think we've been deleted,so shall we put ourselves here in other subjects ?
Sleepless night fretting about T and loos and lunches at big school - how neurotic am I ?!

crikey hippi - I am so bad a maths,I really haven't a clue !

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 25/02/2009 17:45

140cm for the first one and £28 for the second.
I love those kinds of questions.
O is struggeling putting the wording into a sum. The actual maths he can do, but it is figuring out what calculations to use which is the tricky bit!

Hotcrossbunny · 25/02/2009 17:52

I have gone into a panic just reading those questions! Fractions were never my thing. Also I just can't be bothered to work them out properly, so take silly short cuts just to get an answer. Sometimes I get the answer right.....

Cucumbers were up to £1.28 today, with a huge one only 15p more, so I got the big one as B will demolish it in 3 bites almost

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/02/2009 17:52

see,my mind just switches off - odd as I am quite a logical, methodical person and I love science-y things

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 25/02/2009 17:53

I got a bag of new potatoes for £1 and an avocado for 89p

hello - hope you are both well today. Have been to coffee with my mum and my friend S who is advising her on grass/turf..croissants too. The saga of my parents garden room continues - poor dad is very stressed by it all..I feel so bad for him.
Was also very touched by the beautiful pictures of Ivan Cameron with his father and the one with his mum too - it makes me feel so sad for them.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 26/02/2009 12:37

Coffee with turf advice and croissants sounds nice!
Sorry to hear your dad is getting stressed by it all though!

Am feeling very for the Cameron family and wish the press would leave them be. Have not looked at any pictures beyond the one in teh paper which was their christmas card.

Have just tidied and dusted O and E's rooms, they both have a friend coming back this afternoon. (the girl L I used to look after who is now in Reception, and her brother B who is in O's class)
Am so not in the mood for feeling sociable. Have had a killer of a headache all week (time of the month related)and just want to curl up under the duvet with some comfort food.

Oh well.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/02/2009 12:37

oh poor hippi

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 26/02/2009 12:41

'Tis okay, I will live to fight another day. I used to get a headache at teh start of my period for one day only, then it became two days, then it became two days at the start and one day at the end, and now it seems to start the day before I am due and not go away until 2 days after my period has finished.
Find the headache worse than the actual period!

Hotcrossbunny · 26/02/2009 18:00

Sorry you're suffering Hippi. Are you feeling any better now? Headaches are one of the most debilitating things to have - I can never concentrate properly when I've got one. Does anything take it away? I get dreadful headaches due to the whiplash and paracetamol doesn't touch them. The physio recommended co-codamol today, but I'm reluctant to start them, as I know they can be a bit addictive...

Hope your dad feels a little happier about the work after this mornings coffee and croissant MAS. I bet they're really grateful to have you close by.

I was so sad to hear about the Camerons too. The death of a child always seems so wrong. They sound like a really close family and little Ivan was obviously a very special part of it. Hopefully they will be given some space to be together.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/02/2009 18:09

hope you are feeling better hippi...
guess what ? T's new passport has arrived - it only took a week !! Have copied it and sent with deposit to school for French trip - in fact we delivered it by hand to be sure

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 26/02/2009 20:11

I am a lot better tonight, thanks guys Headache nothing more than a dull ache.
O and E played wonderfully with B and L and a great time was had by all. It was a very easy afternoon for me and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it intead of the usual clockwatching I do...

O and E are in bed now so I am going to use the time to finally get my CV finished. I want to hand it in at the secondary personally next Weds when I go to invigilate.

Better get a move on

Am gutted though, Hustle is not on tonight. I shall really miss it - I had developed a bit of a thing for Robert Glenister (gawd my taste in men is a bit worrying isn't it )

Hotcrossbunny · 27/02/2009 17:11

Hello - hope you've both had a nice day. Hasn't the sunshine been lovely? It makes me feel much more energetic and I actually wanted to take the dog for a walk earlier, sometimes it's such a chore...

B and I have just been to the local garden centre for a drink and a play. We met one of her friends from nursery, which was lucky as I could then sit and drink my tea while they hurtled around madly Not the attitude I know, but hide and seek does begin to get tedious! She had a lovely time, and it was nice to see them playing so well together

I went to a friend's for coffee this morning and I'm now panicking that I stayed too long How long would you normally stay??? She was adamant that she had nothing else to be doing and her dcs were playing happily, but I still worry that it was a wee bit too long... It was probably just under two and a half hours - is that dreadful? Hope she wasn't itching to get the washing on or something

hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 27/02/2009 18:14

Hi hotcross, don't fret, two and a half hours sounds fine

We had a lovely day too. Did some chores this morning and had to get wrapping paper and a card as E is off to a friend's party tomorrow.
Then I did Toe by Toe at O 's school, before letting O and E play in the park after school for a bit. E played lovely with a range of children from her class, and there was a party invitation in her bag from a lovely little boy in her class, so I think she is fine

O did well at his swimming lesson, and now we are home, dh is home from Leeds and has taken O and E to the chinese for a takeaway

So am going to lay the table and will be back at some point over the weekend

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/02/2009 18:34

hooray for hippi's dh being home (and Chinese too -yum !)And great news about E and also O's swimming...a good end to the week chez hippi
Hotcross - am sure you hadn't outstayed your welcome ! It depends on what I have to do usually, how long I stay - I tend to think that people have had enough and go after about 2 hours, less if I have to get on,or they say they have things to do. I get restless too if anywhere too long don't fret - it sounds fine to me.
Dh went to osteopath this morning and then worked from home, which is nice. Our decorator came to fix a date to do our hall and landing which is exciting - it'll be in April - have chosen 2 colours..quite cool and subtle, the woodwork including banister spindles etc will be white gloss, ceiling white...the colour above the dado rail is White Cotton and the one below Egyptian Cotton (my colourful friend F would have a fit as it's waaaay too neutral for her tastes !)
Went into T's old school in the afternoon to help with 2 small groups of yrs 5 and 6 drawing birds and plants for the wildlife trail signs - these are apparently the G&T children - they were very enthusiastic and worked very well and produced really good drawings - it was fun though I had to show them some of my work and talk about it - eek !
T had swimming after that - I nearly fell asleep poolside as it was so warm and stuffy in there.
Have great weekends - it's dh's birthday on Sunday so we'll be celebrating !

