think we've been deleted,so shall we put ourselves here in other subjects ?
Sleepless night fretting about T and loos and lunches at big school - how neurotic am I ?!

OP posts:
hotcrosswerebunny · 22/10/2008 19:48

We're back! Parents evening was lovely. All positives, so we're happy (and relieved!) For some reason I was worrying - I guess because B is by far the youngest in the class, but apparently she's in the top groups for everything so no worries. Targets are to use capital letters and full stops consistently, and to talk about 'why' for Science. She's good at recording what happens, but less confident about 'why' they happen... I feel more trips to the science museum coming up

Right, off to cook tea...

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 22/10/2008 21:21

Yay !

bigscaryorangespiderami · 23/10/2008 10:38

Great news about parent's evening
E's one is not until November - and like you I feel nervous....

Thanks for your kind words re the SAHM issue. It was a very interesting thread, and it made me realise a few things about myself and how I feel compared to others (or feel the same)
I did not get an interview for the job I had applied for, part of me is disappointed and part of me is relieved.
Dh is not putting any pressure on me to go out to work, but he would like me to work from home to earn a bit of pocket money. Problem is, what can I do????
Never mind, I am invigilating at the secondary again for the first two weeks in November. That should bring in a bit of money. Enough to pay for E's birthday present - a new bike. (not a hugely expensive one, just a Halfords own brand one of around £65) and a bell, stand, mudguards and a new bike helmet

I am completely baffled by my inability to find a green school cardi for E. In the past I have always bought her those green cotton ones - you will know the ones I mean, from Adams, with the slightly frilly edge and flower shaped buttons. Cheap and sweet. But I can't find any anywhere. Next no longer do green, Adams don't have any, nothing in Bhs, nothing in Debenhams, and nothing in my huge local Sainsbury. Adams and M&S don't have any on-line either.
Am going to try Tesco and M&S and then I will admit defeat.
Mucho bizarre!
(and then I may take you both up on your kind offer to look locally

Right, better go to Sainsbury, back later

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 23/10/2008 10:41

next time I go past I'll peek in to see if they do and how much !

bigscaryorangespiderami · 23/10/2008 10:44

Thank you

hotcrosswerebunny · 23/10/2008 16:58

Hippi, there is a green cardi on John Lewis website - free delivery I think, but it's quite pricey, and is a thick woolly one. Don't know if that's plausible....

Have had a manic day today. Spent this morning shopping for Secret Santa presents for teh dcs to buy for their parents at the Chrsitmas Fair. We've got about £70 worth of tat so far

Have demolished the teetering pile of ironing this afternoon, and am off out in a mo to help at Storynight at school. B is v slowly eating her tea, then has to jump into jimjams and we'll be off!

Hope you've had nice days??

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 23/10/2008 17:05

goodness, you never seem to stop hotcross !
bit of a dull day here, washing then Sainsbury's really.
Cardi sounds nice btw...

bigscaryorangespiderami · 23/10/2008 19:36

Thanks hotcross, cardi sounds lovely so will head over there (online) in a minute and have a look.
You do seem to have had a busy day hotcross, do you ever stop??
It is those duracell batteries isn't it??

I have done some chores and done the weekly shop at Sainsbury today.

Right, will pop off to JL

bigscaryorangespiderami · 23/10/2008 19:39

Argh, they only have size 15-16 in stock in the bottle green.
See what I mean, there appears to be a bottle-green-cardigan shortage

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 23/10/2008 21:10

! oh dear...have you tried the children's clothing site the name of which totally escapes me - it does a lot of uniformy things, a little like the GLTC but is called something else - I remember getting stuff for T there when he was much smaller...will go and think...

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 23/10/2008 21:19

no,it's gone - it may not even exist any longer - they had a red label inside the clothes and there was a catalogue, basic uniform type things, nice cotton trousers which T wore to school in infants. sorry !

bigscaryorangespiderami · 24/10/2008 11:23

I can't think of that brand MAS. I have always used either Next or M&S for O and E as they have been the best quality/fit for them.
But Next have discontinued green cardi's adn M&S are out of stock....

Will have to scour every shop I come across over half term.

Having a quiet day today - a bit of housework, toe by toe this afternoon and then O has a swimming lesson.

Hope you are both okay

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 24/10/2008 11:42

well,I'll check out the uniform shop anyway...
am off to meet old school friend for lunch -we've known each other since we started at secondary..think she is kindly taking me for our birthdays (we're a week apart) - nice pub in nearby village -the one with the shop which I'm doing the hearts for-will drop them off too- very highly regarded food-wise..yum.

bigscaryorangespiderami · 25/10/2008 10:02

Thank you mas

How was lunch?

I actually typed a lenghty post yesterday but then the pc went pop and mn disappeared....

Off to take E to her swimming lesson in a mo.

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 25/10/2008 14:05

damn, I have been into town (took blazer and various coats/bulky bits to launderette) and was so busy making a hair cut and contact lens appointment and rushing back to retrieve clothes from machine that I completely forgott to look today hippi - will try to remember this week and report back.
Lunch was nice - we just had a starter each and some lovely sundried tomato foccaccia to share with oil & balsamic to dip in - all v nice indeed. Went into the shop to leave my hearts and have been asked to make another 12,which is great, but really need to get hold of more buttons - still waiting for second half of my previous order to arrive.
Best news - my parents have exchanged on the house and will move on 5th Dec !!

bigscaryorangespiderami · 25/10/2008 14:17

Oh MAS, don't worry about the cardi - it is half term now, there really is no rush. I am still hopeful I can find one in teh big Tesco nearby (about 25 minutes away by car)

Lunch sounds yummy, and great news about your hearts. How much do they sell for?

Brilliant news about your parents moving date!! Into their new house by Christmas

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 25/10/2008 14:19

well,I will look because I'm curious now and like a challenge !
The hearts sell for £5.95 and I get £3 ...so a bit of profit, though how accurate my costings are is anyone's guess - maths being my most hopeless subject.
Am thrilled they are moving before Christmas - Christmas together, without travelling - yay !!

bigscaryorangespiderami · 25/10/2008 14:27

at teh challenge!

Money for the hearts sounds good

One of O's friends is moving house (staying local) and said it is all going ahead very quickly because 'mummy said the estate agents are not very busy at the moment because no-one wants to buy houses' . It made me
But indeed, if teh slowing of sales mean they actually get things done for their clients without having to be nagged 100 times then that can only be a good thing!

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 25/10/2008 14:30

they must have been joyful at estate agents yesterday then !! seriously though, I'd begun to convince myself that it was going to fall through..I can't tell you how awful that would have been !

bigscaryorangespiderami · 25/10/2008 14:33

I am really pleased for you
It will be fab for T to have them close by aswell.

Right, better go and do some housework - would love to stay on here all day. Dh and O are going to BIL's to fix some lights, E and I will make biscuits [yum]

Tonight we are going on teh local miniature railway halloween ride. Should be fun

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 25/10/2008 14:39

halloween railway ride sounds fun - have a lovely time

hotcrosswerebunny · 25/10/2008 21:37
