There's still plenty of room for posts on the current thread but I'm starting this one now as I may be offline for some time.

I've asked iklboo to keep an eye on my FB timeline and to copy / paste the updates here so they should appear as and when.

Make sure you have your chianti and fava beans ready for the 11th!

Morning all. All blood tests & X-ray normal. Cholesterol was only 5.1. Back to doc in new year then for chat about what next re pins & needles. Might need a neuro referral but apparently nothing sinister. Whoop!!!

magimedi · 21/12/2015 10:14

Great news & so good to have it before Xmas.

Whoop indeed - small, early doors gin ration for you Grin

iklboo · 21/12/2015 12:51

Yay. Thanks magi (hic)

Mummylin · 21/12/2015 15:04

Good news Ikl. That will add to your enjoyment over Xmas .
Read your blog and it's great, I will miss it. You must do another one about something or other !
Zombie, glad tooth is gone, did you put it under the pillow for the fairies ? Hope you are nearly fully recovered from your op now and getting on well. Have you all finished all your shopping? I have a couple of things still to get
I have to take something back I bought my dh a top and the hanger said large, but on the actual item it's only large. I didn't check at the time stupidly , so have to change it tomorrow. Just cleared my ironing baskets which is not things I can get away without ironing. Mostly dh. Tops with bloody collars ! Anyway all done now. It's a miracle.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 21/12/2015 22:47

Well, let's all clink to a miracle WineXmas GrinWine

yikeyyikes! do I need these?

Good news Ikl whoopwhoop!

magimedi · 21/12/2015 22:58

Ironing baskets?

Shmironing baskets!

DS reckons that ironing is a social conspiracy - I think I agree with him!

iklboo · 21/12/2015 22:59

Yes. Thank you ladies. Relieved. Although DH's response was a quick text 'glad bloods are ok'. And barely mentioned it since apart from 'well now you know it's nothing '. Hmm

I'm thinking he's having a head up his arse in the sand moment. I've not had a diagnosis yet - we've just eliminated some of the big nasties. Which is a sodding great relief and I might actually get some sleep tonight!

I've bought some lovely new bedding, washed it so it smells nice & changed the bed. Had a nice hot shower so I'm all clean & about to read a few chapters on my kindle before turning in.

Hope you've all had a good day and that your troublesome ex-tooth hole is healing nicely Zombie Smile

IamtheZombie · 21/12/2015 23:43

Evening.

ikl, [thumbs up] for test results; [thumbs down] for DH's attitude.

Tooth. Ah, yes. The TOOTH. Fecking thing left its roots behind. I shall ignore this state of affairs until after I've eaten my Christmas dinner.

What is "ironing"? Zombie has not heard of this before.

Liver clinic finally wrote to my GP, oncologist, and breast surgeon:

^I reviewed Mrs Orr today in our HPB Follow up Clinic. She underwent a laparoscopic nonanatomical resections of segment 5 and 2 of the liver for metastatic breast cancer on 13th November 2015. I am pleased to report she made an excellent recovery following this. She has now returned to all her activities of daily living. The incision from her surgery has healed well and the weight remains stable. I shared the histology with Mrs Orr today in clinic which showed completely excised lesions and some evidence of chronic cholecystitis in the gallbladder. I think that Mrs Orr’s liver has now completely regenerated given that these were two small non-anatomical resections and her incision has healed well. Therefore, if they are plans to resume chemotherapy there would be no restriction from the liver surgical
side of things for this to happen.^

I have discussed Mrs Orr further with Mr R M, (HPB Consultant) in clinic today. We have decided to perform an MRI scan of Mrs Orr’s liver to assess for any further lesions in February 2016 in the first week followed by clinic review on 18th February 2016.

We will keep you informed of her progress.

So basically what I've told you but in fancy language. Smile

Fab news on the medical front Zombie. Job means I can decipher that & it all looks spiffing.

Boooo re troublesome toofy. As long as it causes no gip & you can enjoy festivities that will be fine. What are your plans? We're off for a curry. DH invited MIL & her fella. MIL is luffly, fella is hard work. Should be reet though. We get free bottle of wine with 4 adults.

