Ciao , Hello , Welcome .

francagoestohollywood · 04/09/2008 15:48

granta.

I'll post a few titles I have next week, we are going to the country now. I have a terrible cold, I feel like curling up in bed.

Sputnik · 04/09/2008 15:49

I quite like the idea of it being quite random and getting to read stuff I wouldn't otherwise.

There are a couple of book circle threads on here. I think they each send out a book which then gets sent round to everyone in the circle.

francagoestohollywood · 04/09/2008 15:54

sounds good sputnik.
right, I'm off. later

Brangelina · 04/09/2008 16:09

Sputnik · 04/09/2008 21:39

Hope you start feeling better soon Gio. If you need that number just email me at sputnikinspace at gmail.com

I don't really enjoy reading in Italian either Rosa.

Rosa · 05/09/2008 07:43

Gio glad you made a start anyway and when you feel up to it get in the system as it will be easier next time you have anything ....( Not wishing you ill of course!)
Hope the cream and drugs work - maybe gyne can prescribe something stronger.
I am having a farfalle battle again. Stuck the sticky things up last night and over night they have caught 10. Inside my cupboards I have alloro ( sp) and every dry thing is in a container. I can't find evidence of the shells or threads anywhere oh well thats this afternoons job then.
Tihs am might go and buy a decent fridge freezer as I want a 'proper size' freezer not just a big box thing I want to pre cook before No2 arrives ...( Rosa has saintly expression!)

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 05/09/2008 09:50

Gio I hope you are feeling better today already. Didn't they give you antibiotics as well? Aulin is a godsent btw (I know it's controversial), I had really bad stiff neck 2 weeks ago (couldn't literally move) and after 2 aulins I started to feel much better.

I'd go to your local asl when you are back from the UK and see if you can get the temporary asl card with gp. I went through the same thing in the UK as I got ill (I had a pelvic infection) and didn't have a gp. I went to the A&E where they were quite useless (but then in my ignorance I didn't know I should have gone to the maternity unit, where they have the gyn dept), then I went to london to see a private ob-gyn, that costed an occhio della testa. Then at last I got my first apt with lovely gp, who solved the whole problem...

Sorry, that was long

Rosa & Sputnik, no worries I'll send out only books in English. Maisy anyone ?

Brangelina · 05/09/2008 23:02

Gio, what a nightmare! I hope you got it sorted. As someone else said earlier, you must get your temporary ASL card, or even your residency sorted, asap. I was also "clandestina" for a year before getting a proper Italian job and I remember the stress involved in getting anything done. Is what you have like an abscess? I once got given a brilliant pomata that smelt like catrame but drew the pus out (sorry if tmi) but I suspect it's not the kind of thing you want on your fanny, plus you do go around smelling like roadworks for a few days.

Rosa, if only you knew! Some days if I'm working from home I don't bother getting dressed at all and mnet with my laptop peched on my naked thighs.
Have you got those sticky anti farfalle things on your cupboard doors then? I haven't dared put any up, in case I find a swarm of the buggers attached. I've managed to convince myself that they've decamped but still obsessively check everything for worms or coccoons, especially if it smells a bit musty. Having said that, the alloro (or lavender or whatever) doesn't actually kill them but is supposed to stop them mating by intercepting their pheronomes or whatever, so they can't lay eggs in your prime produce. Therefore the fact you still have the grown farfalle possibly means nothing (she says hopefully).

Gosh that was long. On that note, I think I'll go to bed.

Rosa · 06/09/2008 12:30

Gio how did you get on ???
Franca are you feeling any better?
Humidity is up to 80% I have had enough and do not want to play anymore I am knacker*d.
I am really starting a hate of this place.
Yes I have those sticky things but what is more annoying is that they must have or are breeding somewhere. All my dry stuff is in containers last year they were in an angle of my cupboards and you could see. There is no evidence of them in there I have scrubbed out and checked everything - and thrown out lots. Last night I made sure the cupboard was shut and hey ho 5 more dead ones. Well today they win I have to empty dd bedroom in an attempt to get it ready for the new one- So much for relaxing as doc said..........

OP posts:
Sputnik · 06/09/2008 13:50

Plenty of farfalline here too.
I have been in my underwear for the last 2 months, saves on washing. But I do at least have my pants on.

Still really hot isn't it? Rosa I feel for you, I used to get very hot when pg, DH used to say he didn't need the heating on in the bedroom.

I met another mum from DDs school today, who told me they start back on the 15th, so I've been saved the embarassment of turning up with DD all done up in her grembiule at an empty school next week.

Rosa · 06/09/2008 16:56

I don't have many clothes at the mo so have to wander in a t shirt - After shifting beds and doing bob the mover etc bump was not happy so I put on those huge pants with the band in that supports your back and tummy - she protested even more thumping the band so took em off pronto well hurrah another Eu28 wasted at Prenatal. Also found my past mat bras - they are now sitting in napisan but think I might have to replace them as well.
Elementare here starts the 15 as well it seems just the asili start on the 8th- and not all due to inserimento.
Very slight breeze ( bliss) but its still too effin hot !!!!!!!!!!!

