As I say, I'm going to try to live by:

'Don't sweat the small stuff'.

I'd like to see hundreds of others and see what other people base their lives/sanity on.

So list them here!

Recently it's been JFDI (just f*ing do it!). Only bit of work speak I've ever adopted.

Pinkjenny · 22/08/2008 13:39

More paragraphs than catchy mottos, but mine are:

"In 20 years time, you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked."

AND

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, red wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, 'Woo hoo, what a ride!' "

Never do anything you think will make you feel ashamed.

"On my deathbed, I doubt I'll be thinking 'I wish I'd spent more time at work' or 'I wish I'd had a cleaner house'"

"Just keep swimming" - dory

hellish · 22/08/2008 14:07

Keep passing the open windows

maidamess · 22/08/2008 14:10

Mine is 'Trust your instinct'

On the occasions when I have ignored said instinct, I have ballsed up on a major scale.

Cancel and continue.

Told to me by an actor about being on stage, very useful also for life.

The best things in life are not things

G2B · 22/08/2008 15:34

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

My late nana used to say that and it's true.

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans

georgiemum · 22/08/2008 16:12

My dad always used to say 'there's no such thing as a bad decision - you make the best one for you at that time'. I think he really meant 'don't drive yourself nuts over things you can't change'.

beansprout · 22/08/2008 16:14

Everyone else is doing their best too.

LongDroopyBoobyLady · 22/08/2008 16:18

Life's not fair, get used to it!

LittleBella · 22/08/2008 16:22

I like

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

MKG · 22/08/2008 16:22

Regret is a useless feeling. Move forward and don't dwell on what you can't change.

blackcoffeenosugar · 22/08/2008 16:25

what goes around comes around

GentleOtter · 22/08/2008 16:27

My favourite is from a Friesian saying which translates as:
"What can bother you when you're having a good hair day".

Pablop · 22/08/2008 16:31

Turn that frown upside down

choosyfloosy · 22/08/2008 17:57

Hope is never destroyed (well, it may not be true, but it's what I live by).

Love yours, beansprout

Life is not what happens to you but what you make out of it.

Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean. (Maya Angelou)
