ZombieLad gets married today. Hats on and champagne at the ready!

A week today he and ZombieLass arrive to spend Christmas with me. It will be the Best. Christmas. Ever.

There have been no miracles so my remaining days keep ticking away. Life is for living. Death is not to be feared. Wakes are for celebrating.

Zombie, long time lurker here but I hope you have a restful night and want to thank you so much for posting the wedding song for zlad's wedding - have never heard it before but found it beautiful and deeply moving. May have noted it for my two discussions (6&4) future weddings

BBB we are so far from straight we are a zig zag. Or festooned with rainbow flags marching in the Pride Day Parade. Or the crookedest crooked thing in Crooktown.

But we have a tree still undecorated and have bought a second car this weekend so all is not lost. It's -11 outside right now though so porch surfing will have to wait.... later in the week it's going to be a balmy -2 or so!!!

Zombie, a mainly lurker here, but best wishes to Zombie Couple for ever after... lovely picture, lovely people.

And I'm sure that though it's crap for you, they will be so pleased to be able to do whatever they can to help. It will feel good for them.

This may be completely inappropriate, but I found a nice sip of decent red wine made me happier with morphine. Don't know why, helped stomach, maybe I just noticed less? Spirits a disaster, but a sip of a cote de Rhone, or a lightish burgundy really helped. White just brought back metallic taste and was too acidic. Ribena didn't work... I expect you've done all this, just thinking vaguely festive...

And are you going to get fun out of planning the wake? DH has v v clear views after going to my Godfather's. Malt whiskies, choice if...Mulled wine if winter time. Has said I might need to do a run to Calais for the wine. Can't see any need for coffee..

GP appointment booked for 11.10 this morning. I must get the pain under control before the ZombieKids arrive on Friday morning.

I really hope that you can get a good result from your doc Zombie, so you can really enjoy Christmas with Mr and Mrs Zombie. Maybe it will just be a case of adjusting your meds to suit you better. Ooh not long to go now before your visitors will arrive !

I'm back.

The GP has started me on morphine patches. We're starting with the lowest dose patch. He advises that it can take a day or two for the steady supply of morphine to get into my system. While I'm waiting I'm to continue with the Oramorph - as much as I need to take. If, once the patch starts having an effect, I don't feel the pain relief is sufficient I'm to start using 2 patches. In any event I'm to top up with Oramorph as required.

The first patch is on and due to be changed on Thursday. I should know by then whether I need to replace it with 1 or 2 patches.

We also discussed nutrition and he has given me some information sheets. He doesn't recommend the usual dietary supplements as he says they are "frankly vile". So anyone coming to visit me is hereby put on notice that they are to come bearing milkshakes.

I favour a chocolate milkshake with a decent shot of Baileys in it... wonder how that goes with Morphine?
(otherwise a good old fashioned vanilla malted, laden with Ovaltine).

Mmmmm, Milkshakes! Oooh, and root beer freezes!

1/2 hard frozen vanilla ice cream and 1/2 ice cold root beer with a shot of rum. Even better if you have root beer syrup or flavouring & add a bit, it strengthens the root beer flavour.

Zombie I hope the patches do their thing and bring you some relief.
