afternoon all...hope dh is ok hotcross...
hippi - went into uniform shop and there were no green cardis at all...apparently knitwear is very much less popular than it was....

hauntinghippipotami · 27/10/2008 17:58

Thanks MAS. We went to the mahoosive Tesco and M&S near here. No green cardi to be seen. Apparently green knitted school cardigans are 'summer uniform' and won't be back in stock until the spring.
Knitted cardigans as summer uniform? In Australia maybe, but here???

How are things hotcross?

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 27/10/2008 20:35

hey, name change again !!! how silly about the cardigans.
Any news hotcross ?

hauntinghippipotami · 27/10/2008 21:34

back to hippi, like the old one the best

daft about the cardis - never mind, she has one, so she will have to look after it!!

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 28/10/2008 14:23

am worried about the hotcross family ...hope mr hotcross is recovering and hotcross and B and MIL are coping.
Will be seeing my MIL over next few days too...
Does E have one of those sweatshirting cardis ? not as nice as woolly ones I always think. T's school has a jumper but it's considered very uncool to wear them, so they just make do with shirt and blazer - will be adding a vest or white t shirt undrneath. Dh is hopelessly pathetic and wears many layers - I hate feeling over dressed but get very chilly hands..bad circulation in my fingers.

hauntinghippipotami · 28/10/2008 14:53

I think Mr Hotcross must be in hospital recovering from his op, so hotcross must be visiting and keeping B happy.

E has two of the sweatshirt style cardigans. But they are a very odd shape - very wide at teh shoulders so she looks like a butch bodybuilder, adn very tight at teh waist - so it bunches her skirt up in a very odd manner...
Besides, the knitted ones with teh crochetted edge look sooo much sweeter

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 28/10/2008 15:19

yes, hotcross must be hospital visiting I'm sure
I love knitwear, though as a child I found it very scratchy - mum used to order us proper Norweigian jumpers which were devilishly uncomfortable

hotcrosswerebunny · 28/10/2008 16:53

Hello! I'm here!

Dh came home last night - we struggled to get through the discharge. Consultant said yes, Staff Nurse said no, not til there were results of blood test and sick note! It's all been a blur and I have to get tea on the go in a mo, so will try to come back later, but thank you for thinking of us

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 28/10/2008 17:19

oh you poor things - sounds a nightmare...hope dh is recovering and not too uncomfortable xxxxx

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 29/10/2008 09:26

hauntinghippipotami · 29/10/2008 09:30

Have a great time
Sorry to hear about your tooth - don't keep rubbing it with your tongue now will you!!

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 29/10/2008 09:37

arf...I am doing exactly that-- you get used to the hole !!

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/11/2008 21:16

am back !!!!! hope you are both very well and that dh is recovering hotcross.
It took us seven and a half hours to drive to Nottinghamshire - madness !! delays on M25 and M1, nothing like a crash or anything awful, just slow at every junction plus the M1 was closed after Mansfield - it took us 2 hours alone to get from leaving the motorway to dh's mum's village, usually it's about just over half an hour.We were going to stop in Derbyshire to see my friend but had to abandon that idea. Anyway, we got there and had a lovely time, saw lots of family, ate nice things and had fun. Homeward journey today was easy and no delays ! It was v chilly up there though !

Hello

Welcome back MAS! Sorry haven't been near the computer Hippi, this is the first chance for days! Thank goodness B has gone back to school. That's the first time I've felt like that, but everything has been chaos here, and she was getting bored and grumpy!

Dh is OK. He's fed up, but isn't in too much pain etc etc. It's odd having to do everything here. Dh always drives when we go out, and I can't get used to driving him places. I haven't sat down for a week now

Sorry your journey was so bad. i really think Britain is beginning to grind to a halt....How's the tooth MAS? Not too sore, I hope? I had a day of toothache last week, a reminder I must must find myself a dentsit. B is registered, but our NHS dentist went private and I wasn't prepared to pay to see her. I'd rather find a kind sympathetic one if I actually have to go private!

Right, off to town....Will try to pop back later, but am very aware I had time on my hands before dh's leg and now I don't

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/11/2008 13:18

tooth is fine and not sore at all, thank you ! I daresay it'll need to be repaired though ..how long will dh be in plaster for hotcross ? Don't wear yourself out xxx

Am back from appt at hospital to get my MRI results and see the consultant. Good news is nothing sinister showed up on the MRI, bad news is I have completely lost any vestibular function in my left ear, and a significant amount in my right ear. Am being referred for physio, but he doesn't think it'll help much All in all a bit gloomy, but will just have to get on with it. He's said I must rest more, keep fit, and have regular eye tests as my eyes are what is keeping me (mainly) upright. He was very very nice though and I cried

Dh is in plaster for 8-10 weeks we think. He's supposed to see the consultant at the end of this week to see when he can go back to work. He's getting cheesed off being dependent on me I think.

MAS - it'll be strange going to T's old school, wont it? Nice to still be involved though.

Hope you're OK Hippi???

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/11/2008 13:50

gosh hotcross - at least it isn't bad news but still, must make you feel and a bit odd...huge hug from me...wish I could think of a wise thing to say. XXXXXXXX

morning ...
hooray for Barack Obama !!
Landscaping meeting was ok, friend S had done some lovely plans but feels disgruntled because they seem to expect her to do these things without any recompense - they take time and materials and her skills as a garden designer- I suppose the same for me, if I do the wildlife trail signs and animal identification pictures..I'm hopeless at asking for money, and don't want to really, but poor S has done lots of work for them..I think they just don't realise, rather than that they're taking advantage,
New fairly scary parent on the committee too ! T sat and read in the library- it didn't feel strange to be back really.
Managed to get parents moving card done - hope they like it - is a drawing of new house with their 3 cats lurking about.

hotcrosswerebunny · 05/11/2008 10:32

Hi MAS. That all sounds fab. Are your parents terribly excited? I'm very about your parents living so close. It would make life so much easier...

I'm off to have my haircut in a few minutes. It's long overdue - we've cancelled the appointment 3 times already!

Am beginning to panic about a wedding on the 15th, mums 70th on the 16th, sister's 40th on 7th Dec and Christmas racing up We've nearly sorted mums presents (tickets for the Horse of the Year Show) but nothing else. The wedding is over in Kent and my BIL is going to have to pick us up and drive us there, so I need to sort out insurance. All in all I feel a bit panicky and out of control, but am sure it'll all work out OK!

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/11/2008 11:04

yes, think they are looking forward to it very much ! I am very excited and it will be so much easier having them so near...Bath isn't that far away, but they are literally going to be on my backdoor step !
Hope hair cut goes well and that you get all your present buying done - am sure everything and the wedding etc will all be ok...I panic like mad in advance over all kinds of things.