Disturbed sleep last night as DH had a kebab with hot chilli sauce just before bed and was consequently up. & down to the loo all night. Plus nasty dreams. Oh well, tonight may be better!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/12/2015 20:04

Oh dear, am in bits having just watched the Channel 4 News report about primary school children in Yorkshire visiting people with dementia in a nursing home.

So inspired and inspiring.

Everyone seemed to be revelling in it and the children were so focused.

Such a good idea and one of those things that will have unforeseen positive consequences.

I had to come and type this because I wouldn't be able to say it Smile

I bet it was very moving BBB. And that the patients thoroughly enjoyed listening to the young children. They sound so sweet don't they. I saw some young children on " this morning " and they were singing their arms were going all over the place, one little boy was really giving it some and it was very comical to watch !
Have you finished shopping etc ? Just food shop to do here and dh will do that tonight. I got some of it today, but he will get the rest ( I have made a list )

iklboo · 22/12/2015 20:27

Finished the shopping tonight. If it ain't been got now it ain't getting got. Went for a nice Chinese meal afterwards then came home and wrapped approximately 20 million presents for DS. Not even had a drink to soften the experience (apart from one bottle of Tiger beer with the meal)

Three loads of washing & drying done. Bowl of peanut butter cup ice cream consumed.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/12/2015 22:17

They weren't singing to them, they were talking to them, and listening really intently, and making memory books for them. Over a period of time, not just a one off visit.

It was fantastic.

iklboo · 22/12/2015 22:29

B3 that sounds amazing and very lovely.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/12/2015 23:31

It was.

Can you bike over some of that ice cream please, sounds divine.

iklboo · 23/12/2015 08:29

It's a Ben & Jerry's one - on offer at Sainsbo's at the minute - £2.50 a tub.

Mummylin · 23/12/2015 15:42

I expect you have all been doing the same as me and doing loads of cleaning ! I have forgotten two things from the shops for dinner, but I can get tomorrow. The person who has iced my aunt and uncles diamond wedding cake sent me a photo last night. I am so pleased with it. It's on Saturday. They have had a letter from the Queen congratulating them and also wishing them a merry Xmas. I made the cake but I can't do the icing, the little figures are made of fondant apparently. She is going to put congratulations on it somewhere today.

iklboo · 23/12/2015 16:02

Oh Lin that's AMAZING! Diamond wedding, eh? Crikey. Very many congratulations to them. Hope you have a fab time on Saturday.

I had to pop into town to collect my prescriptions & get a couple of things, but if it ain't got now it ain't getting got - unless DH wants to go for it. Treated myself to my favourite sandwich (Brie, bacon & cranberry panini) and a Bailey's latte at the lovely cafe.

Tomorrow I'm working 8-11am, but then it's the traditional 'iklboo has finished for Christmas' afternoon tea at a posh hotel.

IamtheZombie · 24/12/2015 14:34

It's Christmas Eve. Where has the last year gone?

I hope each and every member of the Phalanx (including the lurkers) has a peaceful and joyous Christmas.

Ho ho ho!

FFS - I haven't even had Wine yet!

iklboo · 24/12/2015 15:47

A very Merry Christmas to all my lovely ladies of the phalanx who have supported me, slapped my arse, made me laugh and made me cry (in a good way) this year. Thank you for everything - especially the gin.

To the wonderful Queen of The Phalanx, Chief of Team DBF - hope you have a wonderful, peaceful, restful time. You more than deserve it.

I'll be raising my gin rations to you all tonight and tomorrow. Clinkissimo m'dears! xxxx

Mummylin · 24/12/2015 17:04

Wishing all the DBF team a great time tomorrow and a very happy new year.
Zombie I hope that the next year will be good for you. I hope you will have more highs than lows and that your health will remain stable. I remain in admiration of your stoicism. I hope there will be a meet up for you with Zombielad next year too.
Cheers Phalanx Wine x
