What's the 1st thing you'd buy if you won 10 million on the lottery

OP posts:
AutumnCrow · 14/04/2024 23:29

I'd buy me some machiavellian justice.

AnotherEmma · 14/04/2024 23:32

I would buy a house but couldn't do that immediately... I don't know what I would buy first, probably something a bit mundane and something I'd usually buy, as you'd have to let the news sink in before you get your head around being able to buy whatever you want!
However, it wouldn't take me long to buy a Tern GSD (very specific I know Grin)

fridaynight1 · 14/04/2024 23:38

Me and DH would be off to Stratstone to pay cash for an Aston Martin. We would of course rack up in our normal Clampett attire.

Thought of another one - well, two actually, a robot hoover and a Philips Lumea. Both things I could afford to buy now, but I'm not entirely convinced about the efficacy of either, so I'm not willing to buy until the cost is irrelevant.

I have both. Robot vacuum worth every penny, Phillips Lumea not so much!

AnotherEmma · 14/04/2024 23:49

As for the very first things. Bottle of champagne and no-expense-spared takeaway for me and DH (couldn't go out for dinner without notice to get a babysitter). The next day I'd take my kids to John Lewis and buy them everything they asked for!

I bought a robovac 2 weeks ago. It's bloody fantastic!

First a Chinese takeaway to enjoy whilst we sit and book a fabulously luxurious holiday for about a weeks time. I’d spend the next week paying off all our debts and buying what I need for said holiday but wouldn’t go mad as I’d probably want to get a PT when I get back, get fitter and buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes. On the holiday we’d sit and discuss what we want to do with the money. Likely be a lovely home where we live and a property abroad a short flight from home.

CadyEastman · 16/04/2024 08:24

Actually I think the very first thing I'd buy is new phones for us all.

BiddyPop · 16/04/2024 09:07

Probably a solar generator, a sailing boat, a cottage on a couple of acres with a stream and some trees, and a physiotherapist at my beck and call to deal with my crocked back and shoulders (2 whiplashes 13 months apart 15 years ago have wrecked those forever).

CadyEastman · 16/04/2024 10:31

And probably a new kettle as our definitely thinks that bringing the water to boiling point is optional Grin

Newestname002 · 24/04/2024 10:11

Buy a luxury three bedrooms, 2 bathroom fully serviced apartment with wrap around balcony and own utility room and walk in pantry in central Wimbledon within very easy walking distance of all the facilities. I'd also have my own personal assistant and housekeeper to deal with all the day to day crud I currently deal with. A girl can dream... 🌹

A house in Cornwall near enough to the sea that I can actually hear it as well as see it !
A house within 3 or so miles of the area I already live in - Devon
A house in London - sadly it will be the most expensive purchase coz of London prices, but I could go small :)

A business for my dd.

and very first thing would be a new phone for dd, and a nice handbag or two for dd.

and a 1st class stamp
( for the Basildon Bond envelope and sheet of notepaper that my letter of resignation will be written on.)

festivallove · 24/04/2024 10:41

A house for DD and GS immediately. They so deserve their own home

A hamster.

My son who has learning difficulties has been wanting one for years (and years!), he really wants a friend but struggles making friendships at school. Unfortunately a pet is just an expense we haven't been able to budget even more so with the col increase.

So that would be our first purchase - we'd probably go to our local rspca who currently have an influx of baby hamsters! 😍

sashh · 25/04/2024 12:03

The local off licence has 2 shelves of different whiskies. I have said more than once that is what I would buy first.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 25/04/2024 12:46

@BigTipTop

When the day comes, you may decide against a hamster. They are largely nocturnal so like playing on their wheel etc. in the early hours of the morning and sleep thru the day.
Tho when the day does come, you can always ask for advice, maybe gerbils are not so nocturnal ? or even a guinea pig or a rabbit.

sorry. I don't mean nor want to ruin anyone's hopes.

Droolylabradors · 25/04/2024 12:53

Book a full consultation with a holistic nutritionist.
And then go home from work early because I'm knackered and have got awful gynae pain every day and I'm exhausted by it. So COOK for tea!

Ilovemyshed · 25/04/2024 13:06

A new car and a new driveway.

How would your DS react to a cat?

I used to foster for Cat's Protection. You get a cat (sometimes two) and you have all the fun bits of feeding and playing with them. CP pay for the food, vet visits and litter.

The downsides are that they have to be indoor cats and you have to deal with the litter. They do go on to permanent homes, but you know that at the start.

decionsdecisions62 · 26/04/2024 05:55

Buy myself my early retirement. Buy houses for my two girls.

Silkymum · 26/04/2024 06:36

My house, Invisalign

LaraCooper · 26/04/2024 19:55

Anyone playing the euromillion today?

Oh wow I didn't know this - we've been saying for a while it's a shame we can't share a pet. This is amazing to know I'm going to research into this tonight thank you! Xx

Pay off all debt
Pay off mortgage
Finish house renovation
Put kids in private school if they wanted to move
Take kids on amazing holidays/sight seeing

10 mil would be too much - I'd give lots to charity and people close to me.
