Previous thread is HERE

Five years on from my first treatment, the options have pretty much run out.

Please join us for the rest of the journey. Doom and gloom is absolutely banned. There are still laughs and love to share and celebrate.

Had to be white/albino peacocks. What else would you have at a wedding?

Ah, ok, but surely only if the bride, or either bride Grin, is a virgin??

I felt a fraud in my ivory wedding gown.... Grin

PacificDogwod · 02/12/2016 22:56

I feel so inspired by this thread: next year there will be other fruits and other spirits, yum!

HerRoyalFattyness · 02/12/2016 22:58

If I ever get married (not likely) then I will wear white and not give 2 shits about the Virgin thing. Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/12/2016 23:08

Shock we weren't planning to fuck the peacocks

Allalone I made strawberry strega once, I think.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/12/2016 23:32

Blush Roses thanks.

What's sobraniesque so I can make sure I do it again.

Oh, the cocktail cigs?

PacificDogwod · 02/12/2016 23:35

we weren't planning to fuck the peacocks

Well, of course you weren't! Shock
That would be Wrong and Cruel. And Wrong. And Disturbing. And Wrong...

Off to bed I go.
I've had Bailey's, duty-free, the best kind

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/12/2016 23:37

Just wasn't sure why we needed to be virgins.

Am sure the peacocks weren't fussy Grin

HerRoyalFattyness · 02/12/2016 23:41

Shock peacocks are DDs favourite animal. She runs around shouting "PAH! PEACOCK! PAAAAAHHHH!"
Of course they must absolutely never have any sort of sex with anything as that would destroy my precious babies innocence. (Or something like that...I don't actually care. She's already seen the monkeys shagging)

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 03/12/2016 02:56

We favour giraffes chez Hearts. Peacocks scare me a little bit, like swans.

I am totally going to make gin as Christmas presents next year, that's an amazing idea. People don't do stuff like that much around here.

Somerville · 03/12/2016 08:43

Okay my face is like this at not being able to get married without (fucking??) white peacocks. Shock

My wedding is a month away and if livestock of any kind has to be involved then I'm cancelling!

And I'll be a bigger fraud than anyone in white, with my children there as bridesmaids and doing readings. Grin

OhTheRoses · 03/12/2016 09:25

I got married in white because I had my colours done and was advised to stay away from cream and ivory because they washed me out.

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 09:29

Oh, I loved my wedding dress!
I made the deliberate decision to not have a veil because I thought it would annoy me on the day and now I think it would have been nice Blush

No livestock at me wedding either - not even the release of turtle doves or anything

As my wedding is now about 200 years ago, I have got over the disappointment Grin

OhTheRoses · 03/12/2016 09:37

I loved mine too, just wish I could still fit in it.

My mother had a veil on 1960 when the bride was given a cigarette to calm the nerves. She puffed, there was a gust of wind, they just snipped the charred edges off. she was four months pg and didn't think twice about an occasional cigarette.

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 09:40

Yes, how times have changed.

My dressed was used 'pre-loved' and I flogged it again afterwards. Cheapest designer dress evah!
Yes, I am a tightwad love a bargain Grin

Somerville · 03/12/2016 09:41

I loved wearing a veil at my first wedding. I took it off at the reception, missed it and put it straight back on. But I'm not having one this time because that really would be OTT for a 40 year old widow. Grin

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 09:45

Oooh, Somerville, another thread wedding!!
Congratulations - how exciting!
So, we need 2 hats? One for ZombieLad and one for you?
We are all invited, aren't we?

Somerville · 03/12/2016 09:51

I have a sample sale dress. I had every intention of selling it on afterwards but a family member (actually of my late DH's) wanted to pay for it for me. So now it has become very precious and I won't be selling it - also it would be a bit rude to make a profit on it!

At the moment I get a bit teary every time I try it on so I need to toughen up a bit.

Somerville · 03/12/2016 09:55

Half of MN already seem to have already invited themselves, Pacific. It's the more the merrier at this stage.

Anytime I see someone starting a dating thread I feel like posting:
YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO! They're soppy romantics, not vipers, and you will never get away from this, short of a name change!

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 10:06
Grin

Aw, the emotional weight your dress carries will add so much to wearing it, I'm sure Smile

I am not a soppy romantic, I am not!!

PurpleDaisies · 03/12/2016 10:14

Half of MN already seem to have already invited themselves, Pacific. It's the more the merrier at this stage

Can I come? Grin

I think I saw your very short lived dress thread... You're going to look stunning!

Somerville · 03/12/2016 10:21

You could politely overlook that massive name-change failure, Purple. Grin

But glad you liked it.

End of me-rail; hope Zombie gets home not-too-exhausted today. Lots of travelling, sleeping in a strange bed, masses of information to assimilate from the appointment. It's a lot and I hope she (you, when you're reading this Zomb) gets home before too long and can just relax.

OhTheRoses · 03/12/2016 10:35

Is Zombie going home today or tomorrow?

But haha, when we moved and had fewer wardrobes I decided there wasn't space for my wedding dress but DH wouldn't let me send to charity shop. So it nestles snugly in one of those blue plaid, zip up laundry bags, labelled wedding dress, with the the other bags labelled: Summer duvet, dbl, Winter duvet King, single summers, etc. In the loft space near the water tanks.

Oh the romance after 25 years.

magimedi · 03/12/2016 10:36

I remember your dating thread, Somerville & am thrilled to hear about the wedding. I'd also like to come Grin

Zombie - safe journey home & also hoping you are not too knackered.

Unescorted · 03/12/2016 10:37

Just de- lurking on this thread to say I hope you made it back in one piece Zombie . On a practical note could you not have them insert chips in the limbs so if they do go missing on yoour travels they can be returned more quickly.

Peacocks are the nice but dims of the bird world. They also make very good alarm clocks. Want to piss your neighbours off...

MrsPeelyWally · 03/12/2016 11:48

but a family member (actually of my late DH's) wanted to pay for it for me

Somerville, I posted on page 1of your very first thread suggesting that you 'go for it'. It's been the most beautiful of stories and I'm glad if your dress is anything to go by that your beloved late husbands family are happy for you. 💐
