The police now have a pro-arrest policy and the CPS can decide to prosecute even if the victim does not want to press charges. So through your help you have probably saved her from furture attacks (well at least until the case comes to court). You definitely did the right thing.

Aimsmum i would report the phone tampering to the local trading standards office and any organisations that have awarded stars/diamonds etc to this place.

To do that is incrediably dangerous, as if a small child will know to call the manager if event of a fire when they have been told to dail 999

I can totally understand why you would be thinking about the woman though, it would pray on my mind too. All you can do is hope that the guy who did this to her gets prosecuted. She may well have been kept in hospital too if her injuries were that bad

He holds his finger over her windpipe so she can't scream and he took her clothes? I think that is one of the most horrific things I have ever heard. It's terrible that someone can do that to another person, let alone someone you are supposed to love. Poor, poor woman.

As for the B&B owner, let the local tourist board know he disconnected an emergency payphone. Also, ring the local TS office - they might be able to do anything, but they will be able to point you in the right direction as where you can report this man's foolish and dangerous actions.

aimsmum you should be proud, it takes a lot for women to get out of these situations, yes, but they have to start somewhere and often that's with someone outside taking an interest.
