Another Mumsnetter Waves Goodbye

I came to MN to find friendship, an enjoyable way of passing the time, and support for my depression and suicidal feelings. What I often find now when I switch on my PC is spiteful comments, MNers being aggressive and confrontational, and finding that you can't even post a politely worded opinion without someone hurling themselves down your throats. There are now thread titles that I won't even open because I know that people will be bitching and sniping, and I find this very sad. I have actually sat in tears this afternoon because of certain posts that I've seen, and this is not how I want to feel when I come to Mumsnet.

This is not what I want from a site which should to be friendly and supportive, so I have decided that now is the time to leave. You won't miss me, of course - most of you won't even have noticed that I've been around! - but I just wanted to say thank you to all of those people who have supported me through my recent bad patch. Thank you for your concern and for everything you have said to make me feel better.

yep you were right andre, sorry, october

Thunderbird1 · 11/10/2004 21:56

I got my wrists slapped on the other thread for trying to get all to cool down - it made me walk away from the PC for a while. I saw the funny side of the original post - but others didn't - thats why some people get the hump !! Lets keep it simple so we can all keep up !!

ROFL Becca- especially at you cocking up by forgetting to change your name.

Beccarollover · 11/10/2004 22:07

Jimjams - it wasnt nice whilst it lasted believe me!!!

Everyone slating me and I couldnt post back or coddy would kill me lol

MUMINAMILLION · 11/10/2004 22:08

Tracy - please, please, please don't go!!! [pleading and grovelling very low emoticon]. You have been wonderful to talk to - very supportive and a lovely person.

Yes, there are people on here who can be a little thoughtless at times - even to me!!!!!! (I know, hard to believe isn't it?) I did storm off in a tear fuelled temper a few days ago, but have since calmed down and my addiction is taking hold again. You have had an awful lot to contend with lately - and being the kind of person you are, you do care about others. It is upsetting when you think that some people are been unjustifiably attacked. But at the same time, this site is a wonderful place for help, comfort and support. How about just staying with us on the Feeling Low board - it would be a huge loss if you left. I would miss you hugely. Please? And if you need to talk, please CAT me.

MTS (have you gone back to previous name now?) - shall we set up a mutual admiration society?

krocket · 11/10/2004 22:14

what is going on? I am so confused. who is who? and who is leaving and why are they leaving? very odd

MummyToSteven · 11/10/2004 22:15

Hi MIAM, yes I went back to the original name in the end. Just liked it better; these funky acronyms aren't for everyone, after all. I do feel it is a real shame that a jokey thread seems to have upset Tracey P further. Possibly feelings are running a little high atm, so not everyone would see the funny side?

Heathcliffscathy · 11/10/2004 22:16

traceyp is leaving (but hopefully has been persuaded to stay by this thread). cod is jane. becca is not a troll. spacemonkey and lou33 are morcombe and wise. andre previn is about. have i missed anything?

JoolsToo · 11/10/2004 22:24

I'm in a complete fog (no change there then)!

is this thread in English - looks like Double Dutch to me?

Is Imelda Marcos back or not? WOTS GOING ON?!!!

kalex · 11/10/2004 22:28

TP, Please don't go. you are at a place where you can admit how you feel. I am not there yet, It helps to read you and MIAM and others talking, it really helps me find sense in the chaos that surrounds me, I am not brave enough to post about my darkest feelings, or accept the help that they bring. Honestly I propably don't feel I am worth the attenntion of other people.

Not even people I dont know,

PLEASE STAY, I WILL MISS YOU AND YOU FEEL THE SAME AS ME AND THEREFORE MAKE ME FEEL THAT I AM NOT GOING OFF MY HEAD.

And if I am. We are in it together

Please CAT me, coz I don't want to intrude

MUMINAMILLION · 11/10/2004 22:31

Possibly Mummytosteven - I havent seen the latest threads so cant really comment. But I think it should be remembered that when people post their opinions they have to bear in mind that they do not know the circumstances & current emotional state of the person they are replying to. When someones is having a very hard time, it is difficult to cope with unecessary cruel comments, even when unintended, and can put a person who is already down, even further in the depths of despair. I know that sounds a bit melodramatic, but none of us know what others are going through, or what they can cope with. Yes, this is a site where everyone has their own opinions and are completely in their rights to express them, but please can we do so with respect to one another and with a bit of fellow feeling? Being nice to one another is not a sign of weakness - rather shows strength of character.

agy · 11/10/2004 23:11

So, have I got this right? Coddy's promising to come
back again at some other point in time - as a troll? - again? !!!

Tortington · 12/10/2004 11:56

i have a complaint. when pissed off or storming off or talking about "another thread" can you be more specific as i always feel alienated. something like the "nasty thread" link would be very useful for those of us ( ok me) who take each thread individually - instead of being able to follow a subject and people from one thread to another.

there has been a lot of talk of mischief and trolls and trouble and nastyness, now i am here nearly everyday - and i have missed everyone ( or have i?)

be inclusive in the bitchiness/trolling/stomping.

ta much

SpringChicken · 12/10/2004 12:00

I am pretty much with you Custy - i always seem to miss the nasty threads and then wonder what the hell everyone is talking about the next as the threads have usually been deleted so i can't find out.
However, think i was smack back in the middle and the cause of this thread yesterday!

TraveyP and i had a disagrement about smoking at a kids party and having searched for other messages i think it must've been this that upset her! Oooops

dinosaur · 12/10/2004 12:01

I agree custy. now am going to have to spend ages looking for smoking thread. bolleaux.

carla · 12/10/2004 12:15

What upset TP? I really hope she hasn't left ... she was SOOOO funny. Remember her send-up of the Calpol troll?

SpringChicken · 12/10/2004 12:40

Sorry Dino - i just done what i hate others doing.
Here is the smoking thread

carla · 12/10/2004 12:48

Are you sure that's what it was? It didn't seem so very terrible to me
