Hello Mumsnet
YorkieHusband here. This is the first time I have been on here, although I have heard about it from my wife, Yorkiegirl.
For those of you that know, I was made redundant over the summer, and have just got a job at Marks and Spencers. Before I start my training next week, I have to do a bit of research on M&S. I am sure there will be some of you who hate M&S with a passion, but it would be helpful to me if we could try and keep this as positive as possible. No slanging matches if you please!
Anyway, I need to know what your favourite M&S product is and why. I hope lots of you reply to this and help me out!
Thank you very much
YorkieHusband

I love their new limited collections - so unlike anything they have done before, and the way they are laid out is much more appealing.

I have my eye on a few things but need to shift the last of my excess body weight first

I too like their knickers but don't tend to buy bras there as I have big knockers (although they are shrinking) so buy bras from Bravissimo or Rigby abd Peller!

Good luck with your new job

HUMPH! Just went to look for the Limited Collection on the website and it's down.

Tissy · 08/10/2004 11:28

OOh, yes...kids' food - dd LOVES the "oli" (ravioli)

soapbox · 08/10/2004 11:28

I'm so used to thinking of this as a mums forum - didn't mean to discuss the size of my knockers with you

jampot · 08/10/2004 11:28

Tissy - go look in your local store its much better to see it in the flesh as it were

Tissy · 08/10/2004 11:31

unfortunately the local store is rubbish (small, poor range to suit the local punters, of whom I'm not typical). I'll maybe get into Glasgow next weekend.

binker · 08/10/2004 11:33

Sushi
Ham and mustard sandwiches
those chocolate chip cookies from the bakery
the plain non-wired black bras
percy pigs (& friends)

binker · 08/10/2004 11:35

forgot to mention
pies - all kinds
children's chicken and tomato rice
the quick porrige
and the Swiss milk chocolate bars
high leg knickers (more colours would be nicer)

fairydust · 08/10/2004 11:39

M&S underwear for all three of us (me dh & 2.1/2 dd) the quality is super and feel lovely on.

Also love the kids range of story tapes and dress up costumes.

best of luck with your new job.

binker · 08/10/2004 11:42

could do better - boys clothes - hate all the crap David Beckham type stuff - want plain, good quality basics in GOOD colours - not sludgy old khaki !

prettybird · 08/10/2004 11:44

Tissy - Braehead has a large Limited Collection dispaly - and both Sauchihall Street and Argyle Street stock it.

binker · 08/10/2004 11:45

sorry - I keep remembering stuff
flowers are usually nice, but don't like the yellow extras and fern in with the freesias (always chuck tgose away)...
I bought red gerberas two weeks ago and they're still fresh and perky !
that's it YorkieHusband - good luck with the job !

anorak · 08/10/2004 11:49

I've got two favourites.

Double chocolate cheesecake, for obvious reasons

And lingerie, it's pretty, comfortable and lasts ages. Also compensates for a multitude of sins!

Avalon · 08/10/2004 11:49

Knickers - because they fit and wear well. I'm glad they went back to the separate sizes, ie, I'm a 16 and the 14-16 ones never fitted properly.

I don't buy any clothes in there because they're never long enough.

Tissy · 08/10/2004 12:00

thanks, prettybird, off to Braehead, asap, then!

marialuisa · 08/10/2004 12:09

Underwear for me and DD
Tights for me and dD

don't buy clothes for either of us there.

love the victoria sponge in the coffee shops, but why are the veggie kids lunch boxes complete with a jam sandwich??

Love their Aberdeen angus burgers and puddings.

Good for b'day presents (kids) paper and cards.

Donbean · 08/10/2004 12:33

Twinkie..me too....ice cravings..used to sit with ice cube tray and eat them like chocolates out of a chocolate box....they couldnt freeze in time for me....
M&S for christmas pressy nick nacks is brill. Honey and mustard pasta salad is yum and the fruit smoothies mmmmmmmmmmm

Ghosty · 08/10/2004 12:40

LOL @ soapbox ...

Knickers, knickers, knickers!
Have been in NZ for 2.5 years and the situation is getting quite desperate ... have not bought any underwear for that long except for Elle Macpherson breastfeeding bras ...
Only 8 months to go before I come to England and can restock my knicker drawer!!!

Oh, and nothing beats an M&S sarnie ...

Even people I meet here in NZ who have never been to England go on about M&S ...

Twinkie · 08/10/2004 12:42

Ooohhhh am going to have to nip to Neros or Starbucks and get a cup of ice now - nice men in there give it to me free as they can see the desperation in my eyes and that i might bash them if they don't!!

NomDePlume · 08/10/2004 12:42

Like the Per Una fashion range and also the undies

MrYamamoto · 08/10/2004 13:00

No favourite products but their returns policy for cloths is excellent.

turquoise · 08/10/2004 13:07

Creme catalina
Smoked salmon bagel
Pasta salad
Fizzy fish
Opaque tights

Hate the kids clothes, gave up on knickers years ago (theirs I mean ) but will give them a try if they're back to single sizes, and Per Una seemed to be aimed at 12 year olds last time I looked.

Best of luck with the job Yorkiehusband!

turquoise · 08/10/2004 13:09

Eeek - no offence to people who wear Per Una - I'm frumpy!

Blackduck · 08/10/2004 13:14

turqoise - sure you weren't looking a per duo (or whatever the new thing is called!) - that is certainly aimed at 12 year olds - and BTW should be banished immediately....
