'm being honest, the mess that puppies make -dh would quail at it !!

hippipotami · 23/12/2008 17:23

I agree with the puppy mess. And even as a supposedly mature 3-and-a-half-year-old dillydog still leaves footprints and hairballs behind, and he also shreds any tissue given half a chance!

Great fun though

Right, have to tend to dinner

HoHoHotcrossbunny · 01/01/2009 11:49

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope 2009 is a happy, non-stressful year with lots of good health and cheer!

Will pop back later for a catch up. Hope you're well.

hippipotami · 01/01/2009 13:28

Happy New Year to both of you!!

I hope 2009 is all you wish it to be and includes plenty of Elevenses

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/01/2009 21:37

bit late as I've been away, but HAPPY NEW YEAR and hope to have lots of Elevenses in 2009 xxxx

helo ! am up and about as I need to get acclimatised to early rising for tomorrow when T returns to school !
Also need to see if my car will start and if I does I must get it a new battery as it's been struggling and was completely dead after we got back from Notts. having been dormant for a week.Started it yesterday with jump leads but don't want to risk it being unreliable. And I must make dentist appointment to see to chipped filling - yes, another one !
Hope you are all ok and not too chilly and that the dcs are happy about the return to school - are they off today or tomorrow ?

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 05/01/2009 09:31

Hi MAS! Well done on being up and about even though school isn't til tomorrow! We had to wake B this morning for school. Thank goodness we had snow to wake up for, so she wasn't too grumpy Can't believe she's gone back, the house seems very quiet

Hope the car's OK. They really don't like not being driven, do they? Dh's car is on the drive as he can't use it for a bit. Hope it's OK just sitting there...

Poor you about the filling. Do you have a nice dentist? We're looking for a dentist I can bear to see. I'm a complete coward about going.

I'm off to start gettting the house straight. Christmas was so manic I sort of gave up

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2009 11:37

morning hotcross ! T very excited about the snow too ! Hope B has a good first day back. Car is fine now it has a new battery..the other must be about 6 yrs old and it's too risky to hang on with the old one wondering whether it'll work or not. Had it sorted while we wandered into town to book dentist (who is nice and very good and I hope will be able to patch it up not too expensively next week) and booked hair cut for T and bought croissants. I don't know what cc my car is,much to my embarrassment - had to ring dh to ask..tsk.

Morning
Well, I had a lovely lie-in, until 10am
Will pay for it tomorrow, when O is back at school. E has an inset day tomorrow so is not back till Weds. But lovely friend T(the mad dci) just rang and invited us to lunch tomorrow, so that should be fun (her dd H is in E's class)

Sorry to hear about chipped fillings - and remember not to keep running your tongue over it!! [stern look]

Sorry to hear B is back at school already hotcross, I am dreading it....
I love love love them being off and I am slowly developing a phobia of all things school - related. Not sure what is happening to be honest, I used to love the whole PTA thing, and the helping out, and the being involved, and chattign to the mums at teh gate. But now I just want to drop O and E and run away as fast as I can....
Am becoming an old grump I think...

We are spending today tidying O and E's bedrooms (much to their disgust) But at least we will be indoors and warm.... (although am hoping to drag us all into the woods to walk dillydog)

Have a nice day, back later

hippipotami · 05/01/2009 11:45

Oh MAS, well done on T adopting a dog! I don't really go on FB as I really don't 'get' it, but will have a look later

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2009 12:58

oh dear, I am spending too much time on FB I fear ! Am looking forward to seeing which dog T is sponsoring though...

OP posts:
hippipotami · 05/01/2009 13:06

I have not got to grips with FB, I fear I am too old and too much of a technophobe....

Have just spent a fortune in the Boden sale. Argh, dh is goign to freak, we are meant to be economising.....)or is it economizing??)

In my defence, I have not bought clothes for dd for a while as we have been benefitting from handmedowns. And all the handmedowns we do have are trousers (lovely ones too) but dd has completely - and almost overnight - decided she is done with her tomboy image. She wants to wear dresses only and wants to grow her hair
Am quite happy, she is sooo skinny that we struggle to get trousers adn joggers to stay up whereas dresses can just hang from her shoulders, no belts or taking in required!

Let me know about the dog - what a lovely idea! In fact, I may sponser a dog in my friend K's dc's names next year as a present. They sort of want a dog but are also a little afraid of them, so this may be the perfect compromise!

hippipotami · 05/01/2009 13:06

dd? of course for you and hotcross that is E!

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2009 13:38

arf ! E will look cute in dresses - my niece is similar age and I love her clothes...
FB is just great for being nosy really - I just love people's photos and videos (if you look on mine there's a new video taken by T on his new camera featuring his cousin M - is funny)
Will let you know all about the dog - it'd be a lovely present btw I think for anyone loving dogs but unable to have one of their own.

OP posts:
hippipotami · 05/01/2009 14:04

Yes, I think she will look nice. And it will make such a nice change from jeans and joggers which has been her staple wardrobe for the past year! I am going to enjoy her being girly for a while
I have bought her the following: scroll down for the blue spot one
scroll down and click on the blue spot one AND the rose lollipop one, I bought both
the pink big flower one
the pink red striped one
the cappucino pig one
the fig coloured one to go with a skirt she has been given

Urgh, how naughty was I

In my defense though, the boden stuff washes and lasts brilliantly and in teh sale are very very good value for money!

(Well that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!! )

hippipotami · 05/01/2009 14:23

Actually, the jacket is not overly girly.... But I like it and E and I preferred it to the brown spotty one. (and E would not entertain the non-spotty versions )

I had my heart set on a duffel coat for her, but they only had grey left, and that was just too dull...We wanted the green one...

Hotcrossbunny · 05/01/2009 14:47

Those are all gorgeous Hippi. Lucky E will look fab

Have I missed something about adopting dogs??? Sounds exciting. How does it work? I haven't managed to get into FB. I don't 'get' the poking thing etc etc. I can't see the point when I can email.....Although I do see that you can search for people, which could be fun...

We still have a wonky dog. We thought he was much better after Christmas. We'd done all the painkillers etc but Hogmanay he yelped again, so back to the Vet... They have referred him for an MRI - about £1500 Yikes, thank goodness for insurance. However, if he needs an op(approx £3000), we'll have hit our max of £4,500 and will have to cough up the rest. Nothing is cheap, is it?

hippipotami · 05/01/2009 14:53

Aw hotcross, so sorry doglet is still poorly
I hope it can be sorted out...
And thank heavens for insurance - and you have reminded me that dilly's insurance lapsed in teh summer adn I have forgotten to renew it

T is sponsoring a dog through the DogsTrush (irc) which sounds like a fab thing to do
