Morning....

OP posts:
Ragamuffin · 08/12/2006 11:24

Just wanted to make some comments about storing pics of the work your children have done........This is what I do......

Firstly each child has an A4 Portfolio Book which has clear plastic sleeves inside. I got these really professional looking ones from Staples at a cost of about £20-£25 each. Copies of all their work goes into these books. If the pic is full page then it goes in easily. If not I stick the relevant pic onto white A4 Paper and write what job it was for/when done/where it appeared etc. I even have snapshots edited out of TV adverts that they have done. These books go with them to all their modelling castings along with their casting sheets for prospective clients to view previous work done.

Then I have an A4 Lever arch file at home with a second copy of each of these pages. I have had a couple of nightmares where books have been left behind etc. So I have a backup at home. Sometimes I just use colour copies of these pages for their portfolios, if I can't get enough copies, always keeping the original safe at home!

Then I have a seperate box in which I keep the entire magazine, catalogue etc. So that I have a copy of the whole book or leaflet that they appeared in. This is really just because I like to have the whole thing so that one day they can see the publication in it's entirity and where they appeared.

Hope that helps some of you with ideas on how to store the pics.

well DD has been accepted by Scallywags which is great but at £275 it's expensive!

B&B have closed their books and UA knocked her back. London Kids want prints and I don't have a printer working at the mo.

Am thinking of Fine Kids and see what they say so....

Any advice/perspectives from you guys appreciated.

mythumbelinas · 08/12/2006 12:14

paddlechick, sorry if you've mentioned it, but how old is your dd? If you don't mind paying the fee for Scallywags, then go for it. My dd has done jobs with other toddlers from SW.
My friend's dd is also with SW. She was supposed to have a job yesterday, but last night i asked how it went and she was sick so cancelled last min
It is worth applying to Kids London. Mine are with KL. Take some other pics and go print them out at Boots, Asda anywhere .. or upload/send to one of those online photo lab places (sorry i haven't done it before, but heard they're efficient)
Good luck with whatever you decide

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2006 13:01

hi mythumbelinas, dd is 13 months.

the pix sw took are great, in only a few mins, and she adored the attention!

thanks for the advice, actually i've got some free credits with tru-print online so perhaps i should use them!

cheers

julie4travel · 08/12/2006 13:51

paddlechick - sw fees are high. thats why i changed my ds to b and b . my dd is going with ts and theres are still high about £170 plus photoshoot yet have been round for something like 20 years and get the work so i am giving them a try. have you tried mot? i think they are free and non sole rep so u can go with other agents too. i think there are a few other agents who charge lower fees. good luck in your decisions

mrsratty still no news on tb hopefully soon!

scootersanta · 08/12/2006 14:17

hi littlemadam - yes DS1 did that shoot. will try CAT you later wheen no baby on lap!

dylansluckymum · 08/12/2006 14:24

afternoon all! yackerty how exciting for potential junior cover!!! is that p&b or normal junior? i know you have a wee baby but do you have an older dd as well? fingers and toes crossed for you can't wait to see the pics! ds has next casting on monday... we're meant to be there 1.30-2pm, how about you?

debenhams shoot was fantastic, done in under an hour and they were spoiled for choice. i do love it when they go like that! photographer was one ds hasn't had (kevin paschke or something like that?) and he was really good and the debs people are super nice. they're going to send me a cd of the pics, i was so glad i got up the courage to ask! just as they were finishing ds decided to work on a poop (anyone remember what babies at that age look like pooping??) it was absolutely hilarious and the photographer took a snap of him with his face all red working on it. lol! anyway they're for big pics in every debs store and will be up for 6 months!!! supposed to be out end jan or so, very excited.

raga those are good tips for photo saving, i've bought ds a nice blue leather scrapbook from paperchase but i'm going to do the a4 plastic thing for the extra copy!

mythumbelinas · 08/12/2006 14:34

paddlechick, yes to what to julie said .. TS seem to be good for babies/toddlers, and mot are v reputable.

DLM, ds sounds like such a pro very funny about the red face .. i remember that stage!!

raga, i have an A4 book with clear pages for work, but only have one for dd2 at the mo. I bought them really cheap from Asda only £2 or something .. mainly for stuff i've printed off the web, but at the mo i need to change my black ink! I'm not as organised as you .. never been asked to see previous work my dds have done so i've never taken any pics or portfolio with me.

julie4travel · 08/12/2006 14:41

dlm- superb glad he did well again, good luck with next.

all still quiet on western front for us which is good as busy with work.

good luck with any castings or jobs next week

raga - think i should be more organised like you. hope you arent too jet lagged!

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2006 15:13

ts = truly scrumptious?

they're not accepting applications again till may

thanks for the tips tho

ellesmum · 08/12/2006 15:42

DLM - glad deb shoot went well lol at them taking a pic of him when he was pooping! oh and good luck for next on mon.

lanismum · 08/12/2006 17:33

mrsratty, bought junior today and your dds cover looks even better in real life if you know what i mean, well done again it really is lovely, i said to my mum oh look thst mrsrattys daughter, she gave me an odd look and said i think you spend too much time on that computer

mrsratty · 08/12/2006 17:50

julie4travel · 08/12/2006 20:36

ellesmum glad you got the papers (eventually ) sorry it took me a while!

housemum · 10/12/2006 00:14

Raga - you sound so organised! I've never been asked to show pics so haven't got portfolio, but I keep an original copy of the magazine/catalogue in a pretty storage box - Next do just slightly bigger than A4 gift boxes for £5 each (I bought pretty pink flowered ones) which hold magazines - we have a stack of Mother & Baby in one.

I also laminate a spare copy - this also means that we have some copies that DD has that she can show people - she wanted to show her pre-school teacher a pic so I gave her a laminated copy (laminator was £15 from Asda but I would only do this to a spare copy as (a) I don't know how good the plastic is for pictures and (b) it's easy to get one stuck in the lamintor and crinkled)

julie4travel · 10/12/2006 21:55

evening all- has anyone had the free junior mag from that link this month? i haven't had my free copy yet and just wondered if anyone else had.

still no news on tb - i did call them again on fri and nothing yet.

good luck to anyone with castings jobs this week. we haven't anything else in the pipeline.

beacon · 11/12/2006 10:46

Hi ellesmum - we just had a call from KL about a toy catalogue job on 20th. I wonder if it's the same thing? I've got an almost 2 yr old DS though, so can't imagine they'd want him for a Barbie catalogue. Who knows...?

ellesmum · 11/12/2006 10:46

julie - elle's birthday was great, took her to the bear factory where she made her own bear and chose her own outfit for it! the whole shop sang her happy birthday! she had a really nice day. cant believe shes 3!

ellesmum · 11/12/2006 10:48

beacon - must be the same thing, sue rang me and said it was a barbie cat and when i rang them back irene said it wasnt for barbie but for baby girl catalouge, ive never heard of them have you?
