There's still plenty of room for posts on the current thread but I'm starting this one now as I may be offline for some time.

I've asked iklboo to keep an eye on my FB timeline and to copy / paste the updates here so they should appear as and when.

Make sure you have your chianti and fava beans ready for the 11th!

MRI appointment has arrived!! It's on Saturday, 6th February at 5.00pm. I've been in touch with a friend who lives in Birmingham and we're meeting for dinner afterwards. There's a Carluccio's in Grand Central at New Street that I've been wanting to visit so she's going to book a table for 6.45.

A few days ago I put a note up on FB about how I wanted A New Toaster. The New Toaster would then lead to a new microwave and on to a new fridge / freezer. It went on until I had basically talked myself into a whole new kitchen. It was meant to be amusing. Today the postman rang the doorbell. He had an Amazon delivery. It was A New Toaster! It was from the friend I mentioned upthread that I've just got back in touch with after 20 years.

I really am blessed with amazing friends.

Aaw. What a lovely thing for your friend to do. I've just bought a new kettle. I was all excited because it lights up blue. easily amused

DoctorTwo · 26/01/2016 16:49

What a lovely thing for your friend to do!

Your poat reminded me of a book I read a few years ago, in which a young man swapped his way to a house, starting from a red paper clip.

One Red Paper Clip website.

IamtheZombie · 26/01/2016 21:18

The box that earlier today contained A New Toaster now contains An Aging ZombieCatG.

Well, who knows what the postman may bring tomorrow Z Grin

Why do they all love boxes sooooo much?

Your MRI appt. is the same day as a Lennon/McCartney moment that I never thought I'd get to Smile hope it will be lucky for you love.

magi I go to bed just after midnight not get up.

Rumours of moonlight cults round here are vastly exaggerated but not completely untrue hahahahahahaha!

magimedi · 27/01/2016 07:23

BBB - I sped read the time of that post as 06.39 - not 00.06.39

Lovely friend to send the toaster & lovely cats.

Mummylin · 27/01/2016 19:27

Zombie, what a lovely couple of surprises you have had, and rightly so, you deserve something nice. I hope you are feeling ok and not overdoing things again.
Have you left the box for the cats to play in ?

IamtheZombie · 27/01/2016 22:12

Today:

Up at 7.30am. Coffee, feed cats, coffee, play on laptop, watch TV, coffee, shower, dress, coffee, drive to Shrewsbury, lunch at Pizza Hut buffet, on to hospital where I drive around the car parks for 40, yes I said FORTY, minutes before being able to park, in and out of vampires' den in 15 minutes, head home via Craven Arms, pick up a bit of shopping, arrive home and collapse.

I've since managed to prepare and eat a bit of dinner.

I'm shattered.

I'm so very, very tired of being very, very tired. I have a lot of life I still want to live.

Chemo tomorrow afternoon. I will arrive at least 2 hours early so I can park. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that a) my bloods come back OK and b) they don't decide the remnants of my cold are a reason to postpone my treatment. Please, give me the chemo. If I have bad side effects I promise I'll pack a bag and ring the oncology helpline. Hospital can admit me then.

Mummylin · 27/01/2016 22:53

Fingers crossed here that you get your chemo Zombie. I m not surprised that you are so shattered. You seem to have days when you use so much energy, but then it takes a big toll on you. Some days I do far less than you do and still manage to get tired out. You really are a brick Zombie, but do have poor rest.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/01/2016 23:04

Great big massive (((((((((((((((Zombie))))))))))))))))))))))))

Please have all my spoons for tomorrow and as much sleep tonight as you can.

The chemo is very frequent isn't it, it feels like you've only just recovered from the last lot.

No wonder you're tired sweetheart, shame there isn't an antidote that perks you up.

We're all still here cheering you on. You can swear at all of us when you're driving round looking for a space!

FattyNinjaOwl · 27/01/2016 23:39

I've got everything crossed they let you have your chemo. And that you don't get any nasty side effects.

Mummylin · 28/01/2016 00:20

Not poor rest ==some rest !

magimedi · 28/01/2016 08:17

All digits crossed here for good bloods.

(((xxx)))

IamtheZombie · 28/01/2016 18:46

Evening Phalanx.

Bloods were good; chemo was given. Hurrah!!

I did feel sorry for patients who had earlier appointments and for the unit nurses. The machine in the pharmacy that mixes the drugs broke down this morning and some people were there waiting for hours. I was lucky; my chemo was waiting for me.

I had hoped to do a bit of shopping afterwards but it was absolutely tipping it down when I came out so I just came straight home. I've enough food for a few days so I'll shop tomorrow or over the weekend. Weather and side effects permitting of course!

OP posts:
Mummylin · 28/01/2016 18:58

So glad for you Zombie, hope you don't get too many side effects and if you do I am glad you are well stocked up so you can just stay at home until you feel better. When do you get your blood results ?

IamtheZombie · 28/01/2016 19:05

lin, I have to have bloods done every 3 weeks on the day before I have my chemo. If the results aren't within normal ranges they won't do the treatment.

OP posts:
Mummylin · 28/01/2016 19:23

Ah I see, so obviously they were good today! How long does it take for your chemo to go in ? What do you do at the time, chat to others, read or something, I can't imagine that you would do nothing, you are like a whirlwind ! I can't imagine what you used to do before your illness, I bet you hardly stopped for breath ! Grin what will you do this eve, just veg out in front of the tele ? ( besides mumsnetting )

IamtheZombie · 29/01/2016 00:02

LOL, lin.

Because some people have an allergic type reaction to the monoclonal antibody part of my chemo, they give a hefty dose of Piriton just before the chemo. 2.5 x normal dose of Piriton = zzzzzzz. When my nurse woke me when it was all over she told me that she kept coming to check I was still breathing as I was in a very, very deep sleep and not moving a muscle.

If, and I stress if, everything is lined up and ready to go the treatment takes just over 2 hours. Weight, blood pressure, temperature and heart rate are all double checked first. Piriton goes in over 30 minutes. Chemo goes in over 60 minutes. Saline flush goes in over 15 minutes.