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 27/02/2009 19:28

Can't believe its your Dh's birthday again MAS - hasn't the year gone fast???? Hope you all have a lovely time celebrating!

Hooray for your Dh being home Hippi - you must be very pleased to see him And your lovely Dc's of course! It sounds like they are both doing really well.

I feel like snoozing when I take B swimming too, infact if the lesson lasted any longer I'd be well away!

Right, Dh is finally on his way home, so must go and look busy. Have a lovely weekend everyone

hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 28/02/2009 10:52

Morning

Dh has taken E for her swimming lesson, so I get a bit of time on here to do laundry

Does T still have his lessons? When will they stop?
There was a man at teh pool yesterday explaining all about the new system - I am very enthusiastic. Yes it is going to be more expensive, but they do get more lessons (the summer term will last from April until Mid August for instance) and they are abolishing assessments and just moving children up as and when they are ready. Much much better, as E goes to pieces during assessments, so she will have swam very well for the whole term, but not perform on that exact day she is being assessed, and not move up because the boxes on the assesment form were not ticked!
But we still have to do assesments for this term, which will take place next week and teh week after. Wish us luck!!

Happy birthday to your dh for tomorrow MAS. Are you doing anything nice?

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2009 12:42

lots of luck with assessments hippi - am sure it'll be fine
T will have lessons until Easter then that'll be it I think. Am taking dh and T out to P Express this evening and we'll have something nice for supper tomorrow, birthday cake and I bought a bottle of Prosecco which is chilling nicely !
Have just sorted out lots of stuff for Oxfam shop - a huge bag of reuseable clothes and a big bag of stuff that can be recycled.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 28/02/2009 17:13

P Express sounds nice

Have just come back from the swimming party E attended this afternoon.
It was good watching her interact with the other children - most of her class were at this party.
E was not one of the ones constantly going round in the same group of children, she was happy to do her own thing in the water, but she also interacted nicely with a variety of classmates at times.
The other lovely thing was that the dominant M (who has been all over E's best friend little S) tried to grab little S and drag her away, and little S immediately grabbed E to make sure she was included
And one gorgeous little boy made a point of coming up to me to ask where E had gone (she had gone to the toilet), so that was nice too
So I am for now totally re-assured that she is not an outcast, she is not ignored/disliked by all and she is not 'all alone' as E likes to phrase it
Phew!

We are off to the Scouts Quiz night in a moment. Should be fun!

Have a nice evening

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2009 21:18

hippi, you do fret so,I'm sure you needn't but I quite understand it - I'm the same !
Had a lovely supper at P Express- T now in the bath and dh and I will have a glass of wine in a mo.

OP posts:
hippipotamiHasLostFourPounds · 01/03/2009 10:04

Nope, not fretting at the moment, was just happy she got on so well at the party

Sounds like you had a nice evenign last night, happy birthday to dh!

Quiz night was great fun, we came 11th out of 18 teams, so we are definately not as intelligent as we thought we were, but never mind

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/03/2009 13:12

at Quiz Night !
Am glad all went so well at the party
dh is having a jolly day !

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 01/03/2009 20:37

Happy Birthday Mr MAS! Hope you've all had a lovely day.

We all seem to be fretters, don't we... It does sound like E is doing just fine though. We can't all be liked by everyone.

Am at your quiz night. We love going to quiz nights, but don't manage very often. Dh is the one to have on your team - he is a fount of useless information

We've had a lovely low-key weekend. Yesterday B went to a party and we went to the pub and read the paper We'd planned on painting but just really didn't feel like it...

Today we bought dh some sports gear as the physio has recommended he join the gym. No idea what men wear to work out, so he has shorts/t-shirt and tracky bottoms. I also got some trainers/walking shoe type things. Then we went to the park and B tried riding her bike again. She did brilliantly but is still determined not to go anywhere other than the paddling pool as there is a soft landing there She was turning corners and everything today so definite progress.

I managed to burn my arm dishing up tea, so have a couple of blisters on my arm despite holding it under water for ages Am off to have a cup of tea in consolation!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/03/2009 10:48

glad you had a nice weekend hotcross, though sorry to hear about your arm - hope it is less sore today. T still has a mark on his wrist from his first cookery lesson in September !
My dad wears tracksuit bottoms and a t shirt to his gym - don't think he has any fancy shorts or anything !
That's great about B's cycling - she'll soon be confident I'm sure.
I'd be very competitive if I were on a quiz team - which I think is very unnattractive, but I don't like losing !!
Dh had a very nice birthday too

OP posts:
Hotcrossbunny · 02/03/2009 12:05

Hi MAS Glad dh had a nice day. Sounds like dh won't stick out too much at the gym in what we've bought then....

I've just had a lovely lady here for coffee - the one who forgot to come a few weeks ago She is really easy company, and her little girl is so cute, so it was very relaxed and stress-free. Hope we get to do it again! And of course it made me hoover and dust etc, so I have a nice clean house to enjoy today

Right, off to try and make a cushion cover... Wish me luck!

BTW - do you think we should set a day for meeting up? Can't believe we're into March already!