Feel loads better thanks. Yesterday I rang and spoke to the the gyno had appt with today as was still feeling so rough and he told me straight away had def got an infection and told me what abs to take, started to feel better in a matter of hours. went today and he was great, on abs for another week then have to go and get it removed on 20th. Dont mind waiting now doesnt hurt!
Rosa heat is driving me insane too and I'm not pregnant! I feel for you. There has been a real sirocco blowing over the last few days, its like stepping into a tumbler dryer to go outside!

francagoestohollywood · 07/09/2008 10:24

Si the caldo is unbearable, what the hell is going on? it is usually so pleasant in september.
My cold has miracolously gone, I'm now left with a red and sore nose.
Ds is starting school tomorrow... bless him, he said he's looking forward to learning everything about history... well, first he'll have to learn to read

francagoestohollywood · 07/09/2008 10:24

gio, glad you are feeling better!

Rosa · 07/09/2008 15:41

Oh tremble legs I am taking dd to nido - well its nido asilo as well. I know 1st 3 days are 1 hr with me or dh there and then I guess I start leaving her for an hour at a time slowly building up. We have a reunion on Thurs at 3 pm but dd will be asleep so only 1 of us will go. Brang ( KLP) how did you get on at your materna meeting ?
Good for your ds wanting to learn history bless !
Gio good that things are looking a bit better I hope you get your ASL stuff sorted just incase you need anything again - honestly do not feel like a Clandestina I did not pay tax in Italy for a large while and I was in a pretty obvious job!!! I am so relieved that I got it sorted as then I had a nasty ear infection !!!
Blimey today humidity is terrible ...Veged on sofa for 2 hrs too hot to sleep should thunder but doesn't look like it.

It's hard isn't it Rosa, but I'm sure she'll enjoy it. I'm already feeling a bit funny about leaving DS at the nursery next month, and he's not even my PFB. But it just occured to be it's going to be very quiet.

Glad you're feeling better Gio

This humid heat is awful isn't it, it rained for about 5 minutes today, then that was it. It's supposed to improve a bit soon.

Brangelina · 07/09/2008 20:54

DD's first day of inserimento tomorrow, she's so excited but then I'm not sure she realises what it entails. We were quite lucky, DD is in the first wave of inserimento (some others have to wait until the week of the 22nd) and she's in amixe class with 5yos.

Don't worry Rosa about your DD, she'll be just fine. It is quite heart rending leaving then at the beginning but then when you realise just how much you can get done you begin to appreciate it. Don't overdo it too much now, get some rest!

Gio, glad you are better. Will this be the spur to make you sort your ASL out? It took a motorbike crash (luckily not serious) for me to pull my finger out. Doesn't your DS's residency depend on where you have yours? If so, you'll need that sorted before he goes to asilo or even for other things, as I found out. I nearly missed out on Berlusca's 1000 euro bonus because I hadn't bothered changing my residenza from where I'd lived years before. Me and burocrazia just don't get on.

Lovely breezy day today, unfortunately we were stuck at home as it looked so unpromising this morning that we decided not to go to Lecco. Of course when the sun came out it was too late. Been doing this the last few days, it's getting quite irritating. Not as bad as the shite weather everyone's having in the UK but still...

Brangelina · 07/09/2008 20:56

Lol at the desire to learn history! Does he have a specific period or is it just generic for the moment? Have you had to buy books and stuff for prima elementare or just the zaino?

Sputnik · 07/09/2008 21:00

It took 15 years and a pregnancy for me to sort myself out with the ASL

I am lucky I'm quite healthy really!

hotHELL · 07/09/2008 21:19

Just popping in to say hello to you all, weaned myself off teh computer a bit, had to with dp working from home and shouting if i am hanging around doing nothing on the computer!!!!
Rained all weekend here, e io che pensavo che ci sarebbe stata un'estate di san martino.
Cannot believe i will have a baby in 2 weeks plus, the whole idea seems weird.

Brangelina · 07/09/2008 21:45

Blimey Sputnik, 15 years. That beats even my great lengths of procrastination

Welcome back Hot! tell your DP not to be so rude, you need to put your feet up! Or are you going to get your revenge when the baby comes and not get up for 6 weeks?

francagoestohollywood · 07/09/2008 21:47

Just 2 weeks hothell! How exciting! I can't help but feeling sad whenever someone is weaning off the pc, as I miss them. We haven't talked about bevilacqua for ages .

Brangelina, ds has already gone through various stages: knights and castles, the french revolution, ww1 and ww2. A bit of ancient Rome. Mix up in a big big mess, where he hasn't got a very clear idea of time and space . At the moment he is into mountains. boh.

Rosa, dd is going to be fine, especially with a long and planned inserimento . I still remember the sense of "apprehension" I felt the first times I left mine at nursery... and I'm feeling tense as we speak for tomorrow... (and I felt really stressed when ds started primary in Exeter...). oh dear I'm a worrier
