So glad that those pesky platelets are doing what they should be doing at last!
Four weeks is soooooo much better and more sensible than the old plan. They should have changed it for you a while ago, as any fule kno.

I love my scarlet hair!

Brew Have a good day everyone!

Fiderer · 09/09/2016 07:52

Zing Sussshhhh re red - I can't cope with another hair dye.

Bad enough having FidGirl going to bed with long honey blonde hair and re-appearing with shorter black Shock

Must grudgingly admit the purple looks better than black, v shiny in sunlight. But still, she had gorgeous hair, what is it with teenagers?

IamtheZombie · 09/09/2016 11:02

It's good news for MaisieCat and bad news for my chemo.

The earmites have been vanquished.

Chemo is deferred for another week as my bloods are too low.

Fid

Teens & hair...
I asked DS1 if he needed a haircut. He mysteriously answered "No thanks, I'm growing it because I'm testing something".
Puzzled I asked what he was testing.
He laughed and said "to see what length he can get away with"
I told him he can have whatever length he wants as long as he doesn't end up with dreadlocks. He said I ruined his fun.
Oops.😂

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/09/2016 14:25

How did your post just come up Zombie?? it wasn't there when I started answering Fid. How weird.

So that's shit on a stick about low blood. Sorry to hear. Are you anaemic?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/09/2016 15:16

Sorry to hear that Zombie, that sucks. How long is it now since you had chemo? Is radiation a possibility?

I love purple and I had purple hair for a while in uni a million years ago

DD1 has gold and red highlights on her pixie cut now, looks v good. Her new friend at school has blue hair. One of her teachers has a lilac mohawk, multiple piercings and a full sleeve tattoo. So only a little bit different from their school in London Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/09/2016 15:23

As an aside, said new friend is genderqueer and identifies as a boy, has a boy's name and introduced himself to the class and to DD1 as a boy. However he is not out to his family. The kids are taking up an activity of mutual interest so there is a high probability that I will meet his parents and will have to remember that he is still "she" to them. Needless to say this is all a bit of a learning curve for me and especially DH.

The funny (funny? probably not the right word. Cool maybe?) is that all this sort of thing, sexuality, gender identity, etc is just so matter of fact for these kids. They all seem so accepting and it is just not a big deal. And if new friend decided that he wanted to identify as a girl again, it would be accepted and hardly any eyebrows raised. At least that is my impression and I really hope I am right.

I have a lot of thoughts and half formed ideas and questions about all of this, apart from reading the trans threads on here it is all new to me. I might post something somewhere.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/09/2016 15:24

Sorry that was a really long aside!

Mummylin · 09/09/2016 16:02

Oh Zombie that sucks ! Have you now got to wait until your blood improves until you can have your chemo ? Is it still the platelets or something different ? Glad about the cat though !

Fiderer · 09/09/2016 18:23

That's rotten, Z.

Zing re teenagers & hair. FidBoy2 came home aged 14 with a yellow/purple mohawk Shock Shock Shaved at the sides.

Was v pissed of with the hairdresser who did it. He was 14 but looked about 11 and didn't show his school ID so she prob thought he was even younger.

School reaction was "Oh new haircut?" My reaction was . After 3 days he let the standy uppy bit flop and a girl friend whose mum is a hairdresser dyed his hair back to something nearer his original colour till it all grew out.

No wonder I drink. Should really send the FidKids over to Zombie and let them shock her bloods into acceptable levels.

HerRoyalFattyness · 09/09/2016 18:58

That sucks zombie Sad
I was good and never did anything to my hair. I like it too much to risk damaging it by dying it before I turn grey! Grin

Allalonenow · 09/09/2016 21:13

Giid to know that the cat ear mites have been exterminated!
Before I joined MN I often thought about getting a cat, but now the ear mites, and the bringing dead birds inside, and the playing with mice, that are mentioned daily here have put me off having a pussy to stroke and pamper.

Re the identifying as a different gender, the thing that really gets up my nose about it is.... Why didn't WE think about it first.
The block on women voting, the medical school/law department % female allocations... I could go on. Why didn't we just say "I identify as male"?

Allalonenow · 09/09/2016 21:15

GLAD I must new glasses or drink less wine !

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/09/2016 08:20

Ah shit Zombie, that's frustrating.
Pompoms for Maisie though.

Get you two with your scarlet hair and your purple streaks!
You've completely blown the vision of the phalanx that I have in my head.

Hearts that's going to be very difficult for his/her teachers on parents' night!

Fiderer · 10/09/2016 08:35

BBB This is me. No purple.

Had to smile at Margaret Rutherford there, espesially with her statement handbag! Grin

Allalonenow · 11/09/2016 21:34

Just to back track a little, to the fennel etc...
I had a fab pudding tonight which was strawberries and ouzo. Slice the strawberries in half through the green bit, lay out cut side up on a plate so they look pretty, splosh ouzo all over them. you can sprinkle with icing sugar to make it more syrupy but I don't bother.
Leave for two to three hours, eat at room temperature. Easy, quick, delicious, looks lovely, especially good for late season berries to give them a bit of a lift.
I had found ouzo in Sainsburys and it reminded me of a long forgotten delight.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 11/09/2016 22:03

Allalonenow · 11/09/2016 22:37

Aww, there are some for Fid also, as the start of term is horrid and she has that nasty legal stuff to deal with too, poor soul she needs all the help she can get. Wine Wine Cake

Allalonenow · 11/09/2016 22:39

That is the beauty of virtual treats, they are of endless supply! Smile

iklboo · 11/09/2016 22:45

Could I have some please? I've spent the day making our entry for the local scarecrow festival. We've got no wine or mixers in so virtual goodies would be luffly!
