We have had some extremely excellent news on this darkest of days.... We have exchanged on our house in London!!!!! Means that we can complete in time to save our beautiful Toronto house that we have been wanting to buy - AND we will be in there in time for Christmas!!!!!

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I keep shovelling in the paracetamol every 5 hours during the day and having a dose of oramorph before bed.

I have an appointment with my GP on Monday morning to sort out the medium term pain management. Then I have my MRI in Birmingham in the afternoon. After that I'm meeting my lovely recently married friend and her husband for dinner. It will be a long day but mostly an enjoyable one.

Zombie that sounds like a (mostly) gorgeous day out! I saw an old friend - one of my best friends actually - for lunch yesterday and it was so good to see her. Seeing friends and keeping in touch is so important isn't it.

Who needs vermouth for a martini anyway? Just make it very very dry: 3 parts gin, then hold the glass up to your mouth and whisper Vermouth

If you have an empty vermouth bottle, you can wave it over the glass, that works too.

Could have raided the school petty cash for ticket but as our secretary is still off sick with HighDudgeon-itis I had to check it yesterday. Few euros, aging stamps and a couple of meal tickets. Which are of no use as the nice lady in the canteen always feeds me when I ask. The other one glowers and clicks her teeth.

I was supervising yesterday and we had jelly Having got one from Nice Lady I noticed the 3 students at my table had none. Little sweethearts duly went and fetched me 3 more which I smuggled out under my jumper as Clicky Teeth was glowering suspiciously and I didn't want her to be cross with them.

I'm like a modern day Fagin

I do offer to pay mind, loudly in the hearing of Clicky Teeth but get told they throw so much food away that it makes no odds, at least it won't go to waste.

I'm with Hearts that you don't need vermouth for a martini, all you need is an empty martini bottle so you can wave its cork or lid over the glass, however olives are essential!
