Christ. Poor poor woman. What kind of life must she have?

edam · 07/10/2008 20:47

too scared to get away from him, presumably. Men like this work very hard to separate their victims from family and friends, convince them that they are powerless and have no choice but to stay. And women blame themselves - if only I hadn't put too much salt in his dinner, he wouldn't have got so cross... I gather, anyway. Fortunately have no first-hand experience and devoutly hope I never do.

The magistrates are appalling. They should know full well how domestic violence works - they had any opportunity to save this woman's life. Instead, they've given the criminal the opportunity to kill her.

aimsmum, you still did a very good deed. Leaving a violent relationship is a gradual process - she may find it easier to take the next step, now that you have opened teh can of worms for her.

the daughters may also be caught up in the web of lies/control spun by the guy.

edam · 07/10/2008 22:02

That's very true, Aimsmum, you did the right thing and it may just have given her a tiny element of hope. I just wish the poor woman could get free of him.

a big part of the violent abuse thing is persuading the woman that the abuse is right and justified.

hopefully now she will have got an outside view on that subject, and realise that it is not how he says.

this is why I live in germany. ex h tried it on here a couple of times, and they came down on him like a ton of bricks.
In the UK, I rang the police several times, and got......a reference number.
