thorntons · 06/12/2006 21:28

isajaq · 06/12/2006 22:13

Hello all sorry to intrude but I am looking for some advice.
My daughter has joined Bruce & Brown today and I wanted to know if I did the right thing. We applied at Bruce & Brown and Urban Angels and the second said we would have to apply again in March but Bruce & Brown accepted her immediately and before I could even try other agencies so I decided to go ahead with it. Are they a good agency? I heard good things from people but I'm not sure if I should've tried other agencies before doing anything?

thorntons · 06/12/2006 22:27

Hi and welcome Isajag! Great news re your dd being accepted by B&B.How old is she? My dd is nearly 3 and with B&B too. IMO B&B ,Kids London,Urban Angels and MOT are some of the best agencies .They charge minimal or no fees . I have seen children from these agencies at castings and jobs. Up to you but you could apply to Kids London if she gets accepted then make up your mind. From what I have seen they are an excellent agency too. They have similar clients to B&B.

thorntons · 06/12/2006 22:32

Oops Isajaq ,sorry read your message too quickly,Just seen that you have already joined B&B ! Good luck ,they are a very reputable ,efficient and friendly agency .We are really pleased with them and have had some fab jobs. Keep us posted with how dd gets onxx

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 06/12/2006 23:04

what year are you in? how do you find the time to do uni and take dd to castings and shoots etc? a few agencies have asked me to go for a meeting with them but i was thinking i would wait til i had finished uni cos i thought it would be too difficult trying to fit castings etc around it all, but law has a lot of hours so now i don't know. how old are you btw? (hope you don't mind my asking feel free to not answer)

isajaq · 07/12/2006 09:39

HI thorntons thank you for the warm welcome and the advice, I'm glad to hear from someone else that tey are a good agency. My daughter is seven months, what kind of work has your dd done through them so far?

dylansluckymum · 07/12/2006 10:06

hi isajaq. my ds is also 7 mos (creeping up on 8 already... eek!) and with b&b. since the beginning of sep he's had quite a bit of work, the main jobs have been debenhams, the white company, adams, next, woolworths, littlewoods and also practical parenting, junior p&b and prima magazines. i think we've been lucky as it's been a particularly busy time for babies but fingers crossed you'll see your dd in print before you know it! congrats.

thorntons · 07/12/2006 10:30

Morning all.Hi Isajaq -Dylansluckymums post is a great indication of the work around for babies the same age as your dd ! A very good sign DD has also modelled for "The White Company" (x2) ,Debenhams ,M&S,Zara,Huggies ,Junior P&B ,Junior magazine (x2) Tesco Toddler clubcard magazine (x2) and others.Good Luck ..fingers crossed wont be long before dd get first casting or job. Keep us posted with how you get on xx

mythumbelinas · 07/12/2006 11:12

hi
lanismum, congrats on having another girl I love having girls .. and yep, can give all dd1's lovely clothes to dd2!!

jamillie, scallywags do get work. One of my best friend joined her son with them and had several castings and a job in 4 months, but stopped because her son was too naughty. She's now joined her dd with them and done a couple jobs .. actually she's taking her dd to a job today for organix. It seemed to be outdoor and it's thundering and lightning .. so hope they're ok!

yackerty, good luck for the junior p&b job, hope it goes well today
DLM, well done to ds for getting Debs again without casting!!

housemum · 07/12/2006 12:30

OMG! OMG! Have actually won a competition! DD is going to have a Happy Feet penguin party - the guy from Persil just called - they provide all the entertainment and stuff, with a dancing penguin and someone off Celeb Come Dancing (when they tell me who I'll have to Google them as I never know who they are!!)

Can't concentrate now - was supposed to be doing the housework and making lasagne for tonight but too excited!!

Oh it's Christmas and I'm happy....

housemum · 07/12/2006 12:31

Congratulations lanismum - with apologies to all the lovely ds's out there girls are brill! (I have 2).

housemum · 07/12/2006 12:32

When's her ladyship due?

housemum · 07/12/2006 12:33

In case you hadn't worked it out, the last 2 messages were supposed to be on one - hit wrong key!

ellesmum · 07/12/2006 12:49

wow housemum, that sounds exciting, what a lovely prize! do u know which celeb is coming to the party yet?

housemum · 07/12/2006 12:53

No - it depends on the date. I've told them my preferred dates, they need to liaise with the "penguins" and the celeb to sort out when they can do it.

We've provisionally booked a couple of dates at the local community centre, and the Persil guy says they come along and make it into a "Winter Wonderland" and the entertainers get the kids dancing. DD loves dancing, and goes with her best friend so she will be sooo excited.

Hardest thing is deciding who to invite - limit of 20, so can't take the easy option and just say her pre-school class and best friend as that would be too many (and there's one kid I wouldn't want to invite!!!)

Tried asking her, if you had a party who would you invite and got the answer of "Mummy, Daddy, Father Christmas and Minnie Mouse"!!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:00

housemum that sounds excellent! dd loves the advert for happy feet, every time it come on she stands and dances to the music, id like to be brave enough to take her to see it, i know she wouldnt be scared of the noise or dark, but i doubt very much she would sit still, might give it a go if im feeling brave at the weekend, even if she only lasts 20 mins or so.
oh, new baby is due on the 19th april, have been told they might induce me a bit earlier though if my blood pressure goes up like last time.

have just been on the phone to my mum, my family are officially nuts, my brother has bought dd a pair of walkie talkies (she cant talk) and my mum has got her a pair of skates, now im no expert, but is this just not asking for a trip to A&E on boxing day? i know for a fact she has also been bought make up and dressing up heeled feathered shoes, and the family guy xmas dvd! mind you though, im no better, i got her a v smile hand held console thingy, think the age is 3 or 5, she will like pressing the buttons though

julie4travel · 07/12/2006 13:08

housemum- superb your dd will love that

lanismum - ita hard to tell people what is suitable for presents etc. we got our dd rollerscates and its too hard for her at her age. i end up walking round pulling her along!

BigmummaL · 07/12/2006 13:10

Hi there,

Sorry to intrude on your thread but my ds who is 8 months has just been accepted by Urban Angels. Am very excited, they were ages getting back to us and i thought we had been rejected, but found out on Tuesday and am just waititng for the contract to come through. Would love to hear of castings and jobs anyone with urban Angels have had.

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:11

julie, ill just let dd open them on xmas morning, have a little play, then put the skates away till shes a bit older, the make up ill let her smear everywhere for a bit then il 'lose' it just like i seem to lose batteries for every noisy musical toy that comes into the house................must have a battery fairy!

lanismum · 07/12/2006 13:15

bigmummal, my dd is with urban angels, they are a lovely agency, really really friendly, things have been very quiet for her, but i think thats down to her age (21 months) too old to just sit still, too young to understand standing still, but she has had castings for blooming marvellous, cow and gate and littlewoods, and recently did a job for mothercare without a casting, there are lots of us on here with urban angels, i think that 8 months is a very busy age at the min too, so good luck
