Previous thread is HERE

Five years on from my first treatment, the options have pretty much run out.

Spears?! There will be spears?

I have haw gin. Or hawthorn gin. Or haw berry gin Confused
'tis pink.
And BETTER than sloe gin!!
I've not actually tried it yet. But it looks pretty

dazzlingdeborahrose · 29/11/2016 19:28

Oooooh the rhubarb gin is lovely. Goodness, ive just delurked on zombies thread. Been quietly following for a while. Is it wrong that I've been lured out in the open by talk of gin and cocktails? Why doesn't Mumsnet have a cocktail emoji? Mumsnet HQ, make it so!!

originalmavis · 29/11/2016 19:41

Sloe gin. Mmmmmmm. I want some now. M+S have some lemony gin (forget exactly what but it's got a swan on the label) and it's bloody lovely. Neat in a tumbler. Yummy.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 29/11/2016 19:52

Pacific description of Phalanx is tightly formed soldiers (steady) in a rectangle, carrying spears.

Hmm, maybe that should be a tightly formed rectangle of soldiers, haha, take your pick.

I always envisaged our phalanx in a circle with Zombie in the middle.

I added the fluttering flags cos we is girls innit.

Mummylin · 29/11/2016 20:43

I have forgotten what my job is now BBB !! I know I found us all our jobs in the circus Grin
Best of luck in your move tomorrow, at least you don't have to go far !! Hope it's a nice dry day too.

snowgeese · 29/11/2016 20:51

Another gin loving lurker here Zombie . Name changer ( that auto changed to chagger Shock ) Followed your journey and salute you and your phalanx . Grand chat and warmth . You take care now x
When in history did womankind think on pulling up the rhubarb yet again for crumble that gin would welcome its contribution ? She must have been very pissed off and made a reckless but valuable choice for the good of all.Flowers .Sod the pudding for once .

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 29/11/2016 20:54

Gin. Gin.
Send me gin.

Allalonenow · 29/11/2016 21:03

Haha, I remember one of my jobs was suitable music! Grin

So today's music is "Let's drink from the joyful cups" it's the brindisi (drinking song) from La Traviata....
All togther now!..... Wine Wine Wine

Evening all.

I've been fairly so haven't commented much but I have loved reading everyone else's. It's really cheered this old Zombie right up.

I have also been in a right tizz. Yesterday I received an appointment letter from the Royal Marsden Sutton for Friday morning at 09.30. I spent a lot of yesterday researching travel and accomodation options. It was quite depressing. No matter which option I might decide on it would involve travelling down on Thursday, spending 2 nights in a hotel and then travelling back on Saturday. I'm really not sure I currently have the stamina for that. I was seriously considering just cancelling the appointment.

Tonight I received a phone call from the Royal Marsden Chelsea. It looks as though I do qualify for their trial. They have offered me an appointment on Friday afternoon at 2.00. They will liase with the Sutton site to let them know I won't be attending there on Friday. A 2.00 appointment means I can catch the train down on Friday morning, stay in a hotel for one night only and return home on Saturday. That is something I do feel able to manage.

I am a relieved Zombie.

Please carry on with the party!

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 29/11/2016 21:29

Yay for trials.

Mummylin · 29/11/2016 21:35

That is fabulous news Zombie. If I lived near I would of offered to come with your for the two days, rather than you missed the appointment. So glad there is an alternative for you.
This is the most cheering news ( apart from Zombielads wedding ] for a few weeks isn't it.

PacificDogwod · 29/11/2016 21:38

Aw, Zombie, it's lovely when things conspire in your favour Smile

How many ruddy Royal Marsden are there? Confused
I hope they have something to offer you.

For no particular reason, please find attached pic of DHound working hard...

Potentialmadcatlady · 29/11/2016 21:43

Tell me to shut up and butt out but have you tried protein balls?? I read but haven't posted before but was wondering if they would help keep the poo situation on the move and get some good nutrients/calories into you? Esp if you have to do a bit of travel/journey...google them or I can give you my recipe if you want? They basically involve protein powder, apricots, dates, coconut, ground nuts, chia seeds...that sort of thing in yummy easy to eat little moist balls.......
Wish I could send you some gin- I have plum gin for Christmas in cupboard..

Mummylin · 29/11/2016 21:43

Your dog looks huge !! Is it half horse and half dog ?

PacificDogwod · 29/11/2016 21:48

Mummulin, he is a leggy greyhound, but not particularly huge for his species. The kids would like to ride him, mind... Grin
I think his back would snap right in half, skinny runt that he is though.

TheoriginalLEM · 29/11/2016 21:50

delurking to add my spears to the phalanx.

Also to say that someone started a thread asking about the time you jumped into your car to help a fellow mnetter. For me, that was one of the most memorable happenings on mnet.

Youve got balls!!

Blossomdeary · 29/11/2016 22:00

Dulcolax (Bisacodyl) - brilliant! -bliss! The rock of Gibraltar bites the dust! - worth a try! As Sir Thomas Beecham (he of the pills and the Albert Hall) used to say: "There is nothing like a good bowel motion." He was quite a wit: .......To an under-performing female cellist, “Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands – and all you can do is scratch it.”

Good for the Marsden and the trial - good luck with the appointment.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/11/2016 22:02

Awesome Zombie!! And just LOOK at all the lovely people on the thread!!!

In no particular order my favourite alcoholic drinks are:

Bubbly
Sloe gin
Tequila, esp Margaritas (on the rocks, none of this frozen malarkey)
Other gin
Bailey's
Vodka
Grand Marnier
Fancy cocktails with elderflower or cherry in

Wine and beer of course but that's like saying you like water Grin

iklboo · 29/11/2016 22:09

Evening all. Good news about the trial Zombie and much better times for you - especially trying to get hotels this time of year.

Lin - gin experience is booked for end of Jan. Seems it's rather popular. No stories in my head at the minute. One may pop in soon. I hope. I may bash out some poetry in the New Year. I wish I could find my folder of stuff I did years ago. Roger McGough liked one of them!

Fid - so glad you like the Strictly round up!
