I didn't understand what that meant at first!
The conversation I was about to have when I picked up the phone that day was supposed to be sooooo different. I was prepared for that conversation because I made notes after last nights conversation. This conversation (taken in a meeting room at work, around 2pm, PRE-LOCKDOWN) was supposed to include no babies...
We have a 4 year old boy and have just had a baby girl who was 1 years old in July 20.
... This conversation was always going to be sad, heart-breaking and soul destroying but I expected it and we discussed it, planned it and prepared for it...

She called me coming out of the clinic saying she can't do it... Its TWINS!

Congrats - you will now need to buy a people carrier.

(Sounds like the first page of a book. A book I'd be curious to read more. )

This, for me, is going to be my outlet because I need one. I have never done anything like this before i'm a 40 year old man!!! Old school!! I'm down with the gadgets, latest tech and all that but feelings, emotions, energys and family politics run my world at the moment and I really don't think there are many people out there who get it! Im sorry if I offend but I don't care really... I just put a baby down to rest because she woke up INSTANTLY.... I said INSTANTLY after her twin sister nodded off! What a coincidence eh? My 4 year old wakes up, comes down stairs, charges through the door and shouts DADDY!!! Both babies wake up screaming... he starts crying... I thought I would have at least 1-2 hours of peace which is why I had a cheeky wiskey (Im an adult), turns out that was about 8 mins... My better half charges down the stairs to find out whats going on, obviously! I haven't even had time to react... I just watch it all unfold in front of me. 3 Children/Babies screaming & 1 Concerned Mummy all ready for action. I always find a funny so I said well at least one of them is still sleeping!!! Everyone goes slient for 1 second as the baby monitor crys!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! That is what you call a FULL HOUSE!!! (The time is 5.56)
... first thing she said was... "HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING!"

She called you coming out of the clinic? You weren’t at the ‘clinic’ with her? Hmm

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:12

Whilst My Better Half was in hospital, 7 Days, I couldn't even see them because of the restrictions at the moment. I decided to get the 7 Seater (Outlander)... What a SUV!! Needed though... We couldn't all go out the house together unless we had a bigger car! or loads of stuff actually.... Logistically 4 kids under 4 gets a bit tricky when going somewhere (or anywhere). To be honest we discussed, planned and almost brought the car a few months before the arrivals, so my suprise reveal of the car at the hospital didnt go down as well as I thought it would.

Have you been drinking, OP?

Tashface · 09/10/2020 06:22

Please, keep going Grin

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:23

No I was working, and she didnt want me to come or I would have. I knew eveything that was gonna happen and waitied impatiently to console her, I booked a restaurant that night just incase. I was leaving work early as well with flowers the whole shabang! We only found out about 2 or 3 days before so it was a big ask for her that day and she wanted to get on with! I was ok with that and ready for damage control. She was about 2/3 months so that was always going to be difficult... but discussed!

Definitely on the sauce

BorisandHarriet · 09/10/2020 06:26

@Inthebleakmidwinteriwouldsing I went to my early scan without my husband when I found I was having twins. That was years ago. As for the rest of the OPs drivel I am not sure 🙄

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:27

That is obviously a trick question... I start work.... from home at 9am... after doing the TWIN night shift... of course i have!
I should be drinking alot more to be honest... Some times i'm at my computer in the kitchen (pretending to do work) and hear 3 babies crying and think... dont make eye contact with anyone!!!!

Sounds like someone is practicing their writing...not particularly well.

IBook · 09/10/2020 06:31

Is this fictional?

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:32

@BorisandHarriet Amazing! Congrats for surviving so long!!! Have you got any other children? How old are your twins now?

FourPlasticRings · 09/10/2020 06:32

I should be drinking alot more to be honest...

I disagree. Sounds like you're drinking plenty already!

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:41

@ThreePipeProblems; @IBook Are you kidding me!!!? Writing was never one of my favorite things to do... ever! but for some reason i'm quite good at typing. I got loads going on and cant capture it quickly enough... I brought a GO Pro and got loads of footage... So that means I need to spend time going over my own footage and editing... blah, blah, blah! Im a dad that needs to express him self and I dont know how to! It's not like I have bitten off more than I can chew because ..... I AM MAN!!! I have to be... At any point i may have to protect my family and that will happen!

I'm so confused...

p0ptart · 09/10/2020 06:44

Have you got twins already or are you expecting them? Your posts refer to both.

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:49

Interesting! I think your missing the point. If I had more TIME I would happily have more to drink. Just because!!! To be honest I think they heard me open the bottle which is why they decided to perform... or maybe it was a coincidence!!?

But why was your 4 year old asleep at 5.50? And why were you hoping for nap time at that time?

Are there bulls nearby? I can certainly smell them.

DaddyTimeNow · 09/10/2020 06:59

@Tashface Thank you... I wasnt sure about exposing myself like this but I think I actually need a bit of mental or social support!
