Hi all

i just wanted to post a BIG thank you to all you mums out there! i am of course initiating myself into the mind field of child modelling... my son was accepted by BK, BS, ES and MODELS DIRECT!!! after reading the threads on this subject i am so thankful that i did not part with the joining fee, i feel like ive dodged a bullet with that one. after reading all your advice to others i have now reapplied to the big 4 agencies and await responses from them..... any clues as to which one is the best at the moment for 16 month old boys???

totallyfloaty35 · 16/05/2008 13:00

Hi Yummy, all the big 4 are gd,KL and BB do lots of high end fashion, U/A do high fashion and a fair bit of tv.MOT do tv and lots of standard stuff, catalogues, kids mags etc.

yummymummy2008 · 16/05/2008 14:28

thanks floaty - that helps, just need to wait the wait now and hope i make the right decision......when you say high end does that mean better paid jobs??!!!!!

liahgen · 16/05/2008 17:38

lol, not necessarily high end, higher pay, anyone who has done junior will tell you that!!

My ds did Vogue wedding and was paid £150 for the whole day!! Lovely pics yes, and we were told the rate, our choice but makes you laugh eh?
Other ds did Boots, 6 hours and was paid £135 per hour. He was prob in front of the camera for an hour total.

totallyfloaty35 · 16/05/2008 18:40

so true, the better the mag the worse the pay.Lots of lovely jobs for M and S,Boots etc is what you want for money, for the gorgous pics you do Junior,Vogue,Colleczione and such like

The woman who runs KidsLondon has stopped us three times now (her business is down the road) and asked us to send in photos of dd.

Have not done so because not sure about how much hanging about and missing school she'll have to do (in Yr1). Also, do they make you pay for photos? Is it a reputable company?

brooke77 · 19/05/2008 13:03

Does anyone know which agencies are good for older kids? Looking to get my ds signed.. he's now 12. Used to be with SW till age of 9, then took a sabbatical ! Many thanks

brooke77 · 19/05/2008 13:08

Scarlet.. KL is an excellent and highly reputable agency. Well done to your dd for being spotted ! If your dd was accepted, I think you can submit your own photos for their website.

Rubystar77 · 19/05/2008 23:19

hi, deb- she said u was chatting so didn't get chance and think she got caled in straight away.. will mail u when i get chance..

well done for your daughter getting spotted , thats great....
x

ScarletA · 20/05/2008 13:40

Can I ask you ladies what child modelling actually involves? dd and ds have done the odd job but with their dad (sometimes model) and through an agency that his friend runs so it wasn't like 'proper' modelling. One job though I had to go to Lambeth council (our borough) and submit photos and get permission from school etc for the morning off dd had to have... was a real pain and the school said no too (understandably!). I am not at all keen to do all that again - especially having dd miss school. Is that common, for kids to miss school?

mummyeme · 20/05/2008 16:13

ScarletA,
I think all modelling jobs are held in school hours, and for them you need to have a license form the council (that involves a doctors certificate and permission from the head to take part in modelling). Castings for school age children for the most part are held out of school hours. Hope that helps.

Rubystar,
Welcome back, great to see your name again. Please email me if you can (dancerdeb has my email address - if thats ok Dancerdeb).
Changed agents and dds doing really well now, casting every couple of weeks at the moment- so definitely not complaining!

Hope it's going really well for everyone, Jazz have you heard anything yet? bet you're on tenter hooks.

Good luck everyoneX

tinkerbellchelle · 20/05/2008 16:46

Hello I used to post ages and ages ago - my little boy is with bubblegum but apart from a couple of castings a long while back we've had nothing. I have applied to some other agencies and decided if they say no then we will just forget it for now.
We had an email saying he was on shortlist for UA but received one saying NO a few days later.
Have been invited to Rascals - anyone any experience of these?
Also have written to B&B and Kids London. I've a couple of pics on my profile

Is there anyone around who may remember my name - its been such a long time

lanismum · 20/05/2008 16:51

Tinkerbelle, I remember you
your ds has got so big, hes lovely, I hope you hear back from kids or B&B!

totallyfloaty35 · 20/05/2008 16:53

hi tink,i remember you have you tried the elliott brown agency in oxford or mot junior? my dd is on the shortlist for u/a how long after did you get a no? was it recently? i have not heard from them for 2 weeks. Your ds is lovely,a change of agent can sometimes make all the difference

tinkerbellchelle · 20/05/2008 17:00

Hiya Totally & Lanismum !!! Remember you both
Totally...We heard heard from UA the day of closing.... so fingers crossed if you've not heard for your DD that they will be wanting to see her

Im just starting to wonder if maybe to just leave it - maybe he isnt " right " for the modelling world.

Are rascals normally at castings? Are they well know? Need to wait to hear from B&B and Kids... maybe should apply to MOT aswell.

Its nice to be back on here And with some familiar faces aswell x
Hope your both well

mummyeme · 20/05/2008 17:17

Hi,
Tinkerbel, Don't be too disheartened by u/a even if you get to the photoshoot they only take a small percentage from there. And in my experience I've known much nicer agencies. Rascals are really good and Julie4's said ahe seen a lot of their kids at castings. Scallywags have a good reputation too. Have seen bubblegum at a casting last week and also Kitschkids (who are relitively new but definitely finding the work)
Have you tried NCA, dd had zilch from bk but went back to NCA and she's had a lot from them so a change of agent can be a great thing. Definitely try MOT too.
Good luck

JAZZ4494 · 20/05/2008 17:37

Mummyeme, unfortunately i still have'nt heard a thing from KL, i am willing for the phone to ring. I wonder how much longer we will have to wait for a casting. I just hope they have'nt accepted her, but she's got lost in amongst all the popular girls her age. I would like to call them, but i'm a bit of a wimp and worried about what to say.

Tinkerbellchelle your little boy is so scrummy, he's got a lovely face.

mummyeme · 20/05/2008 19:28

Hi Jazz,
Don't worry I'm sure you'll hear in time. Try your best to put it to the back of your mind and when you least expect the phone will ring, certainly thats what I've found. Fingers crossed it'll be soon.

totallyfloaty35 · 20/05/2008 19:43

jazz,my 10yr old dd has been with KL for a year, she has had 1 job and 3 castings, nothing at all for monthes though and i find them quite hard to talk to.
