Actually "thunking" as "hard and frowny thinking" doesn't sound v supportive so I'll go for "v intense and positive" instead.

Must get ready for work. I lost a child yesterday on her first afternoon with us. Well she lost herself but I had a frantic couple of hours clutching the school mobile till she turned up at 6pm and her dad called me.

Am going to call all the new 5th years together today and emphasise the importance of sticking to what your parents told you. Or come to me. Don't get on random buses going in the wrong direction.

Thinking of you Zomb and sending plentiful platelet vibes for this afternoon.

Allalone Grade 1 maple syrup is usually dearer but I prefer grade 2 as it is darker, stickier and more maple-y

Bloods for tomorrow done. Shopping for several days mostly done. Feeling fair to middling.

But...

It looks as though it may be 2 steps forward and 1 step backward. Urine has suddenly reverted to being very dark (although not cloudy thank goodness). Maybe it's just that with all of today's running around I've not drunk as much water as usual. Or maybe there's blood in it again. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I'm watching the Paralympics opening ceremony and trying to spot my friend who is out there as the official photographer for the wheelchair basketball team. I'm pretty sure it's the wheelchair basketball team but then my brain is mostly mush these days. Or I'm just getting old...

Oh I forgot about the Paralympics! I will watch it on catch up when I get a chance. I've been busy at college tonight.

No idea about context, but I thought it was quite profound on its own. He is 6.

Btw thanks all for good wishes for Zinglette. She had icecream for breakfast as a special treat on Saturday to reward her bravery. Just seen nurse today and scar is still a bit open so needs to be covered & foot bandaged for another week, which means she can start school (reception!) on Monday, but will have to wear crocs.
She's not in pain and it's all good.

Afternoon all.

Platelets have climbed to the dizzying heights of 103. Unfortunately not all of my blood results came back from Pathology. Also, the Pharmacy needed to know by 12.30 if I was cleared to receive treatment. Since my consultation wasn't until 2.00 at the earliest (2.30 in reality) there was no chemo prepared for me today. So they drew a new lot of bloods and also took a urine sample. I'm re-scheduled for 2.30 tomorrow.

I'm also moving to a new chemo schedule - every 4 weeks instead of every 3 weeks. It's hoped that this extra week off will give my platelets time to recover.

Other things I learned:

Blood in urine would not be caused by a low platelet count. It is always a sign of infection.

I can have the flu jab but it must be 2 - 3 days before my chemo. I can also have the pneumococcal jab as it is an inactivated vaccine (contains no live virus).

I must also remember that MaisieCat has a checkup with the vet tomorrow morning.

Yes, I know it's only 9.30 pm. But I didn't sleep well last night (very nervous about today's appointments) and tomorrow is a l-o-n-g day.

My fav colour is also purple and I had purple streaks put in my hair yesterday !! So glad that things have picked up for you Zombie. And every four weeks means less weeks that you will get side effects ! Hope all goes well tomorrow.
