As I say, I'm going to try to live by:

'Don't sweat the small stuff'.

I'd like to see hundreds of others and see what other people base their lives/sanity on.

So list them here!

"If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room" That was my DH's and I've adopted it.
I always used to like "Some motherf**s are always trying to ice-skate uphill" not really so much a life motto but it always makes me smile . . . .
The one I always seem to say to everyone and I suppose I do live by is "Does it really matter" The answer always generates the appropriate action.

It isn't true that "manners cost nothing".

A story here involving a bit of a motto...

I remember once when I was about 21 I was at a beautiful outdoor centre on the Isle of Skye attending a leadership course and I was being bullied by a girl there (because I was making the most of the course and she was being like a sulky teen) One day after she pushed me on the way down the stairs I was upset and a member of staff found me and I had a really good talk with him - later he discreetly slipped a piece of paper to me. I opened it up and it was a 'with compliments' slip from the centre and he had written the following on the back:

To Schneebly

"Great spirits will always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein

from Brad (he was Canadian)
x

I still have the piece of paper folded up in my purse because it meant so much to me at that moment in time and I am just wating to pass the quote on to someone else

G2B · 22/08/2008 11:37

I really like that one!! Some belters are coming out now.

Aww Schneebly that's really lovely.

I love

"Dance like there's nobody watching
Love like you'll never get hurt
Sing like there's nobody listening
Live like it's heaven on earth
And speak from the heart to be heard".

medogsarebarking · 22/08/2008 11:41

Oh! and

"don't travel through life on the 'if only' express"...

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 22/08/2008 11:48

keep calm and carry on

funnypeculiar · 22/08/2008 11:59

Mine is sung, and it goes...
"Doctor Pepper, what's the worst that can happen?"

Basically don't sweat the small stuff but with American upbeat

UpSinceCrapOClock · 22/08/2008 12:00

An old ex of mine always used to say 'Why have a 6-pack when you can have a full keg?' which I used to think really funny.

Generally I like the 'bugger it, life is too short' philosophy for a lot of things.

Some really quotes on here though

VictorianSqualor · 22/08/2008 12:05

Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Also am nearly always saying to DP 'Is it really an issue?'

UpSinceCrapOClock · 22/08/2008 12:06

Oh and 'don't fart above your arsehole' if someone is being a bit too arrogant (can't remember where I heard that though)
